Based on sheer fear alone, this is the best horror game ever.
I haven't played Amnesia, though, so maybe I'm wrong.

it was for like the first 3-4 hours
After that it just felt like a chore dealing with the Alien
>>
I didn't find it that scary, that's probably why it was one of the few horror games I actually played all the way through.
I find space stations and xenomorphs to be cool as fuck so I was more hyped than scared the entire time I was playing
>>
it's scripted up the nose, including scripted events and alien patrol, the only cool thing in this game are the androids
>>
Hiding from a giant violent alien tranny is horror now. oh shiiiet, we in the gayest timeline.
>>
I'm so scared of setpiece sequences where I need to reactivate a generator for the 10th time while ole Whistlin Joe the retard robot meanders around and the actual fucking Alien hasn't been seen in 5 hours

Is it worth pushing past the really slow and boring intro? I played for like 30 mins and never encountered the alien before putting it down and forgetting to get back to it

Please be less stupid in the future, thanks. Something being scripted isn't bad. If anything that tends to be better since you know your scares will actually hit.

That's because it's ALWAYS up your ass, when shit is always tense the tension dissolves and shit just becomes annoying, dying loses its effect because you're dying so much and you can't fight back. Also, big issue with these invincible stalking monster games: not knowing whether to fight or run makes everything scarier, if flight is your only option, it doesn't stay scary for long. And while you can chase the Alien away, it doesn't stay gone for long, so it just becomes annoying.

I don't really get scared, I get more stressed than spooked, the closest to be spooked I think was going blind in P.T.
But yeah, I too, was just fucking delighted to experience it, for me, the single most best thing in the Alien franchise alongside the first movie. Absolutely lighting in a bottle.
I'm equally excited and cautious for the sequel.

I wish I had experienced it in VR for the first time, I don't feel nothing at jump scares, they're annoying even, but in VR they really work at getting me startled, like with RE7
