It played like clunky shit while somehow, paradoxically also having movement that felt floaty and ice-floorish. It's such a jarring game to control. DeS, DaS1, Bloodborne, DaS3, and Elden Ring didn't feel like that at all.

DS2 felt like they gave a bunch of indian interns a copy of Dark souls 1 and told them to make a sequel. Completely devoid of soul.
what's good about it
The only time I "hated" DaS2 was in my first hours playing the game, realizing the trailers were bullshit. When I actually got "into" the game, I loved it and replayed it more than any other entry in the series.I even downloaded an .iso of the PS3 version so I could have the OG experience again, complete with the gay Shrine of Amana.

It's the best souls game. Original enough to not feel derivative (unlike DS3 which is a linear hallway simulator with no exploration), and plays better as every sequel should be (DS1 is buggy, clunky and broken and generally not worth playing)

Good ideas but terrible execution do not get a pass.I like some the changes and additions made, pretty much everything to do with how covenants intertwine makes it the most naturally active PvP/Coop Souls game, but insane dogshit like ADP does not get overlooked becasue I thought the way it did powerstancing was sick and should have been the new norm going forwards.

there's a few things i didn't like. weapon durability was a serious issue in a couple of areas. the bonfire ascetic thing...was interesting. It felt like chests were a lot more fragile than in DS1. You could destroy them accidentally and permanently lose shit or an enemy could do it. And I think there was a limited amount of that material that de-petrifies things? The magic and faith spells were all great though.
