>playing GS lost Age >Having a great time>Reach pic related>PTSD kicks inNo, I can't do this, I remembered you can't fully complete it without frost but there are loads of stuff that need "reveal" before that, why designed this hellhole?Oh, and Golden Sun thread, I guess.
>>740229887All the internet says you are supposed to do this place before fighting the pirate asshole otherwise he is too "hard". BULLSHIT, I got the djinn at Milkasah and went to fight the guy and he was easy.
>>740229887>Reveal in GS1>Ivan's sister casually gives it to him.>Reveal in GS2>You have to clear an endgame like dungeon at 10% of the gameThis is outright sadism.
There is no need to 100% games.
>>740231229You need "reveal" to even finish the game.
>>740231229dis nigga thinks completing a game's story = 100%ing a game.
>>740229887I don't get the hate. I beat this shit when I was 12 like any other dungeon, wasn't till I went online that everybody was sperging about it
>>740231587Is a two hours dungeon when you are just at 10% of the game and it has something you can only get with Piers...who you are supposed to get after the finishing Air Rock.
>>740231724then finish it first and return with Piers while spamming Avoid, what's the problem
>>740231869>while spamming AvoidA psynergy you can only get by moving djinns around or equipping the pierrot card...for some reason i can't bring myself to change the characters intended classes, they must always have only djinns of their respective element.
>>740232112mono element classes are boring and weaker than mixed also>he doesn't play reloadedrestart the gamehttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1W9VJcbmV5l6wGSiDO4oM6IV566i7XvVFQs_5WT0ajN8/edit?gid=1049218258#gid=1049218258
>>740231724I mean you can get Piers before doing Air's Rock. I always do that on replays.
>>740232412I just can't anon, 20 years ago it feel wrong and today it still feels wrong.
These games are so fucking good, I remember getting hover and flying the ship around and being completely mind blown as a kid
>>740232559I just realized that Felix and Xenoblade N look similar...
>>740232734>These games are so fucking goodExcept Dark Dawn, you play as a fucking furry that dishonor his dad's love for tomboys.
>Ragnarok
>>740232893The summons were all kickass.
Kino................
this rock killed millions...
>Isaac's Sol Blade lets out a howl! Megiddo!!
>>7402330503d ruined everything, 2.5d was better and more unique.
>>740233523Dark Dawn took out the "let out a howl!" For some fucking reason.
>>740233190AHHHHHHHH!
>>740229887Air's Rock interior is "circuitous" but an actual singular main path. It's just too long for a 3-man team especially if you're only using Felix as the healer instead of slotting a Venus one on Sheba and turning off all of Felix's so you have 2 Cure healers.
>>740232112>for some reason i can't bring myself to change the characters intended classes, they must always have only djinns of their respective elementDon't do that. The class system exists for a reason and mono-elementals usually have boring kits other than Jenna.
>>740236232I can't anon, I just can't, for example I triggered over how LA gives your TWO water djinns long before you are able to recruit Piers.
So what do you guys think of Saturdos and Menardi? They wanted to save the world...but were complete assholes in their way to do it.
>>740237442They were retarded.Even Agatio and Karst were better because Agatio knew Alex was using him and didn't give a shit as long as the job was done and even outright stated it in the Champa scene, and Karst was more focused on revenge.
>>740237442Their only real sin is that they didn't stop to solve the locals' problems when they moved through an area, failing to ingratiate themselves to others and get their willing assistance and information. Anyone who thinks they could've convinced Isaac is retarded.
>>740238184>Their only real sin is that they didn't stop to solve the localsUh... kidnapping, attempted murder, more kidnapping (Sheba), actual murder (all those random tobi soldiers), more attempted murder.
>>740238367They also caused the landslide between Altin and Lama's Temple.
>>740238530I hate how this place (and the fucking ghost guy) never get elaborate.
>>740238530ALL I KNOW IS THAT TO MEYOU LOOK LIKE YOU'RE HAVING FUNOPEN UP YOUR LOVING ARMSWATCH OUT HERE I COME
>>740238569I think they somehow caused the plague at Mia's town too.
>>740238367>Attempting to murder the people trying to stop you from saving the worldNot a sin.>Kidnapping ShebaThey need a Jupiter Adept for Jupiter Lighthouse and they're extremely rare, they really didn't have much of a choice there.
>>740239063The main problem is that they never fucking explain themselves, they just violently do everything they need, for the rest of the people they look like dangerous criminals. That is why, even after learning the truth, Issac and co don't feel fucking sorry for them and 30 years later Vale only remembers them as random target practice dummies and give all their evil actions to Felix because "traitors are never forgiven".
>>740239407That's what I said here >>740238184 Their sin is rushing. They don't involve themselves with the locals or go out of their way to help anyone else, they just straightforwardly go and do what they have to do to get to and then solve the lighthouses. This pisses some people off because it's their territory or they have personal plans for the lighthouses (though some of these people would've been hostile anyway.)>That's why Isaac don't feel fucking sorryKinda hard to admit you tried to destroy the world for an evil rock.>Vale only remembers...You forgot that Vale is the place Saturos and Menardi DID try to negotiate with, and inform that the world was dying, and they still told them to fuck off and go die. Which is why the raid on Sol Sanctum happened in the first place. Vale's elders are the worst people, they weren't just callous like Saturos and Menardi, they outright knew the world was dying and they didn't care.
