Has anyone played this?Is it worth it?
>>740054156It's an RTS/City Builder. You have to build camps to house hundred of people, but zombies attacking camps causes snowballing as each camp infect spawns more zombies. There are missions where you control a single unit and can stock up on resources and research points
It's okay. At the end of the day it's just a tower defence game with some lite RTS stuff. Once you get through a few missions you've played everything it has to offer.
>>740054793Not true try no pause on 700%+This is the equivalent of saying after you've played aoe2 a couple of times you've seen everything
>>740054793What singleplayer rts would you recomend than?
>>740054156Pirated it. I like it but I have to be in a certain mood for it. I'm really shit at it so I need to focus which annoys me. Lot of fun though. Def worth pirating to see if you like it.
How do I git gud? I love this game but I cant clear the first level on 22%
>>740055712PerimeterImpossible creaturesRed alert 2 including all expansions through yuris revengeSpellforce 1Heroes of annihilated empires (literally we are billions but better, sequel never)Men at warCossacksIdk man there's lots of good ones.>>740055291>The game is good if you turn it to gookspeed button mashing """RTS""" gameplay
>>740055868That's Hella embarrassing lil broIm not even trying to shit on you, but thats the kinda stuff that would keep me up at night
>>740054156The lore is pretty shallow, leaving you with the afore-described 'RTS/City Builder' framework of the gameplay. It can be challenging, especially with the added options for increased difficulty. But once that wears off then the game is very quick to diminish. In the end, it's only worth as much as you love the mechanics behind it.
I enjoyed the RTS missions, they were really good, custom-made for my tastes, but along the campaign you're forced to play hero missions that are the ugliest, jankiest most boring crap I've seen since NewGrounds. I must have played three of those before quitting. Maybe they pulled them since then, since other people aren't complaining. I've also read that the devs are greedy kikes.
>>740056269Nah, when I mentioned getting a few missions into the game, and then getting bored, it's because most of the progression stuff is locked behind the mostly dogshit hero levels which are just wc3 puzzle custom maps but worse.
I think it was pretty fun but I always failed on the very last 1 or 2 waves and never won a match (survival game, 120 days, forest, medium pop)Never played the campaign because for some autistic reasons I wanted to win a normal game first.Maybe I should play again, any advice?
>>740054156Worth what? 20 bucks? If you like base building, zombies and tower defense yes 100%. If you like Age of Empires maybe get it on sale. If you only like zombies then no.
>>740056391The difficulty levels humbled me too. It's not a game you can just start playing on hard, but that's a good thing.
>>740056391It's just a tower defence game with a pre-defebce stage. Secure as much of your starting area as possible, then secure choke points leading to main area, then spam housing and industry, then spam more soldiers, then clear as much of the map focusing on more choke points, then when cleared turtle up your choke points. It's not a particularly complex game. We've been doing this for 20+ years in Warcraft 3 custom maps
>>740056529nta and been a while since I tried this game but do the zombies here follow pathways and openings in classic tower defense fashion? I thought they just attack the first building they detect, rendering TD strategies moot?
>>740056686They arrive from specific spawn points and path to your hq. They won't fall for things like classic maze cheese, but the idea is still the same>Walls>Defences>Space for thicc layer of archers>More walls>Defences>Space for thicc layer of archersRinse and repeat until you have a gorillion lines of defence
>>740056391Could be any number of reasons why you're failing. Maybe you're not using endgame tech, maybe you didn't expand enough and because of that didn't have enough resources to make the units and defenses you need. Hell, maybe you're just not making your walls THICC enough. More details needed.
>>740054156I enjoyed it a lot and I never actually touched the campaign, only skirmish/survival. Assuming it's asking price is still $20, I think that's fair. There should be a sake at the end of the month though.
>>740054156I like it but the lack of hotkeys for building things was so dumb I feel like in hindsight there's no fucking way that's real. How does someone make an RTS and leave the building grid without hotkeys? Do people really just click everything? Did I miss something? Am I the retard?
>setup for 30 min>wait 30 min to winits not good. play creeper world 3 instead
>>7400541561000 hours here. It is a concentration game. You fuck up once and you die. Sometime you can recover with luck and skill but most of the time you just wipe. no save scum. you work your way from 100% difficulty to 800% difficulty with 80 days on caustic lands with max zombie and maybe no pause. Even with 1000 hours I can only beat 800% about 1/20 time. It is a great single player RTS challenge offering much more than 1v7 turtle on red alert 2. Some element isnt very fair. Mostly on how zombie cascade and mutant aggro and their spawn position.
>>740054156It's fine, it's in the genre of "planning ahead" RTS. This game and Diplomacy is Not an Option are very difficult. Don't expect to beat it just because you've beaten Starcraft or something on Brutal. You need to actually think with this genre.
