What genre was Lego Island?
>>

vaporwave ware
>>
Adventure. Although, there really isn't a lot to the game.
>>
Racing mostly, or things like racing since all the missions were timed and ranked based on how fast you got to the destination.
>>
>>740195418
it's part of the lego genre

Exploration. You're exploring an island.
>>
i was always very compelled by the suburban area on top of the hill, with the homes. that part of the island felt very out of the way and had no real part of the gameplay so it had a surreal vibe to it

Keep your screaming child in one place genre
>>
>>740195418
Incredibly based and worthy of a franchise beyond a sequel genre.

Adventure Game.
>>
Whoops! You have to put the CD in your computer.
>>
This game has a certain quality to it that has never been repeated. I don't know what it is but the game is like a work of art.
>>
>>740203272
>2-4 fps
I felt every single frame and did not care because I was too busy trying not to get kicked in the ass by that giant fucking skeleton
>>
>>740203469
The studio fired the entire staff of the game to avoid paying them bonuses the day they released the game, then when Lego wanted to fund a sequel they had to awkwardly admit they liquidated the entire team.

>The whole castle section
>Building shit piece by piece
>Brickster bots
>1-2 minute loading times
etc.
It definitely had a lot more content, but not the kind I wanted.
>>
>>740203659
i tried playing this game recently and it felt almost unplayable within the first 30 minutes. i dont know theres just something about it that feels really weird and unfinished.
>>
My friend Blake introduced me to this game when we were kids. His mom was hot and I jerked off thinking about her in the shower once. It was the first and only time I've ever jerked off in the shower because I found it super uncomfortable to do it while standing. It made my legs start to go numb. One time at his birthday party we were all deciding what movie to watch and I wanted to watch Treasure Planet but everyone else picked the Recess movie, which is a good movie, but I had already seen it and hadn't seen Treasure Planet. I still haven't seen Treasure Planet to this day.

The castle section was truncated to fuck. Still, driving has never been like skateboarding, and the hot air balloon sequence mogged the entirety of 1. Personally, I liked 2 even though I felt that some of the minigames needed some extra attention
>>
>>740204193
You should go watch it and think about that milf again
>>
>>740203569
My african brother, I had to anticipate at least 5 seconds ahead for the next frame to see if I turned enough or overcorrected on that race.

When you do ripoffs you can do whatever you want with them, but when you license everything you have to stick to strict guidelines.

>tfw getting the bad end as a kid
:(
>>
>>740202535
It also had kinda creepy music. There were so many areas in the game that were just pointless to ever go to, but as a kid, I was certain there had to be stuff that I was missing, because I couldn't comprehend the idea that all this game was was doing various races. That didn't make sense to me for a lego game at the time. I loved going around and transforming various scenery objects though, and I must have been super autistic, because I made every scenery object a streetlight, and I made every NPC's headwear a cat.

It's a sequel in name only. The two games share nothing in common besides the characters.

The original lego racers game has plenty of original themes in it including Johnny Thunder for what it's worth.

For me; it was driving around near the police area and going up and down the hill over and over and getting stuck on the new game selector building. Then wandering aimlessly around the island for hours and doing nothing

>>
>>740208551
I think they still make them, I see them near the registers at Target but they're all lego city since it's easy to just pop a minifig in with a tiny vehicle and some other pieces
>>
>>740208090
I loved how all of the buildings were actual sets that existed, except the Information Center, and it always bothered me that they never made a set out of it.

>It's a sequel in name only
and that's a good thing