>>740239776>You forgot that Vale is the place Saturos and Menardi DID try to negotiate with, and inform that the world was dying, and they still told them to fuck off and go die.Actually they weren't, Prox first sent diplomatics and those were the ones told to GTFO, Prox then sent their stronger warriors out of desperation and then all them but Saturdos and Menardi got BTFO by the trap at the Sol Sanctum.
>>740240012I'm not gonna replay the start of the first game to find out if Saturos and Menardi were part of the negotiating team or not, but I will point out that it's beside the point here that the Vale Elders are absolutely not in any place to judge the Proxians.
>>740240169Ok, I just checked and I got that detail wrong, the assholes were indeed part of the team that explained the situation to vale elders so sorry about that. Still, they were assholes and they annoyed me to not end, I don't care if they wanted to save the world, their deaths were extremely cathartic.
>>740240585You have to remember anon, from their perspective, you're the slaves of some evil rock who are doggedly trying to stop them from saving the world and who desperately wants their entire village and everyone living there to fall off the edge of the world and die.
>>740240821I don't care, they never explained themselves and I only learned the truth from third parties after they are long dead so FUCK THEM. Also we can take Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising as a better example of this situation because he did EXPLAIN HIMSELF, his goal was noble but his methods were batshit insane so he had to be stopped and even so Raiden found himself agreeing with his goal and later he fucking quotes him, but Saturdos and Menardi? Assholes from start to finish, Kars and Agatio at least get some pity because you actually know all the context by then and Kars was specifically hunting you for revenge.
>>740241405I'm not going to contest that they were assholes (I did call them callous,) but I do want to reiterate that explaining themselves to the party wouldn't have solved anything. Isaac and Garret would never believe them over the Vale Elders and the Wise One, who were lying to them the entire time. The only person involved who might have defused the situation between the two is Felix, and his decision to stay silent out of shame and this leading to the unneeded conflict and the death of Saturos and Menardi is his own sin.>Agiato>SympathyThe Proxians tell you outright he was a power-hungry gloryhound and bully, which is why he wasn't sent with Saturos and Menardi in the first place. We can have all the sympathy in the world for Karst and how she became a villain because she was ruled by revenge, but Agiato is objectively considered a jackass independent of any opposition to Vale by his own people. If anything he's probably partially responsible for Karst ending up how she did.
>>740241736Ok, so in the end is fault of Felix. LMAO, no wonder he disappeared.
>saturdos and Mernadi apologists exists. The fuck?
>>740242972Yes anon, people who played both games exist.
I loved the rocks as a kid, except for the earth one, shit gimmick.Air's rock was absolute sadism and I wouldn't have it any other way.Water's rock is really cool. And fire's I have a soft spot for dungeons where the main entrance is locked and you basically need to almost clear it just to enter normally.Air's rock and jupiter's lighthouse were peak dungeons, holy shit I loved the floating synergy.
>>740235975There's a billion whirlwind puzzles in Air's Rock, so its easiest to do Wind Sheba, Water Jenna (via Fog + Sour) and Venus Felix.2x healers and less menuing.
If Wise One was truly evil, he could have easily killed Saturos + Menardi in Sol at the very beginning. He and the ancients most likely knew that the events of 1+2 were going to happen, so they just rigged the game so that it would be as hard as possible for randos to do it and accidentally fuck shit up worse.
>>740229887You can skip doing Air's Rock until after you get Piers at which point your level will be so high that you can use Avoid to skip 100% of the encounters in the entire dungeon. I'd highly suggest doing this on replays.Oh but if you play normally and do it before Piers the only thing you'll miss is one chest with an Elixir which is a garbage item anyway.
I just beat 1 and 2 with a friend last week. kinda basic, but solid little jrpgs for a handheld. the two game gimmick is kinda weird though, it's like one whole game, but it was split 33% and 66%. moving djinn around to change your class is a fun idea, but making those also be tied directly to your stats and spells means using summons and whatnot is risky and it felt safer to generally just hit things to death. I still liked them overall though, and it's very funny that the fucking title doesn't get mentioned until the last 10 minutes of the second game
>>740245757He's not allowed to kill people directly, it's one of his restrictions as a construct.
>>740246621also as a bump, from the way people talked about him, I expected dullahan to be a lot harder. people were also acting like he specifically punished summon spam, but I summon spammed him to death in just a few turns
>>740247981summon, stun, summon again and he dies Dullahan is better in Dark Dawn dessu. He has a cool shield now.
>>740248107I went the cheese route and uh, unequipped every djinn. I had the first team be my backup team that isn't equipped as well so they were just a meat shield to dump as much damage as possible before dying, and then the second, proper team ALSO had all their djinn unequipped, so I just slammed him with multiple charons and catastrophes and whatnot until he exploded
>>740238974No, the plague just popped up recently and got worse because the water at the fountain in front of Mercury Lighthouse wasn't flowing for a long time. The people probably got too complacent with the supplies or that illness not being as severe as they remember.
