Why are you gay?
Haven't played it but I don't believe you. It looks just as garbage as the original SH2.
>>740209456Are you gay or trans?
>>740212238Neither.
>>740209456Everyone agrees with you so there is nothing to ask
>>740212459ok, but I'd like to add that it generally made all the characters too sympathetic and missed the point of their original purpose.James is feeling worse about himself, and more of a loser to look at, while his act of killing his wife is depicted as even more violent with a struggle now, making him more genuinely hateable, as he's constantly apologizing to himself for being horrible, while having actually been horrible. In the original, it's the grief of hating a sick loved one that's permeating the game, and smothering Mary with a pillow was more or less just a suggestion of the "feeling" James had, as a loving husband but giving into his inner demons in that impulse. They tried to make James less sympathetic and make Angela and Eddie more sympathetic. They're foils to James. Angela being the victim, and Eddie being the offender. In the remake, they've made Angela much more pitiful, to make us feel like what James has done is a threat to her, while in the original she's just a mirror to his self-blame saying "I'm a real victim, stop feeling so sorry for yourself, man" and Eddie is the other end, being a guy who had every chance to do well, but succumbed to his worst habits, and voices of his bullies. He's become a fat guy, and a murderer but you can tell he's just a guy who's in control, making him irredeemable, unlike James who IS redeemable, and not a straight up murderer. But in the remake Eddie is also given some uwu-points, and it's meant to say that James is worse than him.The original game's journey was a realization that James isn't as guilty as he thinks, that it was just the overwhelming feelings that made him feel that way. In Remake, he's made to be borderline irredeemable.
>>740214192Meh. I dont think the reason it misses the point is the plot. It's about the game being a lot less weird and alienating. everything looks too slick and the performances are conventionally adequate. Plus the environments are considerably less claustrophobic to make room for the new camera and revamped combat. Not to mention the texturework being a lot smoother, making things look cleaner. Then there's moments here and there that are made worse because you could feel the pressure of the devs to take the game seriously, so much that things like the pyramid head scare at the rooftop was changed into an epic cutscene. The remake is still fun but in no way replaces the original or can be seen as a general improvement. The plot and dialog were okay in my opinion. But it just doesnt land because of shit like i mentioned.
>>740209456Demake is fucking garbage.
>>740214192>>740214552This, but combine all the negative points
>>740209456>IMO Silent Hill 2 Remake doesn't get itI agree. My big problem with the remake is that it is too long/padded out and there are way too many enemy encounters. I think if they at least cut the enemies down by 50% then it would be a better game.
>>740209456Why is called silent hill 2 when it has nothing to do with the original game?
>>740217405It takes place in silent hill that's good enough, unlike baldurs gate 2 which doesn't even take place in baldurs gate city
>>740209456Is Pyramidhead unique to James or can it manifest to anyone who wishes to be punished for their sins?
>>740217405That's like asking why did they call it Final Fantasy 8 when it's got nothing to do with Final Fantasy 7.
You don't get it, change my mind.
>>740217405Why are you such a faggot?
>>740214552Some of that is not because of graphical realism or the realism of motion capture. It's a direction error, or a decision-error. For example, the new game looks almost completely grey most of the time. The originals looked very grungy and desaturated indeed, but they did not look like "The Conjuring" or that new way that you have to "tone" something just because it is a horror film. You can argue that was just a more 2000s look, but I'd say the originals were toned between Jacob's Ladder and a David Lynch film. And David Lynch is a much bigger influence on the originals than the remake, to the remake's fault.Because the absurdity didn't just come from randomness. It was also an aspiration to make things look and feel like the absurdism of David Lynch, which are also borderline nonsensical movies that carry their narratives through strange internal logic, and characters appearing and disappearing out of thin air and never pointing out that everything is weird. That makes the remake awkward because it's pretending to be more pedestrian in tone, but it has the same oddity of the town not feeling very believable, as characters seem to be in places at random, and the town isn't lived in.A lot of this is an error of knowing what you're making IMO, and Bloober Team were too focused on capturing the essence of the original while overthinking how to make it look like a modern picture. And they did this awkward blend of SH2 Classic and The Conjuring visually speaking, and directing it the same way Neil Druckmann might've directed The Last of Us, with very self-serious ad-libbed performances and mumbling characters. it forgot the part where the originals had David Lynch in their forethought.
