It makes me sad that both this game and the studio just straight up died out, Dredmor was a really cool TRAD roguelike for casuals with polish and humor and actually a nice level of autism and a lot of replay value. Is no one trying to revive this?
>no repliesC'mon fags actually bother to care about videogames for oncehttps://store.steampowered.com/app/98800/Dungeons_of_Dredmor/
I don't play it anymore because the version I still have somehow does work in a VM but it lags and pisses and shits itself all the time so it is not very enjoyable. If it was built on something more robust I would've played it again.
>>740255465ah yes.... i remember... a mere decade and a half ago.... like it was yesterday...frankly i never played it because i found it visually appalling
>>740255465Yea its a quality game. Diggles live rent free in my brain. Could never get a magic build going. Why would anyone need to revive it, it stands on its own just fine
>>740255465Yeah this game was sick.
>>740256446It's an old ass game, as far as I know the OG studio is ded and idk who gets the money for it anymore, and also it has some technical issues on modern systems as well as some specific unfixed bugsAll I know is that the site for the game now promises "something coming" and wants me to join a mailing list but idk what it means
>>740255465I love that workshop has added so many classes
>>740255465It was a neat idea but too niche and difficult for most.If you just 100% explore and kill everything on floor on everything on floor 2 will one shot you.
I always thought this game was popular but I guess that wasn't actually the case.
their website was updated within the last year or so saying something was brewing i thought
>>740256618Hey i'd be extremely down for an update or a sequel or something. I have a feeling the site might have been like that for a while though
>>740255465I haven't thought about this game in years. It was alright, but I'm pretty sure the general consensus, even back then, was that it was merely an OK casual dungeon crawler with some amusing humor and nothing more.
>>740256817Same, me and my friends all obsessed over this shit for a summer.Fwiw it's up there with meatboy for all time peak
I remember when they announced Clockwork Empires and how hyped I was for it. I heard the reason they went under was because of teenage esqu drama and not because of finances.
All I remember from this game was it being wildly unbalanced to the point that some of the professions/traits/whatever they call them you can mix and match are extremely good while others are worthless. I remember doing a turtle build that dual wielded shields that couldn't hit for harder than 1-2 damage tops but was borderline unkillable, I quit from boredom during a monster closet fight because it was taking like 10 minutes to kill anything but I was totally surrounded by monsters that simply couldn't harm me.Also the soundtrack is delicious.https://youtu.be/ZZcP65HwHmQ?list=RDwkf9ouZrbdo
>>740256618It means they'll mail you something
one of the devs posts on the steam discussions thing every now and thensomething is coming but there's some kind of legal trouble or some bullshit in the way so its taking a long while
>>740255465i played a couple runs of it a little while ago for the first time, there felt like an impenetrably vast amount of things to do and interact with, a billion items and things that all had multiple uses, i felt kind of paralyzed by indecision after i amassed a huge pile of garbage in a pocket dimension it was an interesting game but i didn't feel like playing 100 hours to get a basic grasp on what felt like all the systems in it
>>740255465My ex was obsessed with this game. I hope she's alright.
>>740255465damn what a throwback, one of the first games I played on steam
>>740255465>>740256405>15 yearsJesus, has it actually been that long
>>740257328>All I remember from this game was it being wildly unbalanced to the point that some of the professions/traits/whatever they call them you can mix and match are extremely good while others are worthlessyeah thats normal for roguelikes
The visuals are disgusting, I won't play it specifically because of the protagonist's eyebrows.
>>740258829Why’d you break up?
>>740259561Her penis was bigger.
>>740258829Post nudes
>>740255465it is really cool and im sad it doesnt have a proper sequel. but at the same time theres a good amount of mods and devs made 2 solid expansions. I still havent beaten it and i may spend another hundred hours after the extra 12 levels expansion. its really fucking goodd. Honestly maybe the most replayable game of all time for me. No stupid mechanics like carrying over progress across deaths, actual addictive classic progression, cheeky sense of humor that isnt self deprecating.
Sucks that the city building game they were making was a wet fart in early access and died, because I genuinely would have liked to see that one too.
