Just killed the orc shaman but I feel like i still mostly use my spells to heal. Charm can be pretty decent, and the telekinesis turns anything into a cannon. Still great gameplay. Shits all over games like skyrim.

It's a cool tech demo showing how in-depth mechanics and physics source engine can haveKinda like medieval Half-Life 2, overaching direction is on-rails, but how you tackle each situation is entirely up to you.Never got around to finish it, it just wasn't my jam. Same happened with E.Y.E, both of these games on paper are incredible and have more depth than other games in their genres, but there's just something inexplicable in both that makes me stop halfway through.

In dark messiah the gameplay just clicks and you're kicking and slamming your way all the way to the end of a fairly straight forward story. E.Y.E. is rough at first and you either read a guide to figure out how to play or you lucked out and guessed correctly before you start rolling through the enemies.
You should kick enemies as often as possible.If you see something and think "if I kick someone into this will they die?" then you should immediately do it. It's hilarious

I played it on release, and I've liked it since then, but I think this meme status it has among zoomers as having amazing combat is totally undeserved. The physics are fun, kicking people and throwing crates at them is fun, but the combat itself is meh. Useless "light attacks" that shouldn't even be in the game, pretty standard four-directional attack scheme, retarded unremarkable combat AI; it's really nothing special. (Even though it's third-person, so not exactly comparable, Severance: Blade of Darkness still has the best combat in any action adventure fantasy game to this day).To me the real appeal of this game is that it gives you that medieval fantasy adventure feeling. Jumping and climbing around, swinging from rope arrows, etc. That part where you climb the spider pit is one of the greatest moments in the game to me. It's also surprisingly immersive. One of the few games at the time where you could see your body when you looked down. It had that little section where you could forge a sword as well, just things like that. To me that's what made the game stand out.
