>Reactorswhat the fuck were they thinking
>>740055631reactors is the best part of the game
probably "oh shit we didn't finish the game yet put some bullshit together with less QC"
>before and after cloud reactor
Coffee in the coffee hole.
>>740055631They're thinking "we have given you BILLIONS of tools at this point, you should finally fucking use them"
I never ended up building the jump pack on my abandoned first playthrough. I'm honestly glad it ended there because I would have been pulling teeth for a bitNow that I think about it the guy muttering to himself about "just needing to build a bridge" was probably a cheeky clue that I needed to try something elseclever but I didn't catch onto it until just now
>>740055898what is the enemy count in that area anyways it's got to be over 50
>>740055631Is it still a piece of shit, compiling shaders forever?
>>740056148It's probably more than Hydroplant alone
>>740055898enemies really didn't need to be so fucking tanky on top on having pinpoint accuracy
>>740056545Coatings save that now. You can put Disruptor Coating on anything to shred shields (put it on a shotgun and even a Jotun loses the shield almost right away), Acid Coating to hit all their weak spots, or Foggy Coating to ignore resistances of Jotuns. Coatings last for like 100 durability on the weapon (ie forever on Energy Pistol) so even 1-2 of one gets you through the entire endgame unless it's the only weapon you use.
>>740056775I don't care what retarded ass bloat these bitch devs added later.
A biotic factor of what?
>>740056880Ok, you should have explored your options and picked up a Plasmois Rifle to annihilate them trivially in 1.0, then, cool your tits.
>>740056441No, they dont take that long anymore.
>>740055631final boss sucksshould've not bothered having iteverything else is great
So how’s the enemy variety in this game?
>>740055631>finally get to labs with a bunch of my boomer friends playing once a week>im hosting with the beefiest machine out of the bunch, one is using a dogshit chink mini PC, the other is running a laptop with a controller, both running DX11 mode>game has been running great for me up until we get to wildlife pens, going around corners causes severe stuttering>dropping render scale to 90% and dropping view distance out of epic largely fixes it>do some searches while troubleshooting later>find out the entire game was made with UE blueprints by a bunch of people that were mostly new to gamedevdesu i have no complaints, been trying to avoid spoilers since i've been having a blast in it despite playing it way later than most would have been playing. probably one of the best survivalcrafts ive played of all time.whether ">reactors" actually means anything is TBD for me, but everything up to this point outside of comically bad and campy VA work and occasional performance dips has been a great time.
>>740057197It's mostly alright, it tries to introduce new enemies most of the time except in fucking Residences. You can now capture and level-up the lower-order aliens as well, and they're actually pretty great.
>>740057197combat feels really stiff and bland despite lots of different enemies up until you start getting grinders and craftable guns/high dps melee, but im personally impressed with the variety so far, my compendium isn't even halfway complete, and i've probably seen at least 25-30 unique enemies w/ 1-3 variants for a lot of the enemies, with labs really opening up the enemy variety once you get there.also, the crossover worlds/areas they've added so far have been really cool
>>740057431>spoileryou didn't like the Bigfoot that died instantly???
there's nothing wrong with enemies being tanky if the mechanics support it and abiotic does with incredibly overpowered limited-use weapons and lots of ways to avoid and heal damageif the last third of the game was just bulldozing everything now that you have military guns that would be way more ass than the order being legitimate threats
>>740057506Bigfoot's the worst offender due to also making no sense to be there at all, but the overall big picture that they're ALL shitty clone enemies is the game's biggest moment of shame.
>>740055631>cool idea for a monster>fun as hell in multiplayer, the most annoying piece of shit in single playeri know exactly what they were thinking, they just didn't think it all the way through
>>740055631>buy game>get to the kitchen>realize it's just one of those games you'll beat once and never play it again>refund>watch a 100% playthrough instead
>>740057625speak for yourself, i've played through it 3 times doing various goofy bullshit with the janky building mechanics. game's fun.
