I grew up playing PS1 and PS2 games but every time I boot one up now I feel the infinite weight of time pressing down on my chest and find myself unable to enjoy them. It's not that they aged poorly, they just put me in a depressing mindset...
>>
Nah they aged like milk, especially visually.
>>
Sucks. Works on my machines though (SNES/Genesis/PCEngine).

Many of them DID age poorly.
Their mechanics are far too simple and one dimensional.
Too many people are unable to overlook their nostalgia of how that game made them feel and will argue their feelings over everything else.

There are still Ps1 and Ps2 (and GCN, xbox is fucking irrelevant and gay) games that are still fun and engaging, but the majority are weak compared to newer games. Newer games from experienced and talented devs have been built upon the foundations from the past and improved.
There's obviously a lot of slop, but trying to argue that new games are worse by using the examples of Modern Slop vs Past Gems is retarded.

I fucking hate my fellow old fucks who do nothing but cry about NEW BAD OLD GOOD.
But I REALLY fucking hate zoomers who do it. They're basically fucking posers trying to be YOU'RE SO COOL AND MATURE unlike the other kids!

sounds extremely gay OP like the same type of person that gets "raid anxiety" in wow or ffxiv.

I too know what it's like to be over 30. I feel my heart beating too quickly whenever I play action games. Any good turn based games?

You wanna name and shame a couple popular ones?

I mean I get what you're saying though. Maybe that is part of it, going back and even playing games I didn't play as a kid they're often very basic compared to what we have now.
>>
It's no big deal, you'll be able to play all the games you want in heaven

yep, most of my favorite games are from the last 10 years, and that's skipping all the dopamine bait
>>
>>740267079
The biggest examples are old RPGs.
They are just shallow as fuck every time. Feels like RPG maker games to me now
>>
>>740267598
how old you talking like SNES or are you a zoomer talking about PS2?
>>
>>740267702
I am 39 years old.
Even PS2 RPGs feel simple and archaic these days

same, currently playing a newer game though and not a PS1/PS2 era one.
Up next after this will be a replay of Elden Rangz DLC, followed up by FFT Advance, then Fantasian, and The Adventures of Elliot inserted in wherever I happen to be when it comes out.
I fucking love video games
>t. old person
