The game is not only racing.
It also has:
-free roam highway mode (like in GTA)
-cop chases
-demolition derby arena
-driving games and training

The sequel of this game will have full city with missions and ability to get out of the car. But first game in series will be a bit limited, the highway mode won't be as open as in GTA.

I finished GTA2 back then, but somehow had way less fun with it than with the GTA1 demo.
GTA3 was neat tho, although I spent 90% of my time just tank'ing around in the city (and the other 10% getting that fucking plane to fly properly).

Yes there is a tyre model and forces act on each wheel separately. There is also many tire type, offroad tires, racing tires, road tires.
Suspension is very simple but there is load transfer simulation, when you take a corner there is more load on external wheels than on the inner wheels.

Next time I will make a video where load transfer and forces are displayed.

Indifferent. Considering the short time-to-kill permanent upgrades are probably irrelevant, but maybe mario-kart style powerup could be nice. Not actual mario-kart but maybe having the pit stops randomly held wheels grip boost, chassis health/armor boost, etc could make the game more interesting - or if destroyed vehicules could drop something.
I dunno, the main problem is that your game is so barebone, nearly anything added would improve it.

Can't complain much about the top-down camera the cities in 1 and 2 were designed with it in mind and in III that camera mode was more of a leftover, but gameplay wise the OG GTA's are just too arcade for my tastes. I mean literally, the whole "you have one shot at this and you gotta finish it in one sitting before you get to the next stage" design just doesn't speak to me, with III I could cut it up in smaller playtime chunks with saving.

Yes I'm a zoomie that started with SA then retroactively played 1, 2 and III. I mean, III was pretty ass and R* managed to polish a ton of it's issues within months with VC, like not getting turned into a fireball from a few bullets or a few fender benders. Even 1 and 2 wasn't as spastic as III with that.

Nah IV is a league of it's own. It's like the Halloween 3 of GTA, technically a part of the series but it's so detached from the formula, yet at the same time it's so good that it's a separate entry. One, you had the first GTA on RAGE where to this day a lot about IV aged really well, like the Euphoria ragdoll. Two, you had R* taking a shot at writing a serious crime drama for their story rather than getting all wacky like they've done so far. Yes it was polarizing but IMO it's still a classic and I hold it at the same level as SA.

And like I said, III was reaaaally fucking rough around the edges, R*'s first 3D GTA and it was a pain to play through. Guns were too powerful and cars were too fragile, so you could never go back to the first island because of the mafia mob. It also made it a pain to play some missions with how easily you could be shredded. A lot of that has been recrified with VC, but with SA R* took more time to polish out their Renderware formula and that iteration was the most solid. You could no longer explode a car by driving against the wall and a single enemy with an submachine gun couldn't explode your car in two seconds. Plus, III's story was just meh, it was before R* started giving a fuck about that. VC was a homage to Scarface, with SA being their first proper story-driven entry. III has it's charm but let's not pretend it wasn't a rough stepping stone for R*.

GTA1 was less ballbusting than III, VC was made in less than a year and made the 3D formula way more playable. I was aware of that, but again, the old gameplay formula of 1 where you have one go at finishing all the missions at one stage was pretty fucking ass. It was a game for the PC, not for the arcade, and even then it was a pretty hefty game where this arcade concept of "one shot at one level" didn't work well.

Used to play the shit out of this on Dreamcast. I can still remember the day my friend told me they were making a 3. We were so hyped for 3, and it did not disappoint in the least.

Looks good OP. I like the driving physics. Don't bother with wheel damage, it'll make it less fun. For engine damage I'd say make it smoke, an engine knock sound effect as it gets worse, and start reducing power when it's close to dying. Maybe make the car explode if the killing blow hits it near the fuel tank.
I'm curious about how much control you can have over your car in a slide, and I suggest adding some sportier cars, or tire upgrades so there's an option for more traction
