I just fucking remembered I read a novel version of the first AssCreed like a decade ago, my dad bought it to me because he saw I had the game on ps3 (I never even finished the game, I'm not the biggest AssCreed fan, but I did read the book and it was comfy)

Does anyone else have some weird stories about merch, secondary or tertiary material, etc etc related to vidya?

don't have any but here's a bump for you, brother

I've read the Assassin's Creed Unity novel. I remember thinking the romance angle was kinda like SAO, somehow, and overall liked it but I don't value it too much.
I do have pretty much every piece of ancillary Crysis media, including Legion, Escalation, and the tie-in comic and obscure German novelisation (picrel) for the first game.
I think that's about all I have. Only other thing I can think of is Three by Jay Posey, which read a lot like a vidya book, no doubt because the guy worked on a Ghost Recon game, but I can't remember if I have any others than that on account of being away from home at the moment.

>dad bought novel about thing because he saw son has game about thing
What a weird story.

Did your dad just die or something?

I remember reading the Deus Ex tie-in novel before playing Mankind Divided and it was pretty kino. Brought in a bunch of characters from the original game that weren't in the prequels too. Halo Fall of Reach is debatably better written and more interesting than the games.

I remember 'a thing' about the first book specifically because the devs were threatened by the actual assassins and they were told to pipe down

Don't think the group anticipated the series going into retardo territory and becoming a caricature of itself

I remember reading the Novels of Assassin's Creed and trying to line-up the way I killed the targets with the way the Novel did it (failing half the time).

It's weird that not only the novel existed, but that my dad found it at a random ass library he was browsing for his own things

I have a bunch of vidya tie-in novels
>Mass Effect
>Hitman
>Elder Scrolls
>Brute Force (no fucking clue why this of all games got a prequel novel)
>Resistance
>Uncharted
>Gears of War
>Splinter Cell
>Dead Space
>Deus Ex
>BioShock
The first two Splinter Cell books are kino (don't read anything after that; they're by a different author using the same pen name and they're garbage)
What's interesting about the Hitman books is that the events of the WoA trilogy introduce a plot hole that would seem to make the first book non-canon, but IO Interactive released a 6-issue comic which specifically calls out and fixes that plot hole, which I thought was pretty cool of them to do just to maintain the canonicity of a book hardly anyone read

Yeah that's crazy, what are the odds of finding a book at a library?
>>
>>740256546
Tbf have you been to a bookstore lately? No books except instruction manuals for being a witch and tarot cards
>>
>>740257298
Bookstores aren't the same thing as libraries, zoomzoom.

Yeah I know that's why I used the word bookstore and not library