>>740249283How issac would react to the fact that his son is a furry?
>>740247981What is your level?
>>740249721He's too busy getting fucked by Garet to care.
>>740249796well my save shortly before the final boss is 48, so probably a few levels below that
>>740249721Does Sveta in her normal form even counts as a furry? Her face is not animal enough.
>>740250115Animal nose = furry
>>740247981>people were also acting like he specifically punished summon spamYou heard wrong. Summon spam is THE way to beat him. I actually think Camelot intentionally designed him to be so frustrating to beat normally that you give up and just summon spam him, as some kind of sick joke.
>>740250146Good point
>>740250228Speaking of jokes, I thin black beard in GS is the actual joke as the Jupiter Djinn that locks psynergy for 2 turns effectively makes him a joke.
>>740250115>>740250146And has a protruding snout. Her portrait and official art don't really show that from the angle, but you can see from the model. Also has claws and paw pads.
>>740250115Dude
>>740250648So Matthew is truly a dirty furry.
>>740247981Fun fact, Dullahan has a fixed attack pattern that jumps to a random point in the sequence when the fight starts, which means he always uses Djinn Storm on a regular routine that isn't affected by whether or not you're preparing summons.I beat him the "normal way" by attacking with Megiddo and Vengeance (every party member had Tisiphone Edges) and defending with the Djinn that reduce damage like Flash.
>>740252087ah, I had heard he had a fixed pattern, but it seemed different the handful of tries we made before the summon dump run, so I figured there was slightly more to it. randomly picking a place to start within that pattern makes sense though
>>740250228>>740247981Dullahan's difficulty is based on how strong your team is and where his AI script starts. The low effort way is 4x Daedalus + whatever the fuck from Team B since HP% damage is broken and that's why Reloaded double nerfed summons.
>>740252716>ReloadedThis thread just taught me that people are making Golden Sun romhacks. Is it good?
>>740252960There's multiple but Reloaded is the only one worth talking about and its solid. I actually dabbled in making my own but the patch that I was messing around with was janky and Reloaded was good enough on its own merits.
>>740253580Reloaded...that name doesn't fit GS.
>>740229887As soon as you realize that every floor is numbered, it gets significantly easier to navigate it. For example, this is the 3rd floor, and the stairwell doors will all be labeled 3rd floor.
>>740254952Okay and?
so now that I've finished 1 and 2, I can definitely see why people were clamoring for a third all those years, since it does kinda end with a lot still unfinished. But all I've heard is people saying the third one is kinda disappointing, so what's the problem? does it not resolve everything and leave itself open for yet another game that's never gonna come?
one of my fucking favorite rpgs of all time and they just sit on it.shit would clear the dogshit that's out right now.
>>740255467YepAlso there are multiple points of no return which rubbed people the wrong way
>>740229887Did you dumbasses really not know what sacred feathers were for?
>>740255467>so what's the problem? does it not resolve everything and leave itself open for yet another game that's never gonna come? No, not at all.The game takes place 30 years later, but in that time the world has completely changed due to the Golden Sun and there are very few "old places" from the original two games. Entire civilizations have risen up in the place of the old ones. The prologue teases an existential problem, but then the entire game is a sidequest to repair a kite. I am not kidding. Then at the end of the game, it reintroduces Alex and reminds you of the existential problem that was brought up in the prologue. Along that are gameplay problems- it's significantly easier than 1 and 2. The game has (unwarned) points of no return where you can hard lock your save out of collecting all items/djinn. The cast is too big for a sequel, having 8 party members, but none of them really get fleshed out and they all just exist to pad the cutscenes because someone will say one line then you have to hear ALL EIGHT CHARACTERS (and sometimes Kraden or whatever npc is following you around) react to what was stated. The djinn art, classes, and summons are all top notch for DS hardware. I actually love that they made every djinni look unique.
>>740255808>The game takes place 30 years later, but in that time the world has completely changed due to the Golden Sun and there are very few "old places" from the original two games. Entire civilizations have risen up in the place of the old onesI don't think I did it justice in my first post. What I meant to say is that the world feels like it's changed too much and feels like a completely new setting rather than a world undergoing radical change. All of the older characters feels too entrenched into the changes rather than having a feeling or mindset of "this isn't the world I was born into." So it doesn't feel like a true return to the world of Weyard.
I honestly love golden sun but it is super overrated, the combat is not very interesting, puzzles are either hilariously easy or ridiculously arcane, there are numerous soft lock states, and worst of all there is only one fuckable girl in the entire seriesI replay the series every few years since they are also pretty short and every time I'm disappointed by how hard my nostalgia glazes these games
>>740256421>worst of all there is only one fuckable girl in the entire seriesJenna or Mia hater? The purple-haired, non-playable Jupiter women are my favorite
>>740256421>there are numerous soft lock statesI'm curious, what soft locks did you run into? It's never happened to me so I am uninformed. Are you talking about getting locked into the fight with Satauros at the top of the lighthouse with no more opportunities to grind?
