Are these any better than the other Souls games?

It's the best trilogy of action RPGs ever made. They are too mechanically deep and complicated to be compared to Souls games really, because at that point it depends on "do you like having a million different moves, skills, status effects, ninja and mage skills, guardian spirit powers, yokai powers etc. all at your disposal simultaneously or do you just want to press R1 at the right time". If you like depth and intricacy in both combat and build-crafting, then Nioh is about as good as it gets. 2 in particular is one of the best games ever made.

>>740319562They are not deep. You buff up before a fight (magic, weapon buffs, etc) and then you learn the boss pattern. Difference is, the bosses are way more lenient and you have more attack windows. Its the opposite of Shadow of the Erdtree. Its actually fun.You buff up between windows, you can use magic bursts and you can stock up on more "estus" than is naturally available to you, too, alsong as you have the money.
Nioh > Nioh 2 > Nioh 3games just keep getting worse and worse.

Storywise there isnt much to miss, the ending is self-contained without prior knowldge of Nioh 1 and the ending is actually one of the best in any of these games, very satisfying.But beware, the game is somber in tone and setting. Very somber actually, borderline Silent Hill-y
They're tons of fun, but they all offer really obvious paths of least resistance, which kinda sabotages their balance, ESPECIALLY in 3, which has it's strengths, but is inferior.

I tried Nioh 1 years ago but gave up after getting tired of being two shot by every single enemy in the game. Like, one minor mistake and its over.Never bothered with the sequels.

I have played all Souls games. I bought Nioh 2 3 times and put like 400 hours into each version. Its one of the best action games ever made.
