It's a really well made, and enjoyable game that uses the books as inspiration for Bond's origin story. They said they wanted to make you feel like you were playing a good Bond movie, and they achieved it. Too bad Amazon and MGM completely own the rights now, so we won't get a good sequel.

My only nitpicks is the outrageous handholding during some sections and the fact they didn't make it toggleable and give more HUD options in general. I can understand them putting in features like that for the casual audience a franchise like this attracts, but holy shit, just give us toggles. It's such an easy fix. The AI should also have been less blind and deaf at higher difficulty levels. The mini sandboxes broken up by set piece moments kept a good pace going. I also liked how they managed to retain a lot of player agency during the more corridor shooter-style levels. The game is filled to the brim with world detail and references, and mission context is scattered all around the map. It's clearly a labor of love for the franchise.

The gunplay feels good too, and the melee combat is addictive. You can do some John Wick shit like sliding across a table and kicking some dude while taking his gun. Speaking of which, I hope the new Wick game is good.

Also, I didn't expect these feels..

I didn't expect to like the story at all desu, especially since it's another origin story. But they shed a lot of that baggage by the time you enter the second mission. Things got dark really fast and it got me hooked from there on in. It relies a lot on Bond tropes and homages, but it's so very well executed.

You need to actually have refined taste and patience to be able to sit through some of the less engaging parts (just like watching a 007 film) so that the really good parts land. The story and pacing takes its time but pays itself off in so many ways so well.

Vietnam is a peak for the franchise and goes up there with any of the most iconic locations in the series.
>>
>>740258513
Trainers.
You'd think Cressida of all people would have better handwriting.
>>
>>740258223
They're definitely saving him for the sequel. Maybe coming back as a rogue agent or getting comprised by a terrorist group?
>>
>>740258615
That, or he was a SPECTRE asset all along. I wouldn't vote against that.
But I guess we also have to resolve that dangling Isola plotline. Does anyone even care about Isola?

Yeah, it's so rich in details. I almost could feel James' dread while walking around. The level design is so meticulously cooked to perfection. The fights in that apartment are so visceral because the room starts crumbling around you. I slammed the guy in the kitchen with his head on the stove and the frying plan just flew off across the kitchen. The mirror in the bedroom breaking, doors going off their hinges, ceramics breaking, ... it all adds so much to the experience.

>>740257660
Don't forget the direction. It reaches Kojima levels sometimes. The body language between Cressida and Monroe when you first need to do the car training sequence especially stood out.

I really liked the first training mission, it was presented like a movie take nd i liked it.
You get off the car after the driving tutorial, the camera pans and you are in a different moment doing the pistol training, camera pans again and its night and you are doing hand to hand training.
It was very well translated from a "movie training montage" into the videogame.
The game has enough personality to raise above the usual "stealth slop"

so uh guys is the game actually good or what, im getting mixed impressions here
>>
hmm
>>
One thing that bugged me about the game is that there’s a bit too much handholding. It’s kind of annoying when Bond is talking to himself saying what to do as if I couldn’t figure it out myself.

>>740264356
It’s good, just not as good as Hitman. It feels like a more polished version of a movie tie in game.
>>
>>740264356
it's a solid 8/10
>>
>>740264356
It's great, so long as you go in understanding it's a 20 hour linear stealth action adventure and NOT Hitman. You aren't getting that kind of freedom or replayability in any way. But if you want a very good James Bond game, this is it.
>>
I can tolerate the Greenway walk alongs until Knightfall. His missions have been a blast otherwise but now im running out of patience babysitting this rambling nignog through one of the most boring levels in the game.

Yes, it's good. It's like a higher budget, cinematic Hitman with more action scenes. It's also a genuinely good James Bond story.
>>
>>740264356
No, it's lazy AAA slop. Let me reemphasize: it's lazy shit made by people who hate video games. Modern western devs despite video games, so for them gameplay is just an obstacle to tell their shitty b-movie stories. That's why they fill the trash they make with QTEs, scripted sequences, walking and talking, absolutely no freedom or emergent gameplay, mission waypoints, x-ray vision, hand-holding, linear hallways, yellow paint, etc, etc.

If you want a perfect example of everything that is wrong with games, this is it. Later in the year you can also check Wolverine and God of Laundry to see how these "games" are all the exact same shit.
>>
>>740277838
>a cinematic game should never exist ever, even it's well made
Fuck off. It's like a slightly more directed Hitman game. Every major action sequence is full gameplay. They even let you roll the plane during that cover shooter segment.

This is IOI's push to try and attract the "core gaming" audience again. They made an atrocious Uncharted clone, and it wasn't even an okay one like the first 2, it was that one where the sheboon beats up Drake for 10 minutes to show off how cool she is. Then, at the 11th hour, they saw the tide turning, so they quickly removed a few cutscenes and redesigned a few of the women to be slightly less ugly, and now they're insisting that "Bond is back!".

The game is still openly anti-white, the general plot is killing evil ol whitey so that your multi-cultural rag tag group of incompetent retards can ultimately lose at the end to an enemy spy, but look, she feels sorry for Bond because of how worthless and incompetent he is, so she saves his life! What an exciting story, what a cool take on Bond.