>tfw only had the lost ageI should play the whole thing some day
>>740256631You can just lose to Saturos and then the game will gladly send you back to the nearest sanctum. You'd have to actively create a softlock scenario in GS if one even exists.
>>740256631>>740257063the only one I know is you can get softlocked if you gave piers the lash psynergy when you go to lemuria, and you can get stuck because he leaves the party to go to the graveyard and you need lash to go into lunpa's house
>>740257121If you dont have Lash, Lunpa will throw the rope for you.
>>740256976You should, and use a gold password (or borrow one from the internet) so you can enter TLA with the full djinn list and the Gaia Blade.
>>740257257oh really, that's kinda funny actually
>>740229887I remember Air's Rock being exhausting by the end on my first playthrough, but it isn't like it's a bad dungeon or anything, it's just a really long series of puzzles. The random enemies aren't a threat, and there's no boss, so just chill and work your brain with some Zelda puzzles for a couple of hours at max. At least you can save anywhere so you can take breaks.(Kinda wish there were a boss though to add some excitement waiting at the end)
>>740257121Lunpa throws the rope down to you if you do that, they deliberately did an anti-softlock thing there.I think the only real softlock is warping back to the sanctum in Alhafra after fixing the boat but before Briggs steals it
>>740255261Just saying.
I fucking love the mistranscribed attacksEnemies using water blessing or fire blessing (supposed to be water breath of fire breath), and of course Dullahan's FORMINA SAGE (supposed to be fulminous edge).Honestly Formina Sage legitimately sounded like an epic move to me as a kid and it still does.
>>740258068Those were mistranslations? So the iconic "let out a howl!" Was also a mistranslation and that is why is missing from DD?
>>740229887If you ask me how to navigate Air's Rock I wouldn't be able to tell you how, but if I start playing the game I can easily tell the path as if by muscle memory. Also, the music lives rent free in my head, specially that part around 1:00.
>>740258068Sad thing is, if they do a remake, the modern translators will probably use "correct" translations without understanding that people found the original versions cooler.I miss when translations cared more about making things sound cool instead of translating literally. Case in point, Paper Mario TTYD with the Shadow Sirens (original) vs "Three Shadows" (remake).
>>740258354More like they weren't weeb enough to properly read the japanese katakana, rather than being full 'mistranslations'. I'm not sure what the original japanese says when a weapon special activates, but it wouldn't surprise me if the 'howl' was another instance of misreading
>>740258354The only other mistranslation I'm aware of is Death Size for Death Scyhe
>>740259051it says うなりを上げた, howl is juts fine
>>740255808Damn you, you made me remember that all DD was basically a fucking sidequest and now I am mad.
>>740259397Then what the fuck happened in DD?
>>740233543I have a lot of issues with Dark Dawn, but the 3D was not one of them.I still love that DS era of handheld 3D.Also it kicked ass that they brought in the chandelier dragon from that one commercial as a summon.
>>740259316fear puppet turned into fire puppet somehow
>>740259504I think it's related to "regular" weapons getting unleashed so it wouldn't make sense for like an iron broadsword to start yodeling
>>740259773Oh..that retarded "every weapon has an unleashed, several level of them too" thing...I had forgotten it.
>>740259862Nah, that was cool.
>>740260089It made "artifact" weapons feel less special.
>>740259316Was Aqua Sock also a mistranslation instead of Aqua Shock or did they mean that?
>>740260293It was Aqua Strike in JP
>>740260293>Aqua sock Kek.
>>740260293Sock is a synonym for striking something, it's a valid usage. When I played Earthbound in a ROM set at 10 I didn't take the naming screen seriously and said my favorite thing was "sock", but that turned Ness' signature PK move to "PSI Sock" and that actually works as an attack name.
>>740261367That's neat and remind same another case of "odd word but it actually fits the context" in GS: Item. Los Age extremely infamous scene where Sheba says Jenna and Isaac are a "item" and Jenna going full tsundere was the first time I ever saw that word used for "couple" instead of for "object", it was fucking weird.
>>740261553while I don't think the kids these days use it that much, I'd still consider item used in that regard to be fairly common. not asking this in a mean way, but are you ESL?
>>740261367I'm familiar with the term but had my doubts since I always relate it to something like a blunt hit.>>740261553I also remember being confused over the word item as couple but it was not in GS, though I can't remember where I first read it.Honestly, I think english became more standardized or easier to read. There were more words to remember back in the day, made learning english fun.
>>740261661Not the one who you replied to, but most of us here are ESL or used to be. Don't know who populates 4chan the most these days.
>>740262154the concept of no longer being esl is very funny to me. can't believe I'm the last remaining american on /v/...
>>740262286Allow me to introduce myself then my fellow American. I'm shitposting while working from home right now.
>>740262359I'm technically in an office right now, but I'm the only person who is ever here, so I just installed parsec on the computer and remote into my pc at home to play limbus and shitpost on the clock. truly, the american dream
>>740262154>but most of us here are ESL or used to belollmaoYou will never be white
I find funny how DD eventually becomes Sveta's story (and also the most broken party member). Getting the feather is basically a footnote (and not really address how the birb is basically a mech on the inside with the equivalent of a nuke).