>>740057593I unironically find it easier in single player because it's super consistent then. It's not like it's complicated to deal with, so the knowing is the biggest part.
>>740057247It runs significantly worse than their previous game, Unfortunate Spacemen
>>740057625the kitchen? 5 minutes into the game?
>>740057850YesThis was the same reason I refunded Grounded as well
>>740056880The other anon is correct. You are a weak, retarded bitch and it's absurd that you had any trouble in this game when energy weapons annihilate everything.>>740057247Reactors is great. It's one of the few challenging areas where you're going to actually use all the shit you've picked up.Even if it gets hard, you can just throw a bed down before a fight and revive instantly with no penalty. If your friends are super duper turbo boomed out (like most of mine), build the 2handed energy cannon (shoots red beams) and two recharge pylons (they function like batteries) and use that thing to trivialize the game.
>>740057741admittedly, part of the issue i had with it was having built a table against a wall next to a door at my main base in silo 3 offices, didn't playing with subs for the longest time, and would have game volume down while i was in calls with people. she got me twice before i eventually relocated to the aquarium with a different table layout that kept doors within my fov during crafting and she ceased being an issue for the rest of the playthrough to the point that i felt kinda bad when i put her in containment
>>740057741It's also the fact that your friends aren't distracting you and they're not dying repeatedly to it after forgetting or not believing what you told them about the Leyak for the 50th time.>just wait til I come back from death and we'll continute!>actually can you come find me? I got lost on the way despite your constant paging and am actually across the facility now, haha>nvm it got me again>hey we're out of soup now
>>740055631I didn't even hate reactors that much, but it really felt like it should have been basically the penultimate area, and there is way too much content after it. I was completely burnt out after the reactors and never really recovered. I only finished the games because my friends carried my ass through the finish line.
>>740058293>we're out of soup nowi spent 3 days straight just making a literal chest full of meat and sustenance soup and it has lasted over 5 sessions where we take our time with each area.im basically the only one that engages at all with the cooking mechanics. utterly thankless job, but it allows the group to focus on shit they enjoy more, and the amount of effort they went through to making cooking not something as autistic as something like zomboid's system was something i always found impressive.otherwise yeah this is almost verbatim a convo i had with one of my mates. im pushing 35 and it blows me away how bad my almost 40 friends are an spatial awareness when navigating the place. by the time we got to the furniture store, i was constantly ferrying them to and from the office sector because they'd otherwise get lost and caught by a containment bot. it worries me that i might have rapid cognitive decline in the next few years, and the first thing to go is remembering how many times i turn left or right in a fucking video game
>play through game>reactors takes a long while in part due to always running back to base to store loot and build stuff>otherwise none of it is really that hard>worst part is everything from shadowgate to the end takes as little time as security sector did>didn't use any of the new fangled alchemy system and still had zero issue fighting anything beyond running low on ammo at The DestroyerIs it really just a skill issue on the part of everyone who thinks post-labs is "too hard" and "sloppy"?
>>740058848not really. balance is hard for games like this that try to cater to all playstyles and have a pretty long progression chainunironically that's what apocalyptic is for
>>740057247Prepare to be bamboozled by the voice work then. I don't remember if this is already the case by labs, but they dropped the attempts to badly emulate Half-Life's poor audio quality with the voiceovers and both the audio quality and quality of acting improves greatly.
>>740058971i already noticed fwiwabe and janet are still goofy, but you can tell by the time that you get to labs that they seem to have done the game in order with everyone sort of upping there game as you go along. hell, even manse's VA gets progressively good at being "cave johnson, but smarter and sane" with each new recording
>>740055898
>>740058762I have some good or potentially bad depending on how you view it news for you. Some retards just cannot remember directions literally at all. As a young(er) retard myself people around my age do this in video games as well.
>>740055631Geez this game is so bad at the end.So annoyed from positive reviews on steam, from peeps that played just 4 hours max and saying GAME IS GOTY!!
