Never played the originals but am interested in this remake. How is the combat in this game? Would you compare it to elder scrolls, dark souls, or dragons dogma?

I can't speak for what the remake is really like but the voice acting is way better in the original. Like dramatically so.

>>740312838The combat is really shit, but an interesting idea. I liked it. In the original you hold the attack button and then press right and left to attack in those directions. Back/down makes you do a little back dash and forward/up makes you step forward and attack. If you time your inputs you can get better frame data on your strikes by canceling the end of the animations and there are a couple combos. It's a really unique and interesting combat system but it sucks because movement and spacing isn't really a thing apart from the back dash, because of the games tank controls, and because the game auto locks on to one enemy and changing targets is a huge pain in the ass.The remake has removed the tank controls, the need to hold the attack button, and switched attacking with the directional buttons to the face buttons. It also has souls-like lock on and spacing, so it should be better but still as good as something like Dragon’s Dogma.

It's entirely playable and a pretty unique and interesting system I've never seen in any other game. The game is also really hard and has great power progression which makes combat encounters better than the combat alone would have. Gothic is great.