>>740262843Sounds like Xenoblade 1 if Melia stole all the plot from where she appears to the end...she did end up getting an actual full game for herself with the epilogue in the remake, though.
>>740262843Dark Dawn's story has serious problems.Too much of the game is spent glory-wanking the exploits of Lost Age, and the whole game is you getting side-tracked by the villains whose motives we never really learn, and succeed in getting YOU to fuck up and having to undo your own cataclysmic mistake. The game struggles to justify having a party of 8 members (because Lost Age did), and introduces a basically mute non-character who has a unique psynergy to progress the story, and has no real affinity for the party.Your 4th and 5th party members are both water adepts, and the second guy arguably totally obsoletes the first guy in terms of battle prowess and utility.
>>740263674>Amiti makes Mia's nerd son obsolete.I can see Alex smirking to himself over that.
>>740229887But it comes with a free Sol Blade
>>740264060What? Anon, the sol blade is in the mars lighthouse, at the game very end.
Still disappointed we never got to fight Alex.
>>740264136Retreat from this thread.
>>740263674>>740263972The main party in DD should've been Matthew, Tyrell, Nowell, and Sveta. They'd all get more attention and focus (except Sveta who already has enough.) Amiti, Karis, Eoleo, and Himi would be saved for a sequel where they can be given appropriate focus as characters. Rief would be cut, there's no point in him existing.
We will never see Alex finally going full Kefka and kicking his ass in the most cathartic final battle in JRPG ever.
>>740264195Don't worry, you'll get to in the sequel
>>740264305Camelot are stuck in Mario Sports purgatory, Golden Sun 4 would be a fucking miracle.
>>740264265>NowelWhat? Anon she fucks off to try to fuck Piers as soon the game starts, does she even has a portrait?
>>740264514She has a portrait and if I'm suggesting half the party be cut for a sequel and Rief stops existing I'm very clearly suggesting rewrites, anon. Rief sucks and has no character and we need a cute Mercury girl, simple as.
>>740264305There is no feasible way to bring back Golden Sun now. Unless a new entry was basically Fire Emblem Mystery of the Emblem and retold Dark Dawn then continued into the rest of the story new players (and probably a lot of returners) would just be lost. It's been almost 20 years since Dark Dawn. Plus that doesn't even touch on the fact Camelot has been gutted, nor the fact JRPGs are expensive and slow to make compared to Mario sports games.
>>740264305Y-yeah... can't wait!
>>740264606I have an idea, but you won't like it: let MS take over and make so that the GS world was destroyed by those fucking psynergy vortexes, only Matthew, Sveta...and Alex survived and they ended up in the Xenoblade world after 3, the furryfag and the furry get help from the Xenoblade characters to finally kick Alex's ass and at the end they obtain power from the zohar to rebuild their world so they depart ti fix it. Yeah, I am suggesting to turn Matthew and Sveta into gods.
>>740263674Even when young I basically replced Rief with Amiti on sight and never used the former.
>>740264881Oh and you only get Sveta, remember how at the end of DD Matthew somehow "fuses" his psynergy with Sveta and she walks around with a Mathew aura around her body (plus if she dies while in state, he dies)? Well, turns Matthew lost his body and now lives in Sveta's body as a sentient "psynergy ghost".
>>740264271>Alex obtains the full power of the Golden Sun>"Excellent. My plan has succeeded in every way imaginable. Now this world will be changed forever...">Alex uses his endless power to give fresh clean water to every town in the world>"Wow, Alex is actually a pretty cool guy!">Everyone and Alex laughs together>THE END
What exactly did Alex do that made people want to kill him? He spent both games helping the good guys (Felix)
>>740264136Infinite free Sol Blades actually but you only need 2 since only Felix and Isaac can equip them. Then you get early Isaac in Gabomba which has wild effects>>740264228Not enough PP...
>>740264881I've thought a prequel would work better. Tell the story of the original group of heroes that went around and sealed psynergy. All the ancient events that were referenced could come up (the race, anemos, lemuria, etc.). They'd be nice easter eggs but wouldn't be mandatory for understanding the story. You also introduce psynergy vortexes there to basically trial balloon, "is there even an audience for a golden sun game?" If there is, then you find some way to make a sequel to DD.
>>740266098Anon, the very first thing Alex tried to do when he thought he had obtained ultimate power was trying to cast a massive thunderstorm over Vale for no reason. It's obvious Alex is unhinged, the only thing keeping him on check is the fact he hasn't obtained the Golden Sun yet, if he obtains it he is gonna go all kefka on the World.
>>740266316>Heroes*Misguided idiots
>>740250648Pics of the model? Not disagreeing because anime art sometimes doesn’t draw noses but I want to see if her model differs from the human ones
>>740266098Anon, to obtain the golden sun is clear obvious he needs to KILL Isaac, not one is gonna "laugh with him" after that.
>>740266479
every dungeon in this game is easy because your PP generates when you walk. so you basically have infinite healing
>>740266329Oh. I haven't played it in a few years and thought the game just ended with him getting part of the Golden Sun and immediately getting paralyzed by Wise One before he even decided what he was going to do with it.
