So, can we be done with linear treadmill themeparks? A living world sandbox is the solution, right? What does that mean?
It means they don't get made, it's massively more expensive to do that and no one has money to shell out on MMO garbage.
>>740049804>What does that mean?idk but surely if you just make one more thread you'll figure it out and then all the game devs will see and implement it and the time you spend making these threads every day won't be a complete waste after all
we have had this same fucking thread every fucking day for the past 4 months.
>>740049804>can we be done with linear treadmill themeparksNah they're fun.
>>740049869A few developers is enough to make a few mobs and a zone per day and have an MMO of content in a month or two. You could make trees choppable in a day. 30 anons could each make a mob/faction and a zone per day and have so much content, people will have as much to do as any other game. Develop a few sandbox systems -- gathering, crafting, trading, WPvE, resources and logistics, zone control, outpost building, complex PvP gameplay -- and you have more moment to moment hype than any other game.Momentary storyworth -- guilds coming together to raid a renowned PvPer's base; clearing the outside of a city where a player is 16 feet tall in a god set and is blocking trade routes -- is the most important aspect of designing and advertising games. These are the memorable stories you tell friends and post on 4chan. You want as much going on as you enjoy describing (which also makes good casts). "My guild made a few subs and frigates to explore the sea while we gathered enough materials for a T2 upgrade so we can make destroyers and cruisers. We want to get T3 for battlecruisers, battleships, and aircraft carriers." Worldbuilding is easy. A few dozen people could absolutely make an MMO in 6 months and outplay every other game on the market with a little design and advertising finesse while touting engagement, wealth, and power.
>>740049804why would you use the soulless retoilet version of t2?
>>740050869Stupid fucking AI post. Albion Online. Anvil Empires. Shut the fuck up.
>>740051042I still prefer the OP version. It looks like Jack Sparrow attire turned Paladin.
>>740051042>>740051224you fags do realize that the set was inspired by Warhammer 40k, right?
>>740051136I don't want to play Albion Online, dude. It's top-down, and the combat isn't that fun (plus I don't think the resource gathering is as fun or as risky as it could be if the whole world was PvP). I also don't think it has meaningful worldbuilding, like area control. If I want a deep sandbox, I can just go play EVE, which has 3D Diablo hyperjet playstyles and a much deeper economy, plus outposts and zone control. Is there anything in Albion as lucrative as wormholes?I've never heard of Anvil Empires, and that post isn't an AI post.
>>740050018Do people actually like this aesthetic? Its so offputting
>>740051592>I dont want to play the thing I want to playYeah I know, you're a stupid retard.
>>740049910He is the ideas guy trying to outsource his jeb
>>740049804How do you get people out in the world doing things every day? How do you keep them engaged without them getting bored? It's not like 20 years ago when an online world was a novelty that could keep people on alone, people have way more games and distractions nowadays.
>>740051732Pay them in NFTs and blowjobs
>>740049804>A living world sandbox as far as PvE goes how would you structure this? because when i think sandbox i think PvP guild vs guild or region vs region. I think some sort of sandbox PvE thing where a faction is controlled by a computer and players team up to take over territory or something to fight against it is possible though
>>740049804Surely THIS TIME you will get someone here to make your dream MMO you are too lazy to make, right? RIGHT?
>>740051732>How do you get people out in the world doing things every day?thats the wrong question, the question you should be asking is how to make the game fun. Its like wow devs asked themsevles how to get people logging in every day and they came up with dailies because internal data showed that the autistic retards who logged in every day had the longest running subs so they thought that by forcing constant log ins by needing dailies to prgress they could brute force people into being engaged every day with the game. dailies really just made the game feel like more of a job and made me quit though.
>>740052108dude is just brainstorming probably.Am i suppose to effort post like 20 paragraphs explaining how an MMO of this type would work?I mean EVERYTHING is tied to EVERYTHING in some way. if leveling up works one way no one has seen before you need to explain how that effects vendor prices, crafting, dungeons, quests, mobs, bosses. You want X thing to work in a way that most mmos dont do it, ok well you need to make sure these 4-5 different things are made from the ground up with your new ideas in mind.