>>740059516>plays 60+ hour game to the end>a lackluster ending (that some people even enjoyed) invalidates all of what kept you playing up to that pointidk you tell me.you did play for yourself, right? you didn't blindly trust reviews for 50 hours of gameplay thinking "it'll get good" only to finish a game you hated, right?game is good, and i know you're baiting btw
>>740059882Yes, I've beat it with friends, we were very disappointed at the end. Last two locations. It's just bad and stinky. We were playing 1.0 release.
Replaying the game. I went blunt first and now they added all the new weapons for it so I'm butthurt but at least I can do pets. How is throwing?
>>740056065I skipped the entire underwater segment of hydro by using the long jump pack, the maestro armor, the rise portal world buff, the A+L soup to build up speed and the anti-gravity cube to jump from one of the towers to voussouirMight've used a jump pad too, and now you can eat a slice of pizza to jump an extra like 10%I love me jump pack
>>740060552I skipped it too, i was too fucking scared to go into the water... but i had to go there anyway for the cubes.I literally just looked into the wall and put sound off with the teleporter beacon in my hand.Playing this game solo and blind was one of the most fun experiences i've had in gaming recently. I think playing with friends it would make Security and so - so much less intense.
>quit after reaching labThe sense of wonder, uneasiness yet slightly magical just isn't there anymore compared to Manufacture and Offices. Heard it get even worse from then on. Guess I am right on not continuing any further.
>>740060726Even playing alone, the best way to completely make security your bitch is to get a bunch of fiber optic cables from the forge and making those little red lanternsthey last forever on only one charge once you place them, you can place them on the ground as an item, and they are bright as fuck
>>740057917The problem with reactors (and arguable every part of the game afterwards) is that you immediately run into the next craftwall. You make [thing], open a locked door and walk in and immediately run face first into the next locked door. The right way to handle the progression would be for you to play through the area, collect a bunch of cool new resources and then find the progression gate. Instead it's more like you walk in, immediately hit the progression gate and then have to explore out to the sides and grind for shit for however long it takes until you can move forward.
>>740060726>I think playing with friends it would make Security and so - so much less intense.Yes, playing it with friends made the combat portions fun because getting gibbed was fine if others could keep holding aggro. But then the non-combat parts just don't have any room to breathe, there's no way to stop and read lore stuff or slowly look around and take things in.
>>740060804I actually tried something like this but it didnt really help, it still made me shit myself. Loved it.
>>740060439i don't know what to tell you then.>>740060790labs is when the game opens up in terms of base building complexity and actual shot to do. you missed out.
>>740059882You watched a 2 hour movie and left a review because the ending didn't resolve anything? Fucking chud

>>740061645>even more pointless busywork
>>740056938Of you.
>>740062635gaming is pointless fundamentally. if you don't find the gameplay engaging, it is what it is, but all games are busywork unless you give your play meaning.
>>740060790Manufacturing Sector is by far the worst part of the game, even reactors are more fun. Offices and Lab are the best parts of the game though.
Abiotic Factor is so strongly inspired by half life that just like that game, it absolutely shits itself at the 3/4 mark after interacting with large high energy lab machinery and transporting the player to a new location.Reactors was where the imagination ran out, everything after it is absolute unfettered arse. The fact that they take your jump pack away and NEVER give it back purely because they don't know how to balance it is a surefire sign that either the game's length has exceeded it's story, or they've gotten sloppy.I wouldn't be so mad if they didn't shitfucktouple down on their very own Xen situation and insist it's fine as is, they clearly have dev capacity since they're adding other stuff but won't overhaul the late game.
>>740057593>hear the little gay grunt while I'm crafting>do pic related>it vanishes>go back to what I was doingI'm playing by myself so it's probably easier to deal with when I don't have to share my x-ray gun.
Game really just needed to balance enemy health vs the shit you can craft. Also the survival aspect feels trivial after a while which is kinda sad since the setting can get pretty immersive.
