The Dead Space UI is superb. I wish more games had these weird and wacky UIs that aren't just two or three bars at the top left and ammo count the bottom right
>>740284627I like Far Cry 2's ui being an actual map or gps
>>740284627Booby healthbar was weird but certainly unique
remember we cant have good things because controller trannies can only click 1 or 2 buttons and thats not their mental deficiency but its because the controllers have no buttons to press
>shity UI: />shitty UI at an angle:O
>>740285225What part of it is bad?
>>740284627you posted the one and only good example. Realistically you're looking at VR UI if you want to get extremely weird and diegetic.
>>740284627Say what you will about Fallout 3, but the Pip-Boy interface was genius. I always wanted one as a kid (then smartwatches came along and somehow made it gay and lame, like modern tech always does).
>>740286912Nah, the pipboy 3000 was always fucking retarded. An entire CRT monitor hanging off the character's wrist looked fucking retarded and made even less sense than the other shit Bethesda did in the game.
>>740287102>made even less sense than the other shit Bethesda did in the game.A personal assistant on your wrist makes immensely more sense than everything to do with Little Lamplight and Big Town.
>>740287102>giant chunky device doesn't make sense in a universe where they never invented the microchip or circuit boards and thus all technology was bulky, chunky and cumbersomekill yourself anon
>>740284627All the world-specific menus in Kingdom Hearts have a lot of heart (pun intended), and the animated titles at the start of each world have the same style.I also like how the portraits change with character status, and even the generic KH1 menu looks good. Something about the shapes, sound, and font just feel right.>>740285612Unique and creative doesn't necessarily mean weird or diegetic.
>>740287102The Pip-Boy was a wrist-mounted device since the first game. From the manual:>PIPBoy 2000 (hereafter called the PIPBoy), is a handy device that you wear on your wrist. It’s small, especially by today’s standards, and it will store a goodly amount of information for you. And using modern super-deluxe resolution graphics to boot!Bethesda just gave it more meta functions like managing your inventory. The only real retcon here was removing the titular Pip-Boy and replacing him with Vault Boy. I get why they did it (keeping a consistent brand and all) but still a bit of a shame.
>>740285051Do you think controllers were invented in 2015? The enshittification of UI has zero to do with some people not using keyboard and mouse.
>>740284717Wow, this is a Far Cry from the current state of this series
>>740285051Dead Space was made for consoles first though>thats not their mental deficiencyThis is blatantly false, Nioh proved you can at least triple the amount of inputs your controller has by utilizing multi-button inputs to the fullest, the fact most cucksolefags prefer one button = one action is due to their mental deficiency
How would you guys make a good UI for a hack and slash based around prosthetic weapons like in Sekiro? Cyberounk aesthetic
>>740290882The player changes weapons by changing his arm?If so a visual feedback would be nice.
>>740290882I would make the arm explosively expand and mutate to form the elements of the menu then have the camera zoom in on it. No, this ability is never explained or addressed in universe.
>>740291532Correct. I thought of using different colors for different arms, but I wanted like zooming into the shoulder to show some actuators or something cool like that. I dunno.>>740291673That sounds fucking awesome. How would it explode? Since it's a cybernetic prosthetic, maybe the shoulder can open and the camera can zoom into it
>>740286912>all the buttons and dials on the left, so you'd block the screen with your arm if you try using any of themPeak design
>>740284627anons, I played the original dead space several years ago, but didn't finish itdo I replay it, or play the remake instead? I don't care about one troon bathroom desuas in, yeah, it's troonery, but I can ignore it
>>740291906The original has better artistic vision and art direction. Characters are better too.
>>740291958do the new graphics and gameplay make up for the flaws?
>>740291973Not in my anonymous opinion. I replayed the original 3 times or so, but never felt the urge to replay the new one.
>>740285612Astroneer proves you can have interesting world/UI parity with just KBM controls.
>>740284627Any UI with the fucking controller buttons on it is automatically shit.
>>740284627The UI from KCD is probably my favourite out of any game ever.
The Dead Space UI is a gimmick for normalfags that don't understand anything about UITo use a food analogy, the Dead Space type of UI is the design equivalent of those restaurants that focus on dumb flashy gimmicks like gold leaf decoration or steam bubbles instead of actual food quality and taste
>>740293894>buzzword>buzzword>food ANALogy>buzzword
>>740291906The original. Barring the fuss surrounding the newer one, it's just a nauseating, bloated slog that overextends the pacing because of its open-endedness and need to fill in the new space. The simpler storytelling also helps the experience, considering it's a much more constrained locale compared to the other two games, so it being tighter and more focused helps the atmosphere and tension. The necromorphs also look more visceral and mean overall, although that depends on whether you'd notice.Personally, Isaac talked way too much for my taste, the weapons were awkwardly balanced, and the new art direction emphasising detail is way too gauche, drawing away from its retro-inspired pulpy sci-fi vibe. I also miss the loading screens, but that's an unfortunate casualty because of technology than any artistic decision. À la how remakes often go overboard in illuminating once-moody locales, the Dead Space Remake also lightens the story and mechanics to a point it's cuddly. And Peng is all that's needed. But you can, y'know, play the Remake if you'd prefer a semi-Metroidvania.
>>740294025Seething normalfag
>>740294364>buzzword buzzword
>>740286912I'd prefer a grid over a list with no way to sort shit. Looks cool and is unique though
