The art itself is "just" for Famitsu's 40th anniversary... Except that they've put two entirely new girls in.

Switch 2 is already amassing an armada of ecchi kino anon, LoveR Kiss already in the first year (way more ecchi than Gal Gun, has JS and JC, Gal Gun only has JK).
Aquaplus finally got bought by a non-snoy company and the first thing they said they're doing is porting Dungeon Travelers to the Switch and making Dungeon Travelers 3 a Switch exclusive
And now Inti Creates is leaving snoy behind, the new Gunvolt being SW2 console exclusive was a hint of where Gal Gun was gonna end up.

It's too bad Marvelous inherited the ideology of snoycuck Tacucki (who bought Concord btw) and now they're talking of "making a new Senran Kagura for the modern times" (meaning they want to still ship it on snoy). I will celebrate their bankruptcy.

I saw a lower resolution version before so I thought the blond girl in the back was just Kaoruko, but I guess it isn't. Doesn't the dark-haired girl look like she could be related to Lyse or even a younger Lyse? They have both young and adult Kurona in the pic too.
>>
They will tease it for a decade like the brown girl in Majogami.

Lel, not without a patch it isn't. Gal*Gun trips all the major flags that get games banned from Steam nowadays
>school setting/uniforms
>ecchi content
>flatties
Gal*Gun Returns released in the last year that Steam was relatively safe for ecchi games. By 2022 they had banned Duel Princess, Dungeon Travelers 2 and Chaos;Head Noah all in the same year.

Dude, you know that Kenichiro Takaki jumped ship after sony wanted to be californians right?
>Takaki joined Cygames as general manager of the company's new console division formed on April 1, 2019. His initial work included being producer of Project Awakening and an advisory role on Granblue Fantasy Versus and Granblue Fantasy: Relink.[6]
>Takaki described his relationship, position, and compensation with Marvelous as excellent, saying that he felt driven to take on a new challenge and that having to distance himself from previous work was painful.
I think he'd still do the franchise the way he wanted if he could, but now he knows that Sony wants to be colossal fags, it's easier to just say goodbye to it. Blame Marvelous and Honey Parade Games instead.

https://www.rpgsite.net/news/20033-aquaplus-yukes-show-interest-in-bringing-dungeon-travelers-tears-to-tiara-to-current-platforms

Note the "current platform" being talked about here is the Switch 2, the conversation was in relation to the new Utawarerumono only being on Switch 2 thanks to this company buying out Aquaplus, and from there the conversation shifted to other games they will be porting.
Utawarerumono only released last week so you're probably looking at some time next year for ports.

That's a core part of the experience too, it's both your screen-clearing "smart bombs" for the shooting sections and the way you gain stats for the VN sections. They can't just axe that without completely overhauling the entire gameplay loop.
I really hope Inti has a plan here. Assuming this isn't a total nothingburger, of course. This could very well just be the the art they made for the 15th anniversary earlier this year that they just sat on for some reason.

The important part is the presence of new girls, it doesn't really matter if its just "presented" as anniversary art fluff.

how do you even use that thing where you stare at a girl and turn her into a bomb? just feels wildly unsafe to try and set up.
>>
>>740217513
It will either be severely neutered or be PC-exclusive like this developer did.
>>
>>740217669
They had already turned Doki Doki Mode into its own side activity that didn't interrupt regular gameplay in GG2, if it has to be excised entirely it could be. I wonder if it could still be kept in since it's not too dissimilar from regular gameplay, I assume they'd at least have to cut the clothing removal but it only had that in 2 anyway. Returns is more recent and its DDM is way more tame.

Everyone will shit on them for it and the game will just end up being a giant PR disaster. You can't just excise something that's been part of the series since the beginning and expect your audience to just accept that. It'd be like Senran Kagura removing the clothing damage. Sure, they COULD, but is it really worth betraying your audience and series' identity just for a shot to release on mega-cucked platforms?

I'll believe it when I see it. Just because one game managed to slip by uncensored (only in Japan) doesn't undo the multitude of other games that have been censored or blocked by Nintendo the past couple of years.

Regardless of nu-industry guidelines I felt like by 2 and Returns they didn't know what else to do with the series. Going metroidvania but keeping the charm was refreshing.

For instance if they set it on a school trip they could have a variety of different places.

>>740219636
>it happened on the switch 1. for like 2 years?
5-6 years. From the start of the Switch, Nintendo was courting ecchi game devs like GUST and Inti Creates and showing off stuff like Senran Kagura Reflexions in their Directs, and they more or less gave these developers free reign on their platform until later 2023. Both Playstation and Steam cucked out before they did, but Nintendo cucked out for much worse and less repairable reasons (they want to be a kid-friendly multimedia empire now), and under the very same president that was once buddying with these devs, so it's not even a takeover scenario like Sony becoming Californian but an outright betrayal.

