she's not really a murder machine she just deals decent damage really, much worse if the enemy has a res stat (sorc and strategists mostly), most units will actually outdamage her easily, but she just doesn't die, and after taking 0 damage the enemy now has sealed res for even more damage, and if they actually managed to damage her she now deals even more damage with fiery blood.
if enemies on birthright had the brain to ignore her massive defense stat when they can't deal damage to her she'd actually be in a very similar situation to benny really, where yeah he's a good tank but the enemies just ignore him or hit on his weaker res stat or with shurikens seal defense and posion strike in bennys case

I think it's hard to see what the practical difference between a gigatank and a Vantage tank in Fates, especially in Birthright. But this more speaks to what a juggernaut is than anything specific to Rinkah (or Ryoma). I always point out that you can literally make Ryoma clones in Saizo/Kaze, Odin, etc., but the difficulty is in assuming that they actually get that investment when Ryoma is free.

Dex only matters if you have assblastingly bad amounts and exists in a game where accuracy boosting is rare/hard to access.

In Diamant's case, high dex would be appreciated for proc skill fishing (see Alcryst/Timerra) but you offset the 20ish dex he'll likely end with by simply attacking more times via doubling and emblems. Marth!Diamant for example when built towards doubling can attempt anywhere between 2 to like 10 fishes of Sol in a given combat round. The law of large numbers will do the rest.

I know people don't like to hear this type of metafaggotry, but since you're making claims about what is good and not, you invite it: Diamant is not bad because of his personal class. He can't help what is personal class is. It's like saying Kagetsu is bad because Swordmaster has a low strength growth, therefore Kagetsu's strength growth is low. It's asinine, you're literally evaluating him unfairly.

You have to put units in a comparable, desired class and see what their averages say. And it turns out Diamant is kinda mid but not especially bad. Now if you want to use him in his base class, you're committing to a glorified Hero with a mediocre self-heal, and that's on you, but it will at least make him unique.

So, cut through the hype and break down what Ryoma is. He's a unit in Fates and the same rules that govern the math of the game apply to him.

There's nothing about this that is specific to him. He brings a unique flavor of it with Raijinto, but a lot of it is Samurai doing the heavy lifting. What do Saizo, Kaze, and Odin have? 1-2 range, high critical rate classes, and Samurai skills. Odin can even use Mjolnir which is a 1-2 range tome with 25% crit rate, and has a personal skill that grants 10 crit rate and a class that grants another 10. If you throw Gamble in there from marriage (he can afford the accuracy trade), that's another 10 crit still, if you feel like getting memey with it.

tl;dr: Ryoma is a "contingency/RNG tank" rather than a tank-tank and you can scrimblo these yourself if you feel like it

Kotor and especially Kotor 2 due to weapon finesse. Dex builds felt wrong for me initially back in 2003 because big strong jedi wants to use laser sword and dex is for ranged fighters.
Then I finally caught up and made the pea-brained connection that dex both improves defence and ranged weapons but strength only improves one field, and in 2 it improves melee too.
2 in particular has baity skills like duelling that make you think using one lightsaber is viable if you want but the nature of being able to carry two sticks that both give you stat buffs over one that can only carry so many means by the end you end up with some hyper autistic +14 DEX monster who can't miss, can't be hit, and because there's so many items that buff your stats anyway: its probably an INT skill monkey too.

So babby's first build-optimizer I guess. It didn't stick though, I don't have the patience for digging through D&D games as long as what I have works.

It's pretty easy to crank up attack power in Fates. Kaze is the worst of the three but you could still do it. There are a bunch of spirit dusts in CQ and magic targets the weaker defensive stat.
Here's the numbers on an optimized 20/20 Ryodin:

>10 personal skill
>10 Sorcerer
>25 Mjolnir

Ryoma himself expects 37 crit with his optimized setup at level cap. So at this point, the differential lies in their speed, as they have very similar bulk profiles. And yeah, you would have to patch up Odin's speed to make it really work but there are speedwings and pair-ups for that.

Some of the late game enemies also have 70+ avoid. Look at this Diamant an anon posted yesterday. He has 20 DEX and 138 hit with a silver sword (90 hit). He would need a +30 hit engrave to have reliable accuracy on those enemies, so what the fuck is he going to do with those 60-70 hit heavy weapons he's supposed to be good with? Late game enemies average around mid-50s avoid. You can't just engrave all of his weapons either, and you don't have infinite 30-40 hit engraves. Ironically, when I used Diamant, I made him a Warrior, which is supposed to be the best physical class in the game that fixes anyone, but he still sucked ass.

You're still seriously overstating the impact of le dex cap on Diamant. Ivy has comparable dex to Diamant with even worse luck so her hit rates are far lower since swords and tomes tend to have similar hit rates anyway.