>>740056686IIRC some follow classic RTS AI rules (what's closer, what will fuck you over the most) most of the swarm follows an oldschool flock simulation algorithm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boids
>>740056391One of the big corrections I made to start consistently winning was not relying on entirely static defenses. Create a mobile strike force that can bolster the areas that are facing the most pressure, then move move that around to clean up quickly and minimize damage. Other things: layer your defenses so an oversight can't (immediately) snowball and end you. You can defend the early game with patrolling units rather than walls while you explore, plan, and build your economy. Just don't hold off on building too long or a witch (or whatever they're called) will blow right through.
>>740056064I play these kinds of games semi-afk alt-tabbed doing something else desu, so its on me.
>>740056686Zombie waves essentially spawn in on A-move set on your HQ. So yes, they will attack the first thing they see and never go around buildings or walls to get to your HQ.Roaming zombies use the noise system where they can and will get lured towards any nearby point if enough noise is made there. Noise is made by most things but the main culprit is fighting. Once they start pathing somewhere it's the same deal, they attack the first thing they see to get there.
>>740056761> thicc archersindeed
>>740057572Holy fuck I never noticed those juicy bonkers.Definitely wasn't made by woke people lmfao
>>740054156No it's unironically shittier on release than the simple zombie defense game in beta. The campaign is awful and pads everything.Even as a tower defense game it's way too random zombie gets in and fucks you up and you're only really building up to the actual end fight where you win or lose. Then they throw retarded rimworld rules where you can't for some reason in a defense game against zombies build too many layered walls
>>740054156Losing because a single zombie snowballs like crazy if if gets pass your defence is gay as fuck. Especially since a single zombie can hide perfectly in your base (out of LoS from your units) right from the start
campaign sucks
>>740054156Yes, it's extremely boring with a shockingly low variety of things to do or units/buildings to play with. Like pretending to play tower defense with almost any other actually fleshed out RTS would be better.
>>740058105Seriously, what a fucking slog.>make archers>have them scout and push back the zombies a bit, then put one or two in patrol/stationed in a tower at areas you've pushed out>keep pushing out for more room because every mission requires 400000000000 population>shit out 500000000 marines and let them go autokill everything on the map>make sure you have walls with a bazillion units behind them in every direction that zombobos could rush you from>jerk off for half an hour while you wait for the final wave>get one shitty upgrade and do it again, but with more of everything>or one of those dogshit ((hero)) missions>the rush missions where you just shit out 50000 units and speed it up are inoffensive I guess, kind of just a waste of timeI have no idea how you'd even fix it.I wish it had co-op.
>>740058105How do RTS boomers enjoy "dungeon crawl" levels? Nice strategy game, let's make it into a gay and lame Diablo clone now.
>>740058475You need to player on higher difficulties to alleviate the bordem
>>740058105Yes. The hero missions are fucking retarded, holy shit I cannot believe these are still in the game.
>>740058594Starcraft and Warcraft did it.
>>740057059How does your dopamine fried retard ass have that much hours???? Like holy fk you choose the most boring rts to dedicate your time to.
>>740057798>Definitely wasn't made by woke people lmfaoLike half her voice lines are her sultry, breathy voice talking about sexual shit. >"*moans* Last night was am~azing"Diamonds every time
>>740054156it's pretty fun, but has some strong problems toothe hoards of zombies are great, just hundreds of thousands of them and it's entertaining to slay them allthe game forces ironman saving on you for some reason. i enjoy ironman myself but i don't always want to play it and I can see how it's a turn-off.there are these like hero-based warcraft-3-expanion missions that are *almost* cool but they end up being kind of boring because you have to cheese a lot of them in slow methodical ways or else you just die. the game has a tendency to try to fuck you at the end of the mission too, and since you can't save you just lost ~90 minutes because OOPS WE ARE SENDING GIANTS TO 1 SPOT WE'VE NEVER SENT ENEMIES TO BEFOREthe skill tree i think is funi like how the resources worki like how it's a mix between a city-builder and a tower defense gamethe devs seem like twats though and they haven't updated the game in like 7 years or even made anything newidk i like this game a lot but it also pisses me off
Man I knew /v/ was shit at RTS games but god damn you guys are really exposing yourselves as mouthbreathing retards. Try the AOE2 William Wallace campaign on easy, that's probably more your speed.
>>740054156It tries really hard with it's single player campaign to invoke old SC missions but they don't hit for me. The hero only mission especially rip off Blizzard design to a much lesser degree.Try Against The Storm if the city building appeals to you.
I liked it but I remember either you get bored out of your mind on a lower difficulty or end up with very actively microing a scout unit to kite hordes while your marines whittle them down. The dungeoneering/hero missions felt like a very boring formality that you needed to get through just to get more resources for your meta upgrade tree.Is fun if you like RTS defense that'll kick your ass at some point and also enforces honor rules by not letting you manually save. My brother seemed to like Diplomacy Is Not An Option more but I haven't played it.