Gal*Gun 2 and Returns
Senran Kagura Reflexions
Mary Skelter 2
Dragon Star Varnir
Omega Labyrinth Life
Various qureate games
>any new ecchi games? hardly
After 2020, yes, but that isn't really Nintendo or the Switch's fault so much as it is that ecchi game development mostly stopped completely by then with only ports and qureate remaining because few developers were willing to abandon Playstation to make uncensored Switch/PC games. Most of the big Vita ecchi publishers like Compile Heart, D3P, Marvelous, etc. all more or less gave up on ecchi and started self-censoring after Sony started banning and censoring them with only qureate and Eastasiasoft ports of old Compile Heart games left to carry the torch of Switch/PC-exclusive ecchi. It is only just now that we are getting any hint of new developments in these series and yet the specter of "global standards" still looms larger than ever.
>>
>>740220283
Nintendo allowed creative freedom shortly after Sony started censoring and moved HQ to California. That freedom lasted around 3 years and then signs of censorship started to appear. The shift from Xenoblade 2 to 3 and their respective release dates is all you need to look at.
>>
>>740220524
qureate just recently admitted they cucked out to "modern standards" as well. We truly have nothing left.

>>
>>740220524
yes, third-party otaku dev support on the switch 1 was nowhere near 5 to 10 years. it was closer to what this poster said>>740220581 and my 2 year estimation was low-balling it. but so little was released that that is how i remembered it. for the switch 1 to be an "ecchi haven" the output was way too short and too little.
>>
>>740220754
I was merely giving a timeline of when Nintendo wasn't scrutinizing third-party releases to when they started, but yes, the actual dev support was pitiful after 2020. Yeah, we got multiplats, but that just meant we got Sony's sloppy seconds. In the end, almost no one was willing to make uncensored games for just Switch/PC and now it's even less likely they'll make games for just PC. In all reality, these games died with the Vita, the last true otaku console.

>>740220754
I'd say 3 to 5 years give or take. You have to look at when games began to develop as well. XB2 released 2017(basically 2018) and 3 2022. Both began development earlier than those dates, so naturally the mindset at Nintendo regarding fanservice content was probably different as well. The cutoff was kinda around 2020-ish indeed, like that other anon said. True freedom for 3-ish years and then it all started to slowly creep back in.
>>740219921
>so it's not even a takeover scenario like Sony becoming Californian but an outright betrayal
Yeah, betrayal is a good way to put it.
>>
>>740220996
Third party devs had basically free reign from 2017-~2023. Nintendo first party was only based from 2017-2020.
>>
>>740220620
You can't even really blame them for it, it's just what happens when you're dealing with an industry ready to deplatform you at a moment's notice. You can be the most based developer in the world, but you're still dependent upon a supply chain and if the suppliers aren't willing, there's not much you can do except beg the government to tell the suppliers to let you sell your shit and that's going to be hard when the suppliers are basically saying your shit is child porn. Qureate are just speaking from experience, they want to avoid another Duel Princess scenario where the game got banned from every major platform and only allowed to sell on minor PC porn stores with minimal userbase.
>>
>>740221081
i guess that is true. i mentioned mugen souls earlier and eas ported it in 2023, which i thought happened way earlier. me saying the third-party support window was 2 years was quite wrong.
>>
>>740221081
In hindsight, the shift in their first-parties foreshadowed the shift in their third-party publishing policies and I think that's what the other anons are saying. When Xenoblade isn't allowed to show risque outfits and ecchi with the Nintendo brand any more, it was only a matter of time before third-parties would be affected as well. Fire Emblem Engage was the most censored Fire Emblem game since Fates and all of it had to do with "underaged" characters, and that was right before they started targeting third-parties for the same things.
>>
>>740221097
I understand that. I take issue with how they actually responded:

>Mr Usuda: Yes, it’s certainly a difficult issue. Firstly, whilst it’s inevitable that some people might find our games ‘disturbing’, we do want to ensure that no one is hurt.
>For example, we have a game called *Beat Refle*, and we received feedback from players who said that the massage scenes in the game reminded them of experiences of sexual harassment. This made us realize once again that such people do exist, and we’ve decided to take care to ensure that no one is hurt.
>Of course, it’s difficult to get everything absolutely right. Even with *Bunny Garden*, if someone were to say, ‘It reminds me of being sexually harassed in a bar,’ I wouldn’t know what to say. Given that the theme is night-time work, there are certain aspects that are, to some extent, unavoidable.
>Mr. Usuda: The most important thing, above all, is reaching as many users as possible. I’m sure that’s a priority not just for us, but for other manufacturers and platform providers as well.
>Mr. Usuda: That’s right. I think we’ll continue to create “games for gentlemen that are as easy to play as snacking on chips.” Within that framework, I’d like to take the titles that have been loved by our users and expand them even further.
>Usuda: With a male protagonist, the premise of “manual labor to pay off debt” works well as a joke, but when it’s a female protagonist and she ends up “taking on debt to work in the nightlife industry…,” it just doesn’t feel funny anymore, does it?
>Usuda: It’s hard to keep it at a level where it’s still funny.

