is this game worth buying or should I just emulate it?
>>
Nah it sucks
>>
>>740272831
What a stupid question op I hope you feel bad for being as dumb as you are
>>
>>740272923
I mean I have the money, I just wanna know if it's worth the money...
>>
>>740272831
emulate it. the actual devs won't get any money from you anyway.
>>
>>740272831
I've played both. Emulating is fine. The game has gotten ridiculously expensive and at most I'd buy a repro if I really wanted physical.

Emulating the game will let you speed it up, and that alone will make it playable, because it's a game full of waiting and moments where nothing happens. Not to mention the countless random battles that don't require strategy.

soulless

I think you have much better RPG choices on SNES, especially if we factor translation patches. It's not terrible and the setting might do it for you more than me, but I'd much rather play something like Dragon Quest, Wizardry, or SMT on there myself. If you're asking if I think it's worth about 400 bucks loose? No, not at all.
>>
>>740272831
I still have my cib earthbound from my childhood
I was actually going to take the scratch and sniff cards out one day but for some reason I stopped.

>Altering the game, no matter how "innocent" or how "busy" you are.
You didn't beat the game and are an embarrassment to your family.
>>
>>740272831
Emulate nigger
Or better yet play mother 2 deluxe faggot
>>
>>740274629
>countless random battles
skill issue
>>
>>740275561
>mother 2 deluxe faggot
link? don't particularly wanna search that
>>
>spending hundreds of dollars on plastic and cardboard that will sit on your shelf and never be played
genuine mental illness
>>
>>740272831
Buying like a physical cart?
I mean its your money. If you have a switch you could play it via the NSO but at that point you're just playing paid emulation so oyu may as well emulate.

>Hello. This is Shigesato Itoi. Nintendo will be releasing a new role-playing game called MOTHER, and I was its developer, director, writer, and other such exaggerated titles. Unlike previous role-playing games, this one takes place in the present....In the game, ordinary boys and girls much like yourselves use courage, wisdom, and friendship to battle enemies. There are lots of fun "extras" in the form of dialogue, objects, and places, and you'll miss them if you rush right through the game, so if possible − and I know it's strange to say this before it's in stores − try to play it at a leisurely pace and try not to ask for outside help. I think you'll enjoy it more if you figure things out on your own. I'm going to replay it that way myself, so if you can, don't "fast-forward" through it like a movie or TV show. The creator is already making requests this early on. It really draws you in, so please be sure it doesn't interfere with your studies. This has been Shigesato Itoi.
I know it's counter to the spirit Itoi-san intended, but JRPGs feel so slow to play now that sometimes my will not to use speed-ups fails...Forgive me...

i can't imagine playing those old trails in the sky games without the turbo function they added, holy shit
all jrpgs should do that

In Winters, do you encounter a metallic statue of a) a pencil or b) an octopus?

I don't recommend playing it if you're older than 12.
>>
>>740278146
danke. I'm finally playing mother 3 (gba sized screen filtered me for years), i'll check this out after.

>>740272831
Unless your buying it for all the extra shit it came with just emulate it
>>
>>740272831
Happy middle ground: get a flashcart.
>>

In the officially released video game EarthBound (USA), you encounter a Pencil. A player altering this game to make it appear as an Octopus like in Mother 2 (JPN), in spite of the rest of the game still being EarthBound (USA), would be creating their own alteration of the game we could dub GayRetardedFaggotBound (FAG-CHEAT), and he beat that game. He in no way beat EarthBound (USA) or Mother 2 (JPN).

>but JRPGs feel so slow to play now that sometimes my will not to use speed-ups fails
The problem isn't the JRPG, it's you. You're addicted to dopamine hits from social media and instant-gratification and no one has patience anymore. If you forced yourself to play without speed up, you'll feel frustrated and bored at first, but then you'll circle back around and have a shit ton of fun playing it at a slower pace.

>you'll circle back around
I sure hope this shit happens to you because it didn't for me and I abandoned the game around when you first arrive at that dinosaur area where you are really far from the camera. I'm not sure how close I was to beating the game though
>>
>>740278883
>The problem isn't the JRPG
The game will slow down when you've got your full team and there are lots of enemies on the screen. You'll notice it as early in Threed if you have Paula and a teddy bear.
>>
>>740278329
already mentally preparing myself to get fucked by the cops...whatever.
>>
>>740272831
Just emulate it. But it is 100% worth playing
>>
>>740279141
>that dinosaur area where you are really far from the camera. I'm not sure how close I was to beating the game though
You were at like the 85% mark. You could probably get to the ending from there in like a single weekend day.
>>
>>740272831
emulate unless you really like collecting physical.
>>
>>740278883
the JRPGs are literally made to fuel number go up addiction, defending them while complaining about instant dopamine is cringe

That's the best part of being an Earthbound fan, you dont actually need to play it.
>>
>>740272831
By asking whether you should "buy" it or "emulate" it you're essentially asking whether you should emulate it via Nintendo Switch or emulate it via PC. There's no difference. Just play the game, there's no specific setup you need in order to enjoy it. And you should play it by the way. It's not like anything else out there.
>>
>>740279557
At least they aren't like those point and click "fans". Yeah, I know non of you actually beat Myst.
>>
>>740279454
>the JRPGs are literally made to fuel number go up addiction
Not really. It's more like Japan has a specific autism of the concept of rankings and one rank being able to outclass another rank (i.e. Powerlevels), and even in the west it was designed as a rough estimate to experience, which is why that term is used. The idea of it being used as a skinner box comes well after that era of gaming, and the main point of games in that time period was the sense of adventure and mystery.

Wrong and gay on all accounts.
>>
>>740279632
Is the joke here that Myst is actually an adult babysitter?
