This is unironically correct. This was still a good idea generally while graphical fidelity was low and the character could just be some 2D sprite goblin with 4 pixels for a face or polygonal abomination with a flat textured face, but realistic human characters with realistic human faces sharted out by le realistic facescanning is something that is anathema to human psychology, no one actually wants this, they've just deluded themselves into thinking that it is desirable. The push for generic, bald, emasculated military man in 7th gen as a response to rising graphical fidelity coupled with the recognized demand for a truly generic character was a misstep based on consultant thinking that still wanted a face to put on the box, just give me some mute fuck that never takes off his or her helmet and doesn't exchange a single line of dialogue with any other recognizable human.