>>740057593They actually nerfed her a little bit, she used to be much more aggressive and had a longer spawn rangeI'm not sure when it happened exactly, the first time I played was right after the fishing update and beat hydro (end of the game at the time) and then I didn't pick it up again until the Christmas update last yearBut she was way worse before, she'd chase you much farther and stick around longer if you were in a big area like Labs and she couldn't quite get to you for a while
everything at hydroplant and after is just damage sponge spam
>>740062765Manufacturing is cool but it sucks that there's barely any reason to return to it beyond the tram entrance where the Blacksmith is, and sometimes the Train.
>>740063060She loves you, anon
Why the hell is bleach locked behind crafting until reactors where you finally can start finding them sitting around? Why do we need to fish to craft it?I know it's a dumb nitpick for something needed for only 4 hats + useless decor skull, but it still irks me that a common cleaning fluid is so rare.
>>740057593>>740063264I recall there being a bug where you could have multiples of her spawn, but that was fixed.

>>740060439Residences is a little poo.It needed much more time and another big antiverse map. Ending is super poo.AB is an absolutely brilliant game regardless and everyone should buy it.Only change Id love to have seen is map progression inside the antiverses themselves using the tools you unlock. So by Hydroplant you get more of Flathill or Security allowing you to freeroam the zombie antiverse streets with some interesting things there also.>>740060552Fuck that stupid fat whale bitch. Maybe giant bugs from the macro antiverse to avoid.Residences using the leyak but blue was the only true shit move in development.Surely they coulda had something frosty and evil to hunt you other than a reskin.

So by Hydroplant you get more of Flathill or Security allowing you to freeroam the zombie antiverse streets with some interesting things there also.this feels like a missed opportunityi was fully expecting this to happen more given the gel portion you can do to access more of flathill but it's so few and far between. being able to access an entirely new area in somehwere like far garden using jetpacks (not gonna spoiler both the very first portal world + something everyone knows you eventually get) just kinda sucks.im still happy for just how much game i got for for my buck, but it's little shit like this that makes it feel like they really did just kitchen sink the entire thing and leave certain mechanics on the floor.

The office lobby is way too convenient as a base location. There is no reason whatsoever to build anything anywhere else for the entire duration of the game.
>>740076197There is one reason to build anywhere else and it's the only reason that matters: FUN.
>>740075269This but unironically.
>>740076197There's no reason to confine yourself to it after teleportation becomes available, just set up a bench next to Warren and a PT that goes there. Replace it with the pad when available. Takes barely any time.
>>740076634>bases open up in Reactors (the final 20% of the game)amazing
>>740074619No, worse: You get a cleaner for shitcorn you have to get from somewhere else.
>>740067075Hopefully never, that game is for faggots who think animal abuse is cute and funny.
>>740076197How is it that only I and some group of streamers that haven't touched the game since security was the newest area thought to set up shop in the pool room? Prior to unlocking the dehumidifier way late in the game, it's the easiest source of water.
>>740076197My favourite place is the big building in hydro. It was also really convenient cause you could jump pack all around the place to the quick travel water pipes. It also had huge kitchen which was cool.
>>740078346>it's the easiest source of water.because most people settle at cafeteria and drink from the fountain
I settled in the hallway next to the battery charger, elevator and the flooded room

>>740060790that webm makes me want to play call of cthulhu DCotE again just for the ship sequence.
>>740055631Yeah, our group also lost our interest in the game when those discount Space Marines started being everywhere. >>740076197Security room above the Foundry entrance was peak comfy.>>740057593It was funny as fuck with 5 players, but sure, I can imagine how irritating it gets solo. Getting ambushed by it once in couple of hours is nothing, but every 15 minutes or so would just get grating.

I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do a playthrough where I don't build a Security Office base
>>740088149Only done one playthrough so far, but the only bases I had were at the very start in the office, a temporary one in manufacturing above the forge, and the 3rd and main one for the rest of the game in the labs, above the aquariums.