>>740243027>erm they may have kept 3-6 hostages, kidnapped someone, and murdered a few people but thwy were trying to save the world1!!1!They're still evil, dumbass
>>740267425What is your recommendation for satisfying the requirement for Venus and Jupiter Adepts when the primary known Venus civilization (Vale) is hostile to the very idea of saving the world, and the last known Jupiter civilization (Anemos) hasn't been heard of since the fall of Alchemy?
>>740267540Anemoi elbowdrop the Wise One from the stratosphere
>>740266570I had forgotten how cubical DD models were.
>>740250146No, animal nose by itself isn’t furry. It’s only furry if there’s a snout or fur with it.
>>740268575No, animal nose is furry and always has been. You only want to argue because you're attracted to cats.
>>740268575>>740268639All this discussion is pointless when Sveta can will herself into a full furry form which is a wolf, not a cat, by the way.
>>74026883499% of the nose defense is from catfuckers, though.
>>740268834suddenly interested in playing Dark Dawn
>>740267540Just talk to them?Saturos/Menardi never spoke with anyone, they repeatedly chose violence first, and the people of Vale were never against Alchemy, that was only after the (((Wise one))) told them to stop Saturos and Menardi without explaining anything elseIvan also was a Jupiter adept and had the shaman's rod they needed to actually get what was needed to get into the Jupiter lighthouse and he wasn't as important a person as Sheba was to the cities that knew of her
>>740267540>>740267593>just remembered we never went to AnemosI'm upset. Lemuria was the most satisfying disappointment of my life. Literally. We arrived 50 years too late.
>>740269228>Just talk to them? They did just talk to the elders of Vale and were refused. That's what precipitatd everything. So no, you're wrong, the people of Vale are being intentionally hostile. Your issue is that you think Isaac will believe Saturos and Menardi over everyone in Vale and especially the Wise One, the closest thing he has to a god. Would you believe some random heretics coming to tell you to defy god after he gave you a holy mission to stop them?>IvanIvan is a random dude in a random village, they simply didn't have the luck to run into him and know he was a Jupiter adept until he had joined Isaac.
>>740229887Air's Rock is pretty linear, it's just long as shit, Aqua Rock and Magma Rock are far more obtuse to navigate, which really wouldn't be as much of an issue if random encounters weren't so constant.
>>740269383>hey can we have access to the most sacred place in your village?>no we won't tell you why we want to get in there>...>right, they said no, time to murder some children
>>740269472They did tell them, they confronted Vale with the fact that the world was dying without Alchemy and that Prox was on the imminent edge of falling into the abyss. They did not care. Like I said, you're incorrect, and you've forgotten everything the game tells you about Prox's attempt at diplomacy.
>>740231724The first half of the game is surprisingly non-linear and there's a lot of stuff that can be done in different orders, you can go to Kibombo and get Piers or visit Garoh before doing Air's Rock, you can complete the Briggs/trident sidequest and complete.Aqua Rock in any order once you have the ship, the game doesn't really enforce strict linearity until you go to the Jupiter Lighthouse, and even then there's some optional stuff like some towns in the coast of Angara.
>>740267540Why weren't there any Vebus adepts around the Vebus Lighthouse? All other lighthouses cause people to randomly birth adepts around them, but nothing for Venus.
>>740269742broke: it's a plot holewoke: Babi Lighthouse as an atheistic declaration of war on alchemy in such proximity to Venus Lighthouse has sapped all the psynergy out of the leylines around Venus Lighthouse, preventing the birth of Venus adepts in the area.Keep in mind Anemos did something to siphon all Jupiter adepts to the moon, leaving Contigo filled with inepts.
>spent days dying to Doom Dragon because I just spammed djinn special attacks>realized that using the djinns kept weakening my characters>stop using summons for the fight>beat him first try
>>740269742No idea, it's possible it does happen but it's just become extremely rare as the world continues to dry up and die. So there just didn't happen to be one alive and grown at the time. Recall that Contigo (near Jupiter Lighthouse) only had one living Jupiter Adept in it who was a baby at the time you get there. It's also possible they exist but have it at a sub-usable level, like how in Garoh only the grandpa and a baby had usable levels of psynergy and the old man still needed an item to do much relevant. The only places cranking out significant numbers of competent, battle-capable Adepts are Vale, ironically enough to how pacifist and backwater it is Imil, and Prox.>>740270139There is a living Jupiter Adept in Contigo, a baby.
Retcon DD. Have the new game take place thirty years later but have the world be realistically altered instead of "the setting is reset because of the McGuffin you set off". Political and military intrigue reign as alchemy has resulted in new landmasses being discovered - and the ability to use Psynergy has become more widespread. You begin the game as a 25 year old in a relative backwater with an unusual aptitude for Mars Psynergy, who gets scouted by a military prodigy with sights set on uniting the various factions duking it out to establish the ruling power on the new continent.Tl:dr The protagonist is unaware that he's Isaac's son being manipulated by Alex's schemes into freeing him (he's trapped under Mt Aleph projecting himself into people's dreams)
>>740270284You're supposed to use summons though, just not when Granite, Flash, or Shade are on standby.
