Hopes for FF7 Part 3: Redux?I really hope the lighting is overhauled. Them staying on UE4 makes me wonder if they have more headroom for visuals, there are UE4 games that clearly look better than Remake/Rebirth, but might just be to get the game out faster. Rebirth's lighting is so fucking bland, and the visuals generally don't "pop". I also hope we get a dedicated jump button. It would feel like the biggest change in combat is to have actual jumping and launchers.

Remake's lighting was fine. Rebirth has areas that don't even have shadows and almost all grass have flags that prevent them from casting shadows. The problem? Consoles.

>>740294349The worst-looking areas in the entire game are all indoor areas, like here and Under Junon. The game basically treats everything as covered in shadow, but it's still so bright you'd think shadows should be cast. Also no AO anywhere. Look at the Tonberry. It looks like it's a bugged object in the game world that doesn't interact with lighting.
I hope it deviates wildly from the original story and nufans start coping by saying it's a better direction anyway

The problem with Rebirth's lighting is the ridiculous amounts of auto exposure used to create the fake HDR effect, which in turn actually ruins real HDR.You'll be outside, and anything inside is literally pitch black until you step into it then it swaps to normal and looking outside is pure white.And this is constantly happening all over the place and is dependent on actual camera position so you can see huge shifts just by moving the camera around, it's fucking awful.
>>740298957Yeah, a lot of games have this shit system. Each area has different lighting conditions. Move that camera into an area with one condition, and the lighting changes in the other. It's retarded when they could just use Lumen for proper lighting.