>>740088149The place at the bottom of the hydroplant with the forest seems like such a cool base location but it's too far into the game
>do a more thorough solo playthrough lagging behind a coop playthrough with my bro>spend significant time cooking and fishing and misc shit>it's all a drastic waste of time because the best foods are only minorly better than food you get very early that requires next to zero investmentalso what's been added since the greek homeworld dropped, that's when we beat the final boss and stopped playing
>>740091205Christmas themed world opened up along with a cabin base location. Chemistry system that doesn't feel super fleshed out since you stop getting stuff about 2/3s of the way through the game. Does have some weapon coatings that let you absolutely buttfuck end game units and made Cloud Reactor feel like a joke to my double barrel. No reason for end game foods though. Soup still offers considerably better or good enough buffs to make the rest feel pointless.
>>740060552Really? I just used the gravity cube and jump pack with a pad launch and made it.

We all agree that base invasions are more annoying than anything, right? >Can just turn off one of them with a craftable>Only a few enemies show up with the others and are so easily dealt with that you dont need to make turrets What's the point?
>>740096035Everyone one of these survivalslop games needs base invasions for some reason, but everyone hates it so they're never made actually dangerousThe most annoying one was trolls in Valehim but you could fix that by building your walls far enough out from the buildings that they couldn't just clip half your base with one log swing
>>740096035mostly just force you to drop what you're doing elsewhere and defend your base, or at least be physically present so your turrets function properly instead of always losing the auto-battle
>>740096169I mean I understand why base invasions are a mechanic in these types of games. But they are never done in a way that feels good. >>740096216Or, just take your easy to craft telelport mug and get back to base, stab the one thing that showed up, and then leave.

>>740096216Raids actually don't exist at all until you load the area, you can postpone going back to base for as long as you want. Sometimes it even gives up.
>>740098015some people don't see it but there's upgrades you can do to workbenches might be worth looking into...
>>740078346I thought about laying a bunch of bridges over the water and forming a base in there, but I kept getting fucked with by mobs.
>>740055631They probably trusted that you were smart enough to create the right tools for what was clearly going to be ahead, and were betrayed by this notion. The only thing I could possibly say was annoying about this part was the end where you had to have just enough forcefield nullifying grenades to progress, because they are near worthless to hold onto otherwise.
>>740055898it's astonishing how fighting in a war can full in the holes in your ears and create new ones
>>740098082... fuck me I've been doing it wrong this whole time
>>740076197I’d love to build in places outside of offices but the cart return necessitates at least some proximity.
Reactors was the best filter desu because it expects you to adapt and put everything youve learned (or what you should have learned) into practice and getd you ready to deal with The Praetorium aka the best portal world.
>>740097428>farming>cooking>soup>lots of soup>endless soup>I don't want to spam the buy commend on vending machines for 20 minutes I'm making soup and drinking water asshole>SOUPWater coolers drain fast. Boiling and later filtering water benefits most from having that unlimited sourcethough I've honestly never actually considered the infinite water source that is the fountain in the lobby
>>740055631>what the fuck were they thinkinglet's give players an awesome level to use all fancy science weapons now
>>740055631Reactors were the casual filter so it's no wonder/v/ hates it.
>train a pack of murderous Peccaries since Labs>equip Core Companion and Exor Armor later>not only is Reactors easy as fuck, the battle on the hill of Cloud Reactor gets taken care of automagically while I cheerleadThey didn't like the turret section though, I had to stuff them all in my hotbar
>60 hours in and I just realized how can deploy stuff straight from your inventory instead of putting in on your hotbar first
>>740116887It's really inconsistent in an irritating way. Like shelves don't work with that. Most paintings too.
high level cooking giving you basically nothing is a travesty
>>740116009I didn't realize the pet system was so powerful. Maybe I should start a whole new save and let them do all the work this time.
whats the best place to farm meat? the village?
