He's spent the last decade establishing his own indie company and getting enough funding first for their first game (Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey) and now for this. Fuck Ubisoft, I hope this game is great, because the dude deserves it.

THQ went bankrupt, was acquired by Ubisoft who proceeded to fire him again and kept the 1666 IP. Désilets filed a lawsuit that lasted from 2013 to 2016, after which he was given the IP but whatever was created for the game was too old gen to continue. He established Panache Digital Games and released their first and only game so far in 2019. Since then I guess they've been looking for people to help finance their next project and working on it in the small indie capacity they've been able to. Must be hard going from Ubisoft and THQ-tier budgets to indie and having to care for an entire company of people as their boss and not just team leader.
