Will their monopoly ever end?
>>
no such thing as valve monopoly
when you stop being a fucking retard update your shit store and sell games cheaper than the competition
>>
Go back to bed Tim
>>
>>740296776
maybe if those other stores didn't choose to shit the bed maybe valve would've had some actual competition.
>>
>>740296841
Thats not fair. EVEN if they have lower prices, you will stick to steam due to the sheer wide abundance of games.
It is a a MONOPOLY.
>>
>Will their monopoly ever end?
Yeah, too pro consumer to exist legally in this industry.
>>
>>740296776
Make a better service, Timmy

The easiest way to tell that the "steam = monopoly" argument is just corporate propaganda is that Nintendo, Xbox and Sony never receive this criticism despite having ACTUAL store monopolies on their respective consoles.
>>
>>740296965
>do a better storefront
>"t-that's not FAIR!"
what's not fair is the end user being subject of fucking barebones, slow and bloated stores because they can't be assed to fix their shit, oh no investment too expensive please understand
and fuck you timmy, you and your rocks you autistic fuck
>>
>>740296776
If it ever does, that's the day gaming dies definitively and forever.
>>
>>740296965
i buy shit at aliexpress because its cheaper than everywhere else
its a monopoly too?
>>
>>740296776
when someone else who's a PC gamer CEO decides to make a store
not one of the other CEOs is a gamer
>>
>>740296776
Make a better service.
Better for the end consumer, that is.
>>
>>740297098
Or EGS paying to keep games off of competitive storefronts that otherwise would be able to sell the product just fine because it is not a technical limitation.
>>
The little hat tribe really isn't taking their loss well.
>>
>>740296776
yes, when someone invents something better. not when le happy merchant sweeney copies them like he did everything epic ever created and undercuts them by 2% lmao
>>
September 12, 2003
>>
>>740296776
First it would have to begin. There are other storefronts and even consoles to get your games
>>
>>740296776
Yeah when Gabe dies and the company gets enshittifies by private equity
>>
It's nothing really worthwhile video games shouldn't have competitors. Do you get mad at Toy Stores with monopolies?
>>
>>740296776
Lmao no.
>Nobody wants to make another fucking account for some thing, just like nobody wants another fucking launcher.
>No one trusts launchers from publishers that are definitely sticking in adware and probably sticking in spyware
>Nobody trusts these new storefronts to consistently stick around to provide service when the average company will just shut down all their shit whenever they're tired of it or it makes it easier to sell a new thing
Most importantly no one wants to deliver a better service, because that means having GOG-tier profit margins.

Would it be difficult for a company to just have a decently programmed storefront with ZERO extra accountslop that just gives me a cryptographic key to save that I can use to download a DRM-free and launcher-free game from their service whenever I want with fucking wireguard or something? Probably not.
Are they gonna do it? Also probably not.

Why are valvegans like this?

Steam will outlast you, Timmy. Fortnite's past its prime, and when that money dries up, both it and Epic will fall apart.

it will if they don't immediately revert the recent store page redesign
>>
>>740297778
>Fortnite's past its prime
The most recent season had its worst numbers ever. That bald retard really thought Fortnite would never die and didn't bother making new games to replace it.

And people are pissed at UE5 and the upcoming UE6 for their shitty performance. Even the Lords of the Fallen guys told EGS to eat shit.

Turns out poorfags greatly outnumbered the ones with 5070s and above.
>>
>>740298591
>Turns out poorfags greatly outnumbered the ones with 5070s and above.
children and young adult literally can't afford 5070 pcs and dad gamers are irrelevant
>>
>>740296965
Ok and why do you suggest then?
That Steam stops getting new games?
If you need a store to stop its activities for others to be able to stand a chance, that's a skill issue
There's no Steam monopoly; people who want to use something else have that option
>B-but it's not as good!! It's not fair!!
Not Steam's problem
>EVEN if they have lower prices, you will stick to steam
Well, yeah, the same way console players stay on their favorite consoles even if the others are doing some things better
>>
>>740296776
No, because nearly all their competition are money-grubbing retards
>>
>>740298591
>Turns out poorfags greatly outnumbered the ones with 5070s and above.
I could buy better components, but why would I bother? My GTX1070 runs Dying Light and Dishonored 2 perfectly, games are not substantially better looking than those at all, they're basically all UE5 slop at this point, and they have dogshit performance even on 5070 pcs. Every game worth playing in the last 10 years is an indie anyway, the AAA are just worse rehashes of older games.
>>
>>740298000
>try to erase the franchises that put you in the map
That was what made me ditch Epic for good. The sheer disrespect towards the original Unreal games and Infinity Blade was so disgusting that I never touched Fortnite, and deleted his shit store from all my devices.

He will burn in a hell of his own making.
>>
>>740296776
The moment their "monopoly" ends is the moment games become streaming only, paid for by the hour.
>>
>>740298892
The freaks of Ngreedia and Microslop would love that, but the vibe boil will pop and destroy them long before such horror becomes the norm.
>>
I wish there was an alternative to Google Play store, because that is a true monopolist on Android. Their storefront is deliberately shit and frontloaded with shovelware and gacha, and they get away with it because they have no competition. If a serious competitor showed up with better games and service, Google would have to improve theirs.

Reminder that Google is going to make it so Android devices literally will not run software that isn't on the Google Play Store starting in September. They're going to require Google Play certification as a "security measure" even for things you download and install outside of it.

thats not what a monopoly is, you can't proclaim something is a monopoly just because it provides the absolute best service, they don't do anything to actively harm competition outside of simply being better.
>>
>>740298000
don't forget tim sweeney actively harming linux and for some reason bought bandcamp just to downsize it, i genuinely think this man is the antichrist

Valve reserves the right to remove your game from Steam if you offer lower prices on other platforms. You have to agree to this when you publish your game on Steam. It appears they selectively enforce this policy with unarticulated/secret rules that they don't share publicly or with developers for that matter.

Don't forget him defending Grok making CP
Don't forget him firing 2000 people
Don't forget him jacking up Fortnite's prices after saying he was fighting Apple/Google/Valve to help lower prices
Don't forget him seething because Valve requires AI disclosures
Don't forget him saying his lawsuits were like the civil rights movement
