The one thing that irks me the most is that in the original GoW trilogy, Kratos kills himself with Athena's sword to free mankind from the gods because he understood the corrupting nature of being a god. You cannot remain free from the influence of corruption without such power. This was the entire message for GoW3 that wrapped up the trilogy. At the epilogue we see that despite the cataclysm, humanity has a chance free from the gods mirroring judeo christian diluvian tales.At the end of Ragnarok, Kratos is all ho hum running around with Freya talking about how awesome of a god he can be after seeing a mural which completely undermines the point of his sacrifice in GoW3. No gods, period, this should be even more self evident considering there's no humans in midgard. All of humanity is either dead or turned into reavers thus making him part of the problem.