>>740117329It is a bit wonky so be careful.1 - NEVER log off until your pets are in your inventory or in a bed, this will 100% prevent despawning.2 - If you use a Sow in battle (it's a nice ranged attacker to support the crowded frontline), equip that one to your COMPANION slot because the MILK prompt overrides the REVIVE prompt for some godforsaken reason, you don't want a mistake of not carrying a vial at the right time to delete hours of progress if it permadies.3 - The Alpha has the best overall HP and attack growths, but replace it with a Volatile Peccary when you can (same offensive stats+acid) or just raise a vanilla Peccary until you can Volatile morph it. The Alpha gets so big you will start having to pick it up and place it just to get it through doors.4 - Don't trust your non-Companion Slot pets around bottomless pits too much, they can and will fall off.
>>740118356current gang
>>740064262To be fair I used Manufacturing a lot as the more convenient shortcut hub, since the portal on Office 3 shits you out close to the blacksmith, and from there you can get to the portal to the Labs and the portal to some other area I can't remember (the one that's in the mines)
>>740117291Are you quite sure of this
>>740056943you need a heart of corruption for plasmois, you won't get one until mistand people will just abuse the deatomizer instead anyway
My biggest issue with this game was how every fucking enemy in the mid-late game was a bullet sponge
>>740118052If you just need any old alien meat, it's hard to beat the small cave area underneath Kovak in Manufacturing, actually (up the road from the Blacksmith, going right into Kovak's little space, take the portal in here). It's very quick and efficient, a lot of peccaries, pests and carbuncles densely packed. After that Might be lower level Labs with the Wildlife Pens and the big clusterfuck of Electro Pests in the aquariums, THEN Exor Village. If larva meat will do, there's also the Encroachment for a lot of larvae.
So is the alpha a male or female peccary? idk what to name mine.
>>740124282Signs point to female
>>740095389What you mean is you decided for them that it sucks and isn't fun.You did skip content for them. That's a portion of the game they didn't get to experience the intended way.
>>740124282I always give them grandma sounding names. Ugly old Gertrude or Agatha mauling soldiers just seems correct.
>tfw no qt Gatekeeper gf
this is probably the shittiest and most dragged out, paddiest game me and my friends have ever played and we vowed to never play it againthe entire fucking game should END as soon as you reach the forgejust a bunch of retarded dnd statsheets where you need to hit something 500000 times with a certain weapon type that youll never have ammo for until you can equip- whoops the game's over..>walk through corridor>open door>open another door>craft a poodongle to put into a slot, opening a hatch... that leads you back to the corridor non stop gridbased rooms leading back in on eachother like a really really embarrassing dark souls-map take 50 fucking hours to beat the campaignoh your friend got a piece of kit? oh it takes 6 of these things that only 2 enemies in the entire game drop and youll need to wait 2 hours for 2 of them so thats 6 hours of waiting and grinding youll do to equip one more playing on this server. enjoy waiting for this thing that you might as well have since theres no reason not toohmygod
>>740056148By the time you get to reactors you should have either the crystal armor for skipping encounters or the exor armor so the spirit can tank for youand now you have the stealth watch and peccary pets to make it even easier
>>740125520>oh it takes 6 of these things that only 2 enemies in the entire game drop and youll need to wait 2 hours for 2 of them so thats 6 hours of waiting and grinding youll do to equip one more playing on this server. enjoy waiting for this thing that you might as well have since theres no reason not toWhat on earth is this part about?
>all this shitting on reactors but no talk of which specific enemy in it sucks the most dicks
>>740126431They're a bit annoying but they aren't very dangerous and you can always open with a slushy bomb to nuke them down before they get their shields upWorst enemy is obviously the Jotunn
>>740126431I just stop worrying about em once I unlock the Hypercross Magbow, which if you can land the headshot from behind, will 1-hit kill them. Even the big bad Mystagogue right before the final boss can be killed by this. And now that everyone has pets, getting around the shield while solo is pretty simple too.