>>740050869>A few developers is enough to make a few mobs and a zone per day and have an MMO of content in a month or two.Okay do it then if its so easy, stop making threads about it get off your lazy ass and JUST DO IT!!!Oh wait nvm you are a blubber brained ideas guy retard who will never successfully make something other than another thread on 4channel about the same shit again and again and again
>>740052256>dude is just brainstorming probably.Brainstorming for what? He isn't going to make anything, he's never gonna put anything real out there he is just wasting everyones time going over the same shit repeatedly ad nauseam. We are not your personal army is a phrase here right? We are also not your personal development team.Go pay some retards in a mall to listen to your pitch on a new hit MMO and fuck off from posting it here EVERY SINGLE WEEK.
>>740051136>Albion OnlineHow long does it take to get BIS?
>>740049804>A living world sandbox is the solution, right?Sure, if you love being overrun with thirdy cartel locust swarms. There are plenty of sandbox MMOs, go play one, see why no one talks about them.
>>740051732You give them enough extrinsic things (getting items) to get them into wealth and power fantasy, and you give them enough intrinsic enjoyment (pic) to make every moment matter. I think it would be pretty easy to make action combat much more fulfilling than tab target, so you get this immersion and finesse that contemporary tab target with miss chances and everything doesn't give. I think you could get a lot of people into your game if you hype up the combat to be deep and complex. But that's not it, as New World shows. I think this communicates that most (if not all?) people want other things to do, and gathering, crafting, trading, and PvP put people into bounty hunter, resource collector, crafter, and trade aficionado roles. PvP is especially important on PvP servers because PvP games are by far the most popular games. But as I mentioned in another post, momentary storyworth is the most important aspect of games, and you could easily turn these mentioned roles into something that everybody wants to do sometimes -- maybe a lot.I personally want size, speed, and power rivaling comics. You could have people in and out of sets according to power vs. how many respawns they need, reducing durability. The most powerful sets could be obtained in a few hours or a day.I think the most important take besides momentary excitement is that repairs have to cost materials so that gathering, crafting, trading, etc., have a reason to exist. You can and should absolutely replace leveling with this. A tiny percentage of WoW players make it to max, much less stay subbed through repetitive treadmill grinding. If the math holds, it's like 3% to max.
>>740051476okay, and?
>>740052039I would go so far as to say I don't think the PvE mindset is optimal or realistic. You would have to make some pretty good PvE systems to make it fun. But people grind WoW for hours per week, and there aren't as many systems as a good horizontal (and vertical) progression sandbox MMO would have. You could probably get away with capture systems via quests and other activity done in a zone, but the gameplay has to be good enough to fulfill the fantasy of being out in the world doing cool things. ARK does varied gameplay really well through mounts. Managarmrs, Snow Owls, Griffins, and Gigas all serve really unique functions that make sometimes really challenging taming worth it. Manas have boosts and dodges, and you're riding around on a giant, winged wolf. Snow Owls can AOE heal, making sensitive KO taming easier to manage, plus free health for the rider in sometimes very extreme conditions (quickly lost hunger and thirst, leading to lost health, in sandstorms and such). Griffins are fast winged creatures that are really powerful but can't be breeded. And Gigas have some of the best enemy clear speeds in the game. It would probably be optimal to explore mounts and other playstyles, like stats, procs, and abilities gained through equipment. But you can look at EVE for systems you can replicate with computer characters -- Exploration, Faction Warfare, Wormholes, Officer Farming (Belt Ratting), etc. I guess good AI is easy to make if you don't if-then it all; see chess.
>>740052115Dailies can be anything, which is good. If you need to increase money generation, dailies would be a good way to do it, plus you get people out in the world.I would probably use contracts to let people buy into the possibility of a reward, probably both.People that don't like dailies are probably just upset that the game is linear and the world isn't deep.
