I miss chudding out on MMOs bros. When will it be our time again?

I don't think a new MMO should be without the following:

•No levels. Historically, leveling retention has been awful. Maybe as low as 3% making it to max. Approximately nobody wants to play dozens to hundreds of hours of a dumbed down, forced tutorial that massively segregates players and obsoletes 90% of the world.
•No bind-on. Let players trade what they get. Economically, more options is more strategy. Albeit, you should have a disenchant crafting loop.
•No gold repairs. You can't reasonably miss out on the millions of resources that material durability would use. What are players going to do with resources if they're not playing the stay alive to keep playing card? The risk:reward could be huge. I want to see size, speed, and power rivaling comics.

I also want to see compelling world PvP. New World did pretty well allowing you to own and make money from cities. EVE is another great example with citadels and faction warfare. One thing that would absolutely undermine WPvP is factions that make a large percentage of players friendly. But please have good queued gamemodes: Capture the Flag, Domination.

Economy is the what to do besides PvE and PvP. I mentioned material repairs, and that's probably necessary, while being the difference between a themepark and a sandbox, but give players endless ways to spend gold (loot boxes). This highlights the importance of material usage / durability design. Players can be in and out of equipment as if it's DayZ, and risk:reward, edge of your seat gaming is approximately *the* thing that the industry is missing. But EVE proves you can have a good economy with megaguilds and bots.

What else?

Let players make real money by trading in-game. Average US income is $65k. You're not going to meet their expectation on grinding efficiency vs. swiping for a subscription token, and you can let players grind and meet the demand of the rich. It's the future; you need to deal with that.

I agree. I used to love this about the older games. I would also add that there should be looser level requirements for items. My alt should be able to use shit my main farmed for it. I used to love this about EverQuest.
>no gold repairs
I have never understood why this was a thing in the first place

A mmorpg should be exactly like GUILD WARS 3

Well....Guild Wars 3 was just announced lol

LOL

>>
>>740334949
Yeah, and if you're going to have all that, it should also be drop all equipment items on death. As well as being able to find any kind of equipment item from randomly discovered chests/tombs/etc, anything from bottom tier to top tier. Larger chests deep within strongholds and stuff would have larger loot pools and higher odds of finding the powerful equipment. There should also be something functionally like a minecraft totem that the player can gimp themselves slightly in exchange for having a layer of protection to guard from losing all their stuff upon dying.

worst art style of any mmorpg
and gw2 looked so good
guess they fired their artists and started to use AI, sure looks like it at least

this fag needs to stay away from game development. Every single idea is pure horseshit.

>A combat system designed from the outset to feel great on both a controller and keyboard rewards positioning by emphasizing the joy of movement and momentum. As players seamlessly transition between various movement modes, they can harness their speed and turn it into bigger damage and impact when fighting their foes.

So I'm not even trying to shit on OSRS. I promise you a part of me would love to enjoy it. I actually DID enjoy RS2 when we all grew up on it and it was all we knew. It WAS better back then.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gb89MmG4X8

But here I am watching Alkan and I'm like holy fucking shit how do people find anything he is doing fun? Genuinely. Look at all of the shit he is having to do in this video. And he doesn't even sound happy doing it. It also annoys me how many slop items they have to juggle around in the inventory. I don't even know what half that shit is.

Bots aren't going to supply millions of players. You can always increase the requirements of materials, too.

demand will always make more bots. as soon as it becomes profitable, you will have chink farms where one person operates a thousand bots. this is always the case in everything.

is SWTOR decent as a MMO? I say as a MMO because I don't care about just the story. is the game still alive? do players still interact with each others?
>>
>>740340620
is that game still alive? I remember seeing fucking ads for it 20 years ago, how is this still going?
I never played it but it doesn't make sense, the original demographic for it doesn't even play these games anymore, who the hell is playing this?

There's been a poll floating around on here, reddit, and Steam, asking if people want a pride parade in Runescape.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1343370/discussions/0/839503389267190633/

Interestingly enough, it appears as if Runescape is confirmed Chud player base.
>>
>>740365294
>What are regional servers?
Also, you can't increase supply indefinitely. But as I said before, if prices get to low, you just buy them out and resell.
>>
>>740334949
Every 14-year-old comes up with their """supergame,""" and all of them think the main thing that makes a game better is reality.
>"Whoa dude, what if it was REAL???"
>"What if you REALLY had to make all the items???"
>"What if there was a REAL economy???"
>What if there were REAL politics???"
>"Dude, EVE Online is REAL, fantasy MMOs should be more REAL!!!."
Every suggestion boils down to REALslop. Okay, just because you're a fucking faggot and you liked Sword Art Online doesn't mean it'sa good idea. Video games are a different medium of expression than anime, and they're not comparable to real life, whether you like it or not. Some people like their games to be fucking GAMES first, not autistic simulations of the """realistic""" non-fun BS you have in mind.

Guild Wars isn't an MMO, never was. It player hubs + sharding.