>>740126431skink em
>>740126431I've never died to a mystagogue but I don't understand why they decided every single thing about them should be annoying>spawns an add >throws fire on the ground that gives you a dot>frontal unbreakable shield after you shoot him>gravity repelling field so projectiles are deflected away from him and it can be difficult to approach with melee>grab attack with marth range that deals damage through armor>loot often goes flying around the room at mach 5 upon deathUnironically, once you know how to deal with them, corrupted bots and jotuns take less time to kill. Corrupt bots are stuck in place once they start pissing, and jotuns are surprisingly easy to knock out of their firing stance with a shotgun blast to the face after the shield is down.
>>740059882I bet you like ruined orgasms
>>740126431Pic unrelated? The actual worst enemy.
>>740130646The fuck does he do other than be a reskin of order Capt's? The biggest let down of the order goon squad.
>>740127085be annoying>>spawns an add That dies in 1 to 2 shots with the weakest things>>throws fire on the ground that gives you a dotWhich is easy to dodge and avoid because you usually fight them in open areas>>frontal unbreakable shield after you shoot himSkink shoots through it as well as electron grenades>>gravity repelling field so projectiles are deflected away from him and it can be difficult to approach with meleeThis is telegraphed and easy to tell when it happens>>grab attack with marth range that deals damage through armorAlso heavily telegraphed and easy to avoid>>loot often goes flying around the room at mach 5 upon deathNever happened to me.
>>740130769Nothing at this point of the game is a problem besides him because he can proc severe bleeding more often and his grab has better range than the mystagogues
>>740093710hate this motherfucker like you wouldn't believe Constantly blocks doorways.
>>740093710He shows up at the most unexpected times in the most unexpected places.
>>740131012I didn't even realize his guns procs severe bleeding. The HL source AI of making them pussies that run and duck for cover really doesn't mesh well with late game where you're decked out in gear that makes you a walking SCP breach hazard.
>>740131785Ive had the opposite but its usually in groups, theyll be aggro and sometimes run up to you to grab and headbutt you which does a good amt of damage, meanwhile the mystagogues throw always feels like it doesnt do much damage. First time I encountered a mystagogue I was scared to fight it until I realized I needed to for the eyes. After beating one it was really lackluster, I dont think Ive ever died to one of them meanwhile the chieftains have managed to kill me twice and its always been when I underestimated them and in groups.
>>740130646I can see it. His AI is just pure annoyance.>roll>pew pew>roll>roll>pew>roll>roll>roll>rollHe seems like the best target to take out because constant bleeding is trouble, but reality is that he's actually going to dance you through a pile of more powerful enemies if you didn't instagib him.
>>740057197>Tiny pests jumping at you>Dog-lizards running at you every 5 or so seconds>Lizardmen who either punch you, shoot an energy ball at you or teleport.>Later variants like pests releasing electric AoEs when jumping or Lizardmen shooting several weaker green projectilesFrom there you've got:>Gun guy>Sniper guy (these stay dead)>Shotgun guy>Guy with a stick Technically you've also got a few other enemies like pilgrims, the invisible crystal assholes and zombies but those are all fairly generic. The crystal assholes are basically just lizardmen who run away and can turn invisible. There are more but that's 90% of the game.
>easy to craft>trivializes every encounter>works without powerWhy did they make it stronger than every weapon, its not even locked to the last or the second to last area.
>>740133876Forgot pic
>>740057845Based. One of the 300 people on the plenty who's actually played that game. Actually great Sus-like game thats criminally underated. It always surprises people when I tell them that arcade machine and poster are a real game you can play right now on Steam.
>>740133919simple: unless you look up a guide, you can only ever get the recipe by being a loot goblin who steals everything not nailed downnot many people found the sword their first time in the furniture store
>>740133876Wrong that's the carbon pickaxe. Soon as you get it with the running attack. The game is over. Nothing ever matters anymore.
