I recently played Zero Parades and I liked it, so now I was eyeing this game, since I've read it's also inspired by DEHow is it?

Better than Zero Parades in some ways, worse than Zero Parades in others.My main problem with it is that the artstyle and part of the writing is so fucking tumblr it hurts. It really does accurately capture modern D&D, for better and for worse.Speaking of, when making your character, you should pay very close attention to the stats, because their description is very accurate. By which I mean: The game is basically testing you right at the start. If you want to play as a non-faggot, you cannot focus on charisma or wisdom. I went with strength and intelligence and was very satisfied with my character.
You have to be a d&d nerd to really get Esoteric Ebb. The best parts are the deconstructions of d&d tropes like alignment, spell level and deities.
Can we make this a thread for all Disco-likes? I'm still beaming over how fucking good Zero Parades turned out to be. I feel like the writing quality doesn't quite stack up to all the ideas it has, a lot of the things it wants to do are really cool but the actual prose and character interactions are a bit weak. I appreciate that it lets you stack con and turn your character into a complete freak of nature who is constantly disturbing people by how unkillable he is. I always enjoy doing that and not many rpgs let you lean into it. Overall I would give it a solid 8/10. Thanks for reading.

>>740235442I would say it's better than Disco, but Disco was a thoroughly original project while Ebb hamstrings itself by following a tried formula at times when it can afford to deviate from it. Either way, I liked it more than Disco. Haven't played Zero Parades.