>>740049804>A living world sandbox is the solution, right? Those have already been tried and they inevitably degenerate into sex pervert furfaggot homo tranny fests. Every time.
>>740052581Is this one of those "I got world PvP'd once" posts? There aren't that many sandbox MMOs. And we haven't even gotten to quality. It's always more fun exploring and doing any activity when you know it leads to something economical or powerful. Vertical progression games don't have anywhere near as much of that. And then there's whole world PvP -- every task is risky. So, what sandbox MMO am I supposed to be playing that takes up my precious 16 hours per day after doing 9 to 5 gamedeving?
How did the French manage to make the best MMORPG of 2026?
>>740049804>A living world sandbox is the solution, right?People don't want to compete for resources or land. They want to be led in a straight line or they want to run around with rocket launchers and shoot babies in the face. Unless you make it a no-pvp sandbox with some sort of government/GMs in control at all times to moderate "good behavior" and make sure everything is fair but I doubt anyone wants that.
>>740056626>People don't want to compete for resources or land.I mean its pretty hard to do when you need to compete against poopsockers who play 18 hours daily.

I don't think a single company has enough money, talent and time to make a sandbox MMORPG that dethrones the actual dogshit games dominating the genre, and even then if they do so I doubt they can make a profitI think this is why the Riot MMO is still going nowhere, they probably have ideas how to crack the code and do better than eg. ActiBlizzard, but they absolutely lack the resources to pull it off

>>740049804>A living world sandbox is the solution, right?Enjoy your dead game with 3rd person choppy action combat and meaningless busywork systems and non-existent artstyleLiterally all any mmo needs to do to be good is copy all of WoW's core aspects and just maintain it.
>>740065132PvP MMORPGs? Which ones? Oh you mean League where you lose nothing but a number on your rank when you get steamrolled. Even in a carebear MMO like WoW the people showed they did not want to be griefed all day every day by mentally ill poopsockers and the servers reflected that. How many PvP MMOs are alive today? How many are anywhere near their launch numbers or the ideal? You will never have a popular MMO like WoW with old style sandbox or PK systems. People don't want their time wasted.
>>740068698I didn't mean to imply hand painted textures or advanced sound effects, and you don't have to sculpt if you keep to simple mobs like a slime or a rock golem, plus you can get various tools to help you, even AI (texturing, etc.).To be honest, I would probably make procedural generators that set various mob features to slight differences based on limits. You could easily have dozens, if not hundreds, of humanoids, slimes, elementals, etc., just by making pretty simple-logic tools.I also want to think that you could get a variety of things like sound effects from supporters -- just give them the game for free if their content is used; put them in the credits.
>>740070693>Enjoy your dead game with 3rd person choppy action combat and meaningless busywork systems and non-existent artstyle>Arguing against a made up game.>Literally all any mmo needs to do to be good is copy all of WoW's core aspects and just maintain it.Firstly, why would anybody switch if it was just a WoW clone? Secondly, I can't think of designing and advertising an MMO without some basic innovations. We've had the same MMOs for 20 years. There needs to be risk:reward like material repairs durability so that people are kept on the edge of their seats and the economy has a reason to exist. I also can't imagine leveling being successful as a dumbed down, forced tutorial that massively segregates players and obsoletes 90% of the world

>>740071634>Firstly, why would anybody switch if it was just a WoW clone?Because it works and has been tested for over 2 fucking decades.Retards like you are why they keep trying to re-invent the wheel every single MMO and it's always games missing crucial aspects of WoW's core such as the responsive movement and combat but because it has something superficial that WoW also has like an inventory or talent points you label them as "WoW clones".There has not been 1 WoW clone, not a single one, they all fail right at the foundation.
>>740071748>slopAI is absolutely going to be used and used well in most, if not all, industries. Also, there's no difference between hand crafting every humanoid and setting up parameters like a character creator.
>>740070923I didn't say PvP MMORPGs, but EVE and RS both have decent sized concurrent players, and almost every popular game is PvP (see SteamCharts, MOBAs, etc.).