>>740270307>There is a living Jupiter Adept in Contigo, a baby.I forgot about that. Also Ivan and Hama are from Contigo
I vaguely remember bits of the fist and second game but I’ve never played to third. Is there a point?
>>740270410All I know is that I kept using the summons at the wrong time, and every party wipe was because I didn't expect him to use Cruel Ruin.
>>740268639Cats have snouts. I’m talking about something closer to FFXI Mithra or the Na’vi from avatar. A mostly human nose but the bottom is black.
>>740270532>Is there a point? You REALLY want more Golden Sun after the duology and don't mind eating literal dog food as long as it's laced with enough memberberries.
>>740270606I’ll pass then lol. Is the plot with lemuria ever resolved? I remember that guy ended up dying?
>>740270658>Is the plot with lemuria ever resolved? The majority of the game is just a sidequest with no plot, as explained by >>740255808
>>740269742The Rocks cause it too, though seemingly at a lesser level. Garoh from Air's, Izumo from Gaia, Magma Rock is probably responsible for adepts in Kibombo like Akafubu, and Apojii Islands probably has a Mercury Adept from Aqua occasionally though you don't see one during the game.
>>740270575Cruel Ruin is a dick. The first time I fought him, I was alternating Flash and Granite constantly because I thought I was doing a super-epic invincible cheese strat. Then I got to the last phase and he immediately removed all my Djinn and nearly one-shotted my party with Cruel Ruin on the same turn. Then I learned the point of switching party members midbattle.
>>740270449They also at least seem to recall psynergy is a thing since they're all aware of your ship's wings.
>>740232412>reloadedCool. Is it as hard as hard JRPGs? I only got like half way through way back then so I've been meaning to play it.>no JP patchOh...>but there's an ITALIAN patchFucking mario niggers
>>740270604If Mithra are considered to have cat noses and not smudges on their nose, they're furries, you are attracted to a cat's nose furfag.
>>740270852Honestly if you have prior experience with Golden Sun it doesn't make it much harder, it just requires you to do more than alpha strike bosses with summons to clear the game. The super bosses hit like a truck though.
SWEATYMIATITSCASTINGPLYONMYDICK
You have to wonder if the land on the Pangaea-continent that became Hesperia was like, completely deserted during the ancient era. Out of all the continents and even islands it's the only one with jack and shit for ancient ruins on it.
Just how fucked up is the golden sun world? Besides being literally flat turns out all the land is actually FLOATING in the water as the massive tsunami at the beginning of LA made three continents crash into each other and a NPC points out this shouldn't be fucking possible unless the land is floating.
>>740270852I would compare Reloaded's difficulty to say, Etrian Odyssey 4. Not REALLY difficult if you have a brain, but you have to use those defensive psynergy you ignored as a kid like Resist or else certain attacks will rape you.
I miss it so much. the class changing. the animations. the summons.fuuuuck.4 niggas in a row (4 niggas in the back) done right.
>>740271431Well the world is flat.
>>740271431Life is alright, everyone is just kind of isolated because they're just now figuring out how to make proper sailboats to replace all the missing adepts and their magic ships.
>>740271702Funny how that happens and immediately the Adepts are back and with them it won't be long until magic ships are a thing again.
>>740271431I always saw that tsunami as an intentional move from Poseidon to push the continents back into their proper shape, since with Indra wedged where it is, the main continents take the vague shape of a crescent again just like in the ancient past.
>>740229887OP here, I just activated the tornado heads inside the air rock, do I still have a long way ahead?
>>740271538AND eroding. Don't forge the eroding part. It is VERY important that you understand that the world in Golden Sun is both FLAT and ERODING.
>>740272093if the world is flat and the edges are continually shrinking, then it's technically a good idea to push all the continents together towards the center because people will die slower
>>740229887I played this game once as a kid literally 20 years ago and I remember hating this. You unlocked a core memory. Thanks I hate it
Amazing how for a dead franchise Golden Sun can still have successful threads occasionally.I really do feel bad for you.
>>740275167We just need one golden sun fan to make it big like tobyfox and get a remake made like Live A Live. It'll be great.
I love GS1 but GS2 really exasperates the problems by not necessarily being bad but just being bloated to hell and never doing anything new or interesting enough to justify it.
>>740273570You are actually almost done with the dungeon. You can do it!!
>>740277319GS2 is way better than 1.
>>740263674>>740263972>the second guy totally eclipses the firstThis is what happens you play based on vibes.Rief is a carbon copy of Mia while Rief is an inferior Piers who lost access to longswords. Amiti is literally worse at the one thing that Mercury adepts are good for in DD which is spam the final cold snap spell during the midgame before Sveta joins for real because he has worse PP and an inferior base class which is relevant because someone has to suck up the excess water djinn and it sure as hell isnt going to be Matthew or Tyrell.
>>740277654>Rief is a carbon copy of MiaOnly a dorky loser boy.
>>740229887OP again, I just reveal...but i didn't get Flora, I gonna still be here for a while.
>>740277702Both of DD's water adepts suck as characters and in terms of gameplay, the best team is Matthew, Tyrell, Eoleo/Himi and the main writer's furry waifu.