They admit to chasing a "wider audience" and making everything as safe and sanitized as possible because some """players""" who treat fiction like reality might get upset.

I.E., they want to be able to sell on platforms with a decent userbase.
>because some """players""" who treat fiction like reality might get upset.
Those people are not just on Twitter, they are working in the companies themselves deciding what can and cannot be published. I guess you can say they are pandering to these people by proxy because platform policies are based on them, but in the end it's mostly just about what they can sell without being banned to the H-game ghettos. It's just going to get worse with time because Gen Z and A mostly think like this and they're the employee hiring base.
>>740221652
It's kneel or you can't sell your game and go bankrupt. At some point you have to realize your ire is misdirected. You don't have to buy modern qureate games, but you can't fault them for not wanting to be the ones going up against the entire industry's ideas of what's acceptable to publish. If Capcom, Bandai Namco, Square Enix, etc. actually mounted serious resistance to these platform policies, you might actually see some real change because they have actual clout and could actually deal real damage to Sony/Nintendo's revenue by pulling support. But not qureate, they're little more than a rounding error on these companies' incomes.

>>
>>740221839
>It's just going to get worse with time because Gen Z and A mostly think like this and they're the employee hiring base.
I don't think that's really true. The people you're probably thinking of are just a vocal minority of fags (usually with mental illnesses) who would want nothing to do with a company like qureate anyway. They're also pretty much all in the west. Japan is still mostly free of those types.
>>
>>740220620
You have Dragami/Sweet One with LoveR Kiss Endless Memories (just released an update for upskirting wind gusts btw) and Tokyo Clanpool's uncensored PC edition on PlayAsia, and that's basically it unless you go to H-games. Who knows if Dragami are going to do anything else with that series? I'd like a port of the Reco Love games with English, but those are going to have the same issues with Steam. Demon Gaze 2 would be great as well, but that has the verboten "touching minigame" that gets you banned from almost everywhere now. Truly a gem.

They're mashing the panic button after their Gal Guardians project was relegated to indie shovelware territory. It's a shame because I liked Inti's recent projects.

Maybe not, Turret Girls sort of saved the ecchi industry by showing people that there's a blueprint of how it COULD be done

Playing these games again actually feels better now than ever. As if you really got a gem on your hands.

It's not any real work if they develop the game with it in mind. PC is massive and cutting it out is no longer feasible, it's why loads of Japanese developers are now dumping everything they can onto it and even some little super niche DLsite games are turning into million sellers on Steam.

Like what? I'm only aware of various h-games getting translated and put on Steam

What's the Fantasy GalGun like? I've only played the second one and found it very cute and wholesome.

It's cool to see something made by qureate has become big enough to sustain DLC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPB0mGEgktw

I'm still fucking seething about Steam banning LoveR. Fucking cucks.
>>
>>740224934
I don't have the link but the monochrome imouto game passed a million copies in january of last year or something. The dev was surprised and thanking everyone for selling a quarter million in a super short period of time and then it just kept selling.

Just get it on GOG, or god forbid DLsite. Keep shitting on payment processors and the US's intentionally vague as fuck obscenity laws, and the west in general being cucks about loli.
>>

Interesting that the two porn games that blew up are shota and loli incest games. Very strange. With the way people cry about them, you'd think there was little to no demand.
>>
>>740219025
i wish they actually finished them, instead of cutting out half of the game.

I just played Double Peace again after pirating and playing it once over a decade ago. Good game but unfortunately, gameplay-wise, you see everything the game has to offer in one playthrough which makes going for all the other content a slog. On my second and last run I went for the Godlike rank which was actually pretty fun but I feel like nothing else the game can offer will come close to that. Are the other games any better in this regard?
>>
>>740228159
Its just a decent railroad shooter with cute grills, what you see is what you get.
>>
>>740219921
>Why?
I just like the spin-off more. The first game is solid but the second game was slog for the first half before you get the sprinting ability.

That's only in Japan though, isn't it? Nintendo of Burgerstan is over here banning SFW Kanon CGs.
Most devs can't risk losing the global market so they develop for the gayest most censorious common denominator. I wish developers would be comfortable having regional versions again (original for Japan, censored cuck release for the west) but that's too much effort I guess.

I'll never understand what Steam's Review Team chooses to have a problem with.
>>
Will buy if:
PCVR version is available
It's moddable (e.g. no pantsu mod)
It's not less lewd than GalGun 2
