Metroid is objectively crap. Even for its day it was a crap. I don't remember anyone ever giving a shit about Metroid until Super Metroid came out on the SNES.

Zoomer here. The original Metroid on NES is one of the only Metroid games I ever bothered to complete, alongside Metroid II, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime Hunters. I beat it on the original system with an NES Advantage joystick, on a Game Boy Advance (pictured), and on my 3DS XL.
Super Metroid is an overrated slog and Other M sucks ass.