130 - 50 = 80 Hit, so the true hit is far higher than that. Wolves with their 70 avoid are generally hard to hit for most of the cast, this is not a unique issue for Diamant.

Ivy has similarly shit hit rates but for the most part you can just slap an engraving on bolganone and call it a day. On the other hand diamant relies on more than just one weapon to be useful and at that point it's too much of an investment to put multiple hit engravings to patch up one unit.

The Great Knight Diamant in that image had 138 Hit. Succ has marginally more hit thanks to higher luck but it doesnt really matter. So the values earlier would be higher.

There are 7 accuracy boosting engravings but you legitimately do not need to engrave every single weapon that you use for hit, that is a fallacy. Many weapons get extra hit from being forged.
Many emblems give you at least +5 Hit when worn, especially at that point of the game when you're going to be at max or almost max bond rank.

For example
Lyn!Tomahawk +1 = 105 Hit
105 + 43 = 143 Hit
That's already 73/93 Hit without skills, supports, emblems against those enemies.
Let's suppose he couldnt get any of the big +dex/lck emblems and had to settle for Roy. +2 Skl/+1 Lck on engage can average +4-5 Hit.

The different sword skills are magic stat based, so you need to level up in classes with magic stat growth.

Was Hecc literally made for Diamant? The final version of QR only requires 60%+ of HP. Even if Dorkamant pulled off a Sol proc once per enemy phase, you would expect him to stay above such a generous threshold, considering all the natural HUGENESS Hector gives besides. Heavy Attack means you go big on the Tomahawk forge, don't worry about reducing its weight at all.
You can even activate Backup-version Storm's Eye for +20 crit on a clutch turn and this will prevent any breaks.

Linked Attacks
This is a slightly modified version of the “support bonus” system that has appeared in most Fire Emblem games to date.

When a character engages an enemy, if there are allies that can target the same enemy from their current position, a linked attack will occur. This will boost the character’s Hit, Avoid and occasionally Might depending on the number of available allies (up to three) and their support levels.

In fe12 levin swordmasters are useful in a couple scenarios and you might reclass a unit to swordmaster near the end, but if you have the stats for it you'll skip over swordmaster and use the significantly better class, horseman.
and in fates it's something you might suffer through for the sake of skills, unless you have a special 1-2 range sword

I've always been able to intellectually understand every complaint about Rinkah even when I think they're overblown, except this one.
A brass club has 1 less mt and 10 more hit than an iron club. It's the BETTER weapon. Rinkah is fighting fucking Dark Mages at WTD in the prologue. She joins at Chapter 4. Corrin joins Chapter 1 also with E rank. And people are used to dealing with E ranks much later in the game as units start to promote.
Nigga, they didn't build her wrong. They gave her the best-in-slot weapon for what she is expected to fight in the upcoming maps and assumed players could put up with the measly 20 battles to get to D. 20 battles is like, half of Mozulogue from absolute zero. This is assuming you do nothing for her at all in prologue and Chapter 7, which she dominates.
It's just such a nothingburger issue. I can't remember the last time I even bought an iron club in BR but throwing club is nice I guess.

It always made more sense that the "coordinated attacks" were just an illusion. Like Marth isn't actually attacking there, his visual swings are just timed with Alear's, who are real. Which is also how it works in combat.
The only exception to this was Lyn shooting Morion. Even during the paralogues, they state the places they fight at are weird and attuned somehow.

It greatly depends on the unit. There's really no hard rule, but having a capped stat is usually a good sign that you should be promoting. If you're resetting them feel free to goon to level 20 20. It may cost you a few resets but you'll have a better unit at the end of it all. I think you've been mathing in the lab a bit too much. What Ryoma ACTUALLY is a huge ball of stats that arrives halfway through the game for no real cost.
I find it weird you neglect to mention other things that are unique to Ryoma such as the fact that his class gives strong bonuses to avoid and crit, a weapon that gives further avoid. Like, avoid is a very strong form of defense that is more or less unique to him thanks to the traits of Rajinto and his class.

While it's not wrong that Kaze (saizo is dogshit) can have all those traits he'll never match Ryoma's Atk and speed without some serious steroids that you can give to Ryoma instead. Similarly Odin can reach high crit rate with Mjölnir he gets penalties in avoid for that and if you want defense and give him Nosferatu he will lose his offenses and crit.

It's objectively a complete waste of resources tyring to turn other characters into discount Ryoma when you have Ryoma. What makes birthright boring is how centralizing he is to the team

Birthright endgame tou can literally just walk to the boss and kill it. Chapter 27 is just a bunch of mooks, the only hard part is remembering the 4 Berserker that suddenly decided to have skills.

The hardest part of the game isn't where you have the most weapons, staves, facilities, stat boosters, and your 14 deployable units are each nukes of their own that can blow battles into pieces.
