Absolutely GOATED

But I don't understand how I was supposed to discover HALF this games secrets.

You were supposed to buy the strategy guide anon.

Partially this, but game design back then rewarded exploration, I don't think I got the strategy guide as a kid?
And because smrpgR is the only faithful remake square is apparently able to do, a lot of those secrets were a treat for return players
I'm thinking about playing through a 3rd time, I love it so much
My only gripe is the bloodless, soulless UI
But that's small potatoes when compared to everything they did right

Adding those triple tech moves (as unbalanced as they felt until you got into the post game content which will curb stomp you unless you're prepared) was absolutely awesome new content to see.
>>
I wish they added one more party member. not sure who (not luigi though)

Squaresoft game btw
It's basically Final Fantasy 6.5

I was gonna say a mole person, but I feel like they'd be a Bowser esque clone.

I would've loved a ng+, but the bit of new content they did add felt mostly organic, and was entirely an improvement

ArtePiazza developed it, their track record for remakes/enhanced ports is quite good.

Strategy guides were dirt cheap back in the day and featured all sorts of direct rip art, additional story details, and usually a poster. I had guides for this, DKC2 and FF6. Unmitigated kino.

Love the remake BTW, I'm on a thiedbplaythrough myself. The SNES version was my first RPG.

Oh perfect

And one of the best changes was how big he was in the overworld compared to the original which shrunk him before the battle

Oh man they could've made him the Magus in the remake (optional party member you can recruit)

The only remakes that stand at the pinnacle like this are the ones that you can instant-replace the graphics ala Goldeneye XBLA leak and Halo CE remake, both years old.

Also Wonder Boy 3 Dragons trap remake. Metroid prime 1 remake could have done it, that one seemed 1:1. I super love the tomb raider trilogies, love them all. Damn, I love video games so much.

I played through the cancelled XBLA remake on 00 Agent until Aztec and had to tap out (not that the original was any easier), but god, fuck that level.

that's real. It's been so many years since I touched the N64, several of the levels tripped me up. The graveyard stumped me since I didn't think the entrance (exit) could be opened, it looked like a static, unmovable door. I had to super super lock in to beat aztec, I couldn't just skip out on seeing egypt. Egypt (and come to think of it, the vents in aztec) had a couple erroneous sprite placements, floating images in the air.

It was really good, I'm sad we can't play it officially

I'm also super mad we can't get it on steam on pc. I can pirate them but I want to give them money to play blast corps, among other games.

Also the music is so tight in the goldeneye n64 game. I can only hope the newest bond game is good. I shoudln't spent so much time shitposting on /v/, it's taking away from my gamer time, and Mina won't beat itself.
