Too much info is given about the fascist/empire faction when they should be in the background as cannonfodder for having shallow motivations. IRL rebel/revolutionary groups aren't a monolith, they're a variety of groups with a common goal and constantly infight among each other. The conflict should center on how they want to shape the post-revolution status quo. Make the meaningful fights/conflicts be between the rebel factions as opposed to the Empire.
New Republic era is fine, only the outer outer rim is space somalia and most places have some degree of order against major threats curtailed by limited resources and political fuckery.