>>740277706I DID IT! I AM FREE! FUCK YOU AIR ROCK!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOKupb31YxAWhy is Jupiter Lighthouse pure audio kino?
>>740278648>https://youtu.be/uh1svF7sR68For me it's Saturos' theme.
>>740278082I just when to Garoh and I have to ask, if there werefurries were already part of Golden Sun...why DD ignored them and made actual furries?
>>740278829Nobody knows, pretty much everyone's reaction to the Beastmen at first was to think that Alchemy coming back turned a lot more people into Werewolves and Garoh became militant, but them being on Angara made no sense. Then the reveal that nah people just turned into furries but they're not related to Garoh at all was a headscratcher.
>>740278952>people just turned into furriesWait, I thought Sveta race just "manifested back into existence" after the revival of alchemy.
>>740250115Her face is covered in fur. It's not quite obvious because it's flesh colored fur, but it is nonetheless fur
dont worry guys im making a sequel just to finally beat alex. it will use different names, but the setting and story will be recognizable enough
>>740279052Nope, people and animals all across the continent just got zapped into furries.
You probably could've even justified it as one of the monster races around the world map you fight as enemies getting more intelligent really. But nah something completely new instead.
>>740279119Prove it
How DD would have gone better? Hard mode: besides removing the points 9f no return.
why there are no 1&2 hd pixel remaster or whatever octopath traveler style is on the switch2? these would sell like pancakes. nintendo even could have achieved the number they wanted to de-throne ps2 instead of having to sell it to indians now.
>>740281597I don't know. I think the reasons given for the game being bad ITT are silly. The first two games didn't have particularly compelling plots or characters. The interesting aspect of Golden Sun was always the locales and the puzzles, and I think DD did well enough when it came to those
>>740281597I'd remove the entire psynergy vortex shit since we never got a sequel and it's only relevant in the beginning and very end of the game. The bad guys have machines that make them but it's never brought up again. Also agree with what that other anon said about removing Rief and having Nowell join instead.
Dark Dawn will always be trash to me for not 100% confirming Felix X Sheba alone
>>740282243>Replace Rief with NowellThey're both nothing characters and before you mention the Piers thing, that only happened because she wasnt there. There's so many actually useful changes you could make for DD.
>>740277409>directionless meandering halfway through story>western continents and seas largely empty >music during saving is broken (worked fine in first game)>tilesets in some caves cause door tile to hang over character sprite. (Never happened in the first game).>forged items are a lottery, requiring wasting time save-scumming, instead of just selecting and paying different prices.GS2 introduced a lot of cool new things, but it was also terribly lopsided. In contrast GS1 was short, but a tight package. Only compliant for the first game is trapping the characters in Lalivero at the end, and not getting to explore the ship. (The ending trigger should've been a pop-up option when you hit "a" on the steering wheel).
>>740283650>Exploring and enjoying the world bad, actuallyNah. Anyway the rest of this is so petty I have to assume it's autism.
>>740281597Swap out steel for Sap. Only getting him in the prologue was sad.
Nobody is gonna mention the cringe introduction of muh light and dark psynergy which reads like a gradeschooler's imagination tacked onto the great magic lore that was already there? The thematic clash of suddenly muh edgy shadow creatures always struck me as the worst thing, pulled me out of my immersion worse than any of the bad charactersNeed more cute mercury girls though...
>>740284159The weird thing is that there's no proof Dark Psynergy is even a thing, out of the three who are supposedly using it, two just use gadgets/items in their fights and one is a super souped up fusion furry who does have some moves that seem to use darkness but who the fuck knows. Meanwhile Light Psynergy objectively is a real thing you don't get to use but random furries get granted for some reason.
>*Dies in your path*What do?
>>740232112Way to gimp your characters, a lot of the best abilities are multi element.
>>740285667Reset so he doesn't fall behind in levels and piss me off
Were DD's models the inevitable evolution of the GBA's pseudo-3D look, or could they have done it differently?
>>740287879should have had more emphasis on the face
>>740287879I assume Nintendo mandated everyone should move to 3D for the DS up since the uggo 3D was on every 3rd party game.
>>740284159It just kinda fades into the background compared to the bigger issues. Sure it was cringe, but by the time you hear about it you've already seen how many new civilizations pop up? Five?DD feels like the devs either threw random bullshit at the wall, or they retrofitted an unrelated game into being a GS sequel.
>>740233050OkGuess im playing dark dawn then
Is Sakuraba still making videogame music? I know he worked on the first Dark Souls but I'd like to hear more of his prog rock and odd time signatures. Probably my favorite track of his is from GS1https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBHanxWrMSM
>>740285667>>740286895Characters in the middle take more damage. Also, dont leave him in the bad base class.
>>740293108He's one of the main composers for Tales (and his stuff went downhill after Symphonia/Abyss). If want to hear one of his more recent OSTs, you can check Tales of Arise. But don't because that game is shit.
I like when translators toss in random pop culture references like this. It's cute
>>740293393He still had some good ones after Symphonia/Abyss. Its just that its pretty obvious that Tales OSTs became too rote and he used Star Ocean and Souls to flex.
It's a 30 year-old game made for children. Get over it.Dead franchise btw.
