Why are people so desperate for a third entry to what's basically just mid live service slop?

you had to be there to understand

I just want Bungie to humiliate themselves once more and die.

I remember the disappointment the first Destiny was from day 1 and it never got any better. Just broken promise after promise, a compromise in the form of a game.

If you were actually there you would know.

For all it's flaws and mismanagement, there really is no other game like it. That's why it lasted as long as it did even with Bungie almost killing it multiple times.

I was there, I was disappointed and dropped it after a few hours.

I listened to this podcast where the hosts got obsessed with Destiny and would talk about it every week for years
I didn't see the appeal back then either

Well you have to understand a couple things about Destiny and Destiny 2. They were always on the cusp of being great games, and they almost achieved it with OG Destiny but Activision and Bungie executives fucked that up when they moved over to Destiny 2 because OG Destiny had already established a ton of content, devised a bunch of system for grinds and rewards, so moving over to Destiny 2 was like hitting the reset button and Destiny 2 had its own problems that took literal years to eventually fix which I wont go over because it would be paragraphs of why people hated Destiny 2 in Y1 but eventually they also started kicking the ball in D2 but the game director and narrative teams just kept fucking it up every single time.
First it was "Okay, we're going to remove a ton of D2Y1 content but we're going to replace it with D1 content to make one Destiny game with a myriad of fan favorite Destinations, strikes, raids, gear etc" but when that fell apart (around 2023-2024). they were throwing anything that stuck, they just kept fucking up expansions and then the director at the time decided to do a gear sunsetting (regrind all your shit but we're not going to update any of the gear that came out before what was considered the latest expansion) and it was just a really bad time to do that when everyone was pissed off with the way they kept adding more trash to the game and it quickly became apparent that the new stuff was infinitely worse than what they took out from years ago.
The star wars DLC is notoriously hated and its funny how that is the last piece of destiny people will remember from this unique setting.
I think the June 9th update will help, but ultimately the game is stained with a dogshit star wars dlc for the rest of time
