Can't do anything with Luke's Jedi Order or the New Republic because they get wiped out, can't fight the First Order after TFA because they the galaxy surrendered in the five minutes between Starkiller Base blowing up and TLJ starting. There's hardly anything to work with, it's no wonder just about every Star Wars project avoids going too far in the timeline.

>>740409945The core reason the prequels lasted in the long run is because they're absolutely stuffed with good ideas and absolutely fantastic visual design and mostly let down by awkward pacing and stiff acting, and crucially George went back and bankrolled TCW to build something that made the most of all the good ideas and either leave the bad ideas behind or improve on them - even Jar Jar has some pretty decent episodes about him, IIRC. Without TCW I don't think the prequel era would be anywhere near as well-regarded as it is today, opinions would have cooled over time but hardly anyone would be pointing to it and unironically claiming that it's their favourite part of Star Wars.Meanwhile the sequel trilogy is a great big pile of bad ideas and there isn't much you can pull out of it and put together to make something good, and nobody is even trying and there's basically zero tie-in material, even back when the prequels were brand new and catching hate from all directions there was stuff like the Genndy CW series and well-regarded video games like Republic Commando and Battlefront coming out. The only vague equivalent for the sequels that I can think of off the top of my head were the EA Battlefront II maps, and even then it felt like they were being made under pure contractual obligation and the developers just wanted them out of the way so they could go back to adding more Clone Wars stuff.