They added darksouls dodging instead of actually doing something with the combat. I played it on my ps2 a long ass time ago why the fuck would I buy the kindest silent hill but remade with more mid.
>>740218026>kindestMidest
>>740209456The tone is a lot different from the OG and it's certainly no replacement, but I enjoyed it. I thought the acting and mocap was really good
>>740217619There's literally no internal logic or canon to any of that. It's just a piece of imagery that's self-consistent for the duration of the story they told with SH2, in which case it's just an enemy spawn of the sort we see in Silent Hill's world, that represents James's self-torment, and craving of punishment for a bad thing he has done. But they kill themselves at the end when they realize he's turning a new leaf, and overcoming his self-guilt, to instead just confess and admit what he did and move on.There's no logic to any of what happens in these games other than some loosely applied ideas, like the first game primarily being manifestations that's based on Alessa's nightmares, that Harry sees because "the town is doing it" or something, whereas in SH2 a completely different logic applies that each character, both James and Angela, see completely different realities based on what their nightmares are.And the only hint of possible canon is that the cultists released an airborne drug through the town, and the "snow" you see in the first game is just that drug, and the general fog of Silent Hill is actually just that drug dispersed, which is why people hallucinate. But there's really no encyclopedic truth to any version of any of these games, and there never was. The writer of SH2 himself said he wanted people to ask "what are they trying to say" and "why did the writer choose to show that"Pyramid Head is just a metaphor. Nothing more.
>James won't look at himself on the save screen anymore after you watch the tapecool little detail
>>740209456What did they mean by this?
>>740218079Yes. It is very good, and so superficially faithful to the original that it can seem like an improvement just based in the actors being very immersive, but I find that the subtleties overstated in the remake, and changing their meaning ever so slightly. Especially Eddie, I think he was meant to show that he's a guy who had every chance to do better for himself and stand strong in the face of people making fun of him, but instead he became irredeemable and never looked inward, but if you look at him he's ultimately just a "guy". Remake Eddie is someone with is sickly obese and seemingly isn't in control of himself, and is basically now a "crazy guy" who fell victim to bullying or something. I feel like they overemphasized his fatness completely in the remake, probably as result of some Hit Detection LLC interference saying "we need to treat bullying and obesity with SENSITIVITY". And as such he can't just be to blame for his own problems. It makes his confessions and shootout seem more "fucked up" than it needs to be. His role in the story is to be a mirror to James. At that point in the story, James truly believes he's a killer like Eddie, but we see that Eddie has "lost it", and proceeded to ruin himself when he really could've not done that. And James can look at that as a mirror, as can we, and say "Okay, James is not THAT." and James begins to realize he's over-punishing himself to the point of making things worse. You come out of the "Abyss" now, and seek the truth, and then James confesses to himself that he did kill his wife, but she reconciles with him, saying "if you hate me then why do you look so sad?" and he's coming to terms with the fact that he cut her last days short, but he ultimately loved her, and isn't an inhumane monster like the rest of the game was falsely accusing him of, but it was the horrible momentary feeling of evil that he couldn't forgive himself for.
>>740214192>wasnt even asked a question >vents his faggot blog post Nobody cares faggot. You get zero bitches and will die a lonely virgin incel
>>740218079I still prefer the original game, but remake james is a great interpretation of the character and im glad we have 2 good versions of the game
Silent Hill 2 Remake is garbage. How is it survival horror if you have to kill hundreds of enemies? The combat itself is shit even compared to the original. Silent Hill f is a way better game. It was one of my favourite games of 2025.
I like the part where they put smells like teen spirit on the OST.
>>740209654Not OP, but I've played it, and it's literally SH: Homocoming 2.0 - yellow paint edition, with Doom 2016 style combat rooms, DEI firm consultant censorship, and UE5 slop graphics 'n performance. The pacing is awful, nu-acting terrible, cinematography massively downgraded, and no one wants to replay this shit.
>>740218623The nu-Jimbo is fucking annoying prick, and the demake sucks donkey dicks. The voice acting especially is literal MCU tier grunting.