There's not much variety in the tech tree since the devs kept nerfing snipers and titans. Outside of the desert map where noise management is important, it's just better to mass produce soldiers while using a single hunter to kite infected. The campaign is terrible. There's a mod that lets you skip the hero missions and gives you the rewards for completing them.Ultimately the game felt like a custom mod you play on Warcraft 3 or Starcraft 2.
>>740054156I like this one better than TABhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2607060/From_Glory_To_Goo/
>>740060347What does it do better than tab? Sell me on it.
The game is very hit or miss. Sometimes you fail unfairly and it can piss you off other times you're like a well-oiled machine and conquer the entire map. I forget the unit, might be the minigun mecha, but if you can survive long enough to pump them out you can have roving death squads clearing out villages and swarms and when the final horde comes they can mow down all but the strongest zombies. Also having an army of upgraded snipers is fun as hell since they delete even tough monsters.
>>740060660Not as punishing for mistakesMultiple 'hero' captain units to choose from with different level up pools for weapon and ability upgradesTwo different factions to play as with very different mechanics, humans or robots, eventually gonna be able to play as the Goo in some updateMeta progression unlocks based on your playsPlaying on two fronts at same time, in space on the ship and on ground trying to secure the area before the ship is gonna land. Build and fix your ship with structures that benefit your ground war, orbital strikes, lasers, unit droppods, but the ship will get occasional invasions too so you gotta have enough marines on board too, but it's more simplified.Messy fights, despite the pixel graphics, units move fluidly and can squeeze into same hexes to cause lots of gore and limbs flying around once your artillery drops in.Semi randomized maps, few are totally static but most of the maps just have set features and generates random maps based on their termsMore cheaper than TAB
>>740054156I played if for like 10 hours before giving up on it. I like tower defense rts games and enjoyed creeper world a lot, so I expected to have a good time. But I could never get over how harsh it punished mistakes. A single zombie nibbled a house? Game over, half an hour down the drain. I read about ways to not get punished so bad like dividing cities with walls but the setbacks felt so huge that it didnt feel worth continuing. I think it is silly that you can put a single piece of wall and zombies attack it instead of houses, people calling it "scratching post" strategy.
>>740061128tldr, more replay valueless punishing for letting a single unit pop a habitat and the snowballing of shitMore choices of hero units who can pretty much solo the first 5 waves on their own without too much supervisionManaging the spaceship for buffs and extra arsenal support for your ground war
>>740061563>SpaceshipWhat? Isn't this some cyberpunk-adjacent universe?
>>740060347Great game, good music and great variety, cheap too.
>>740054156I've played for 450 hours so far. It's my goto game if I want to play an rts. Never played the campaign though, no idea if it's any good. It's a really solid idea, but somewhat janky execution. Like map generation is generally pretty bad. Unless you're a god gamer, you'll be restarting a lot at higher difficulties. As far as I know there are some clones, but so far I haven't seen any that are as good. It really deserves a sequel.
>>740054156The campaign in this game is the worst thing they ever added. Survival mode is some of the most fun I have ever had playing any video game, it's ball-crushingly hard and forces you to restart and learn a shitload, it's also how the game got popular to begin with. All the campaign does is shine a spotlight on the literal worst things that the game has to offer (cringe writing and voice lines) and pretty much just turns people off a fantastic game with no benefit. Even sadder when you think about how they could have used the dev time to make the real game better.
>>740058105Oh boy I just LOVE taking some time away from the zombie-rts-TD-mode to go play some half-assed diablo with deep and engaging mechanics like "do I attack-move here or do I attack-move there" while doing a stupid fucking point&click prop-hunt.Dumbest shit imaginable. The "protect the shanty tower" is also pretty bad.
>>740054156I'd love to see this mixed with a bit of Factorio where resources have to be moved and refined instead of having the player blob an ever expanding map..The game is fun but it's never discounted so I have never paid for it, the campaign sucked ass, the best of the game were random maps which became easier as the difficulty increased, don't know why.Still no idea what happened to the dev team, they made this and then called it a day.
>>740054156I hated how one single zombie is enough to start a chain reaction that quickly goes out of control and ruins your entire 2 hour run.Never finished the campaign because of that. Felt like too much trial and error to me.
>>740058814I enjoy game that the outcome isnt certain and there are room for improvement on my side for a better outcome. My strategy has a hit a cap however. As I said my winrate is only 5% at the hardest difficulty. So I lost interest when I was certain my strat and technique is a dead end. There are streamers who uses a more dynamic build for housing and ranger kiting distraction technique to cheese early waves. I refuse to use those due to my own stubborness. I want pretty town with a market and bank in the middle with at least 60+ cottage.
