>>740299010If you take away the story, all you're left with is the worst survivor horror RE.The game is just backtracking upon backtracking, picking up items that require going through two whole buildings to use them, running across the entire length of RE1's entire game world to go and get one (1) item so you can go ALL the way back. It's awful.
>>740299079The backtracking is no way near as bad as you present it, and, frankly, is a worthy sacrifice for the interconnected nature of Rockfort. You have to keep in mind an entire Island and all its various locations in order to properly solve the game's puzzles, and you can even tackle certain sections of the place in a non-linear manner. Besides that, the survival horror elements of CV are better in a few ways. For example, I don't think any classic RE besides maybe 1 has resource scarcity be a concern for as long as CV does. 2 in particular, running out of bullets or healing is something you should never be worried about.