>>740057625I got a group of 6 friends to agree to play it. 2/6 were as excited as I was. We had to delay our start by 2 weeks & in that 2 weeks I started and finished the game completely solo. I just couldn't put it down. I then played it with them and had a great time yet again. No less than a week after we finished, half the group was trying to do another playthrough, but I convinced them to wait for updates and content before we do another full one. I convinced them to wait a year from launch, which is coming up next month now.Gotta say, I love how this game is a year old and still gets threads relatively commonly. It's a great game. So many survival craft type games really fall off on creativity as they go on, but AF doesn't. You keep unlocking unique weapons til the very end. There are a couple reskins along the way, but most are unique. If I was a New Zealander, I'd be extremely proud of what my tax dollars went to help bankroll. These types of grants are usually on a "pay it back if you succeed" type of basis, and this game most definitely was a financial success.
>>740134051I like it but it rarely ever gets players. I played it with /vm/ years ago.
>>740125520You know you can adjust the server settings in the main menu right? Just lower the difficulty my brother.
>>740055631reactors were good actually.
is this a game where sessions last one sitting like Deep Rock, or do you build up on a server over months with a group of friends like Valheim?
>>740136548As long as you don't have one friend trying to rush through the areas, a playthrough could probably take a few weeks
How's the VotV collab? I love that game. Worth a replay for?
>>740134174what? we took the sword and shield just to use as is because they looked cool.
>>740136826It's side content, essentially a purely cosmetic sideworld. The other stuff they added since whenever your last playthrough was like expanded pets are more of a draw
>>740136548I've done lots of multiplayer gaming with pubs and friends. Including 2 FULL solo playthroughs.>Random Co-Op is generally join early and play for a couple hours and never see them again. Create your own fun helping people or just fucking around doing weird shit like building a 1 person base in a portal.>Sometimes if you actually like the random people. Add them and play some more. Done it a couple times myself.>Playing with a couple buddies (1-3) is probably the best experience overall. To many players while still fun leads to almost all the challenge kinda being sucked out. Hey but the more the merrier so have at it.>Solo play really only sucks when moving large amounts of objects (like your base location) but because of scaling and only needing 1 person of gear it's rarely an issue everywhere else. Also it gives you the freedom to just skip shit you don't like and grind out stuff you don't without worrying about what other people want to do.
>>740136895then you fall in the latter category of at least checking to see if you can take the items
>>740137406well yes, we were playing abiotic factor. You know, the game where the ENTIRE time you are crafting shit out of random bullshit you find on the ground
>>740137691yeah you'd think so but a lot of people miss the laser katana recipe because they never grab the sword
>>740137973luckily someone in our 4man grabbed it just to use it. We lost our shit later when they announced they learned a new recipe
>>740060790for me it was taking the pipe into the mushroom ridden area in hydroplant. The game was wearing on me until then and something snapped when I got down there. Probably more fun if I wasnt solo
>>740076197that's 100% intentional. Building bases anywhere else is just for fun (or a forward base)
>>740083846>never saw a symphonist until the very end of the fog>ran away and hid somewhere>never knew what they did (until I read the wiki well after abandoning the game) and never waited around to find out in the future
>>740094685...did you fuck the Leyak?
I replaced leyak with Miku and I was looking forward to seeing her again instead of being annoyed, would recommend.
>>740118884It's kind of comfy to walk in and you just hear all this snoring.
>>740143184My favorite is the carbonated pest popping noises
>>740125520>The game should end when you reach the second area!I know they say zoomers have no attention span, but holy fuck.
>>740143184Which ones goes honk shoo and which ones hooonk mi mi mi?
>>740076197I tried making another base outside, but the place is just too convenient for me to let go. I do want to turn that entire island into a HQ but goddamn I can't.
>>740133876>>740133919This thing feels outclassed when you get the Hardlight Saber but it's utterly unmatched at tentacle clearing in the final fight. And now with coatings, it's the longest reaching melee weapon to do weird stuff with.
