Last week I finally decided to write down a list of the video games I've played. I couldn't find a good way to do it, so I made my own.
https://github.com/TrainStream/BackloggdLibraryExporter/releases/tag/1.0

I chose Backloggd because it seemed to be the most popular option, with an okayish game search. I also assumed it had a way to export your library, but it didn't. I only realized that after adding around 500 games.
What started as a simple csv exporter grew into an html with a lot of feature creep.
I wasted a lot of time on this shit, so I'm posting it here in case it's useful to someone else.

Why though

I wanted to finally have a list of the games I'd played, and then made it more functional.
>>
Forgot to say, but it is a user script. You need violentmonkey or some other user script manager to run it.
Though, I am sure everybody already has 4chan X and knows how user scripts work.

what da difference between backlog and wishlist
>>
>>740375858
The website had it, so I added it.
I am guessing backlog is just your normal backlog, and the wishlist is like on steam, for people to gift you shit.
>>
>>740376158
well i'm asking you because you are using it
you've got 3 games on wishlist
so why the fuck did you do that instead of backlogging them
tell me already
>>
>>740376280
I just needed games in different categories to test stuff.
>>
>>740376384
so you're posting your fucking work in progress dashboard!? how about finish up your workand get some nice clean screenshots before you start shilling your garbage everywhere. take some pride in your work and do it dilligently
kill yourself and pack up this garbage project

It is finished, you sperg.

>Backloggd
Backloggd is a website ran by shitty people. I hate Backloggd and I hope every person who was responsible for that website is fired! Fuck Backloggd.

Everyone should feel the same vitriol I feel for this site. It's a video game database website that is Anti-Fiction. Notably, they nuked Black Souls 1 & 2 (the censored Steam version), and they have numerous Anti-Fiction restrictions.

> Some games exist in a gray area, they have a "censored" version available on places like Steam, but they are essentially used as a proxy for the uncensored originals. The uncensored versions of these games have largely not been allowed on Backloggd for a while now. These are not the same as adult-games like above, but ones that violate the content policy we share with IGDB.
> There are a handful of games in a limbo state on the site right now that will remain locked until a better system can be made to handle them. Allowing free rein has been too loose for the sensitive subject matter that surrounds these games, but I do understand the historical relevance and awareness they pose.
Currently, the website has many games that are actually noncompliant under Backloggd's restrictions (and the policy they copied from IGDB). This website is unsustainable.

Additionally, a /v/ anon was using the site's list feature to make a list of censored games, but it was banned off the website.

>my list was banned from the site for including "slurs, intolerance, and language that sexualizes minors" (none of these were in my list in any form, and I made a point to make the information in my list as autistically unbiased and neutrally worded as possible to avoid guidelines issues)

What a joke of a database. They just rip off of MobyGames (which is superior because it has a credit section that can be searched) or Amazon/Twitch's IGDB (Backloggd even copied IGDB's anti-fiction restrictions).

So you are saying MobyGames is better?
Seems barely used, which can also mean it might die at any time.
Moby has an exporter so probably easy to convert into my html format.
Though about doing the same for HowLongToBeat.

I just use GameFAQs, as dogshit as Fandom owning it is.

I mean, good you made a .csv -> .html exporter though. Something I wish GameFAQs would offer.

It won't work with other sites' csvs right now, but I might make it to eventually.

Yes. To my understanding, MobyGames is better. Backloggd is just IGDB with everything else stolen from MobyGames. Backloggd's only benefit is its public list feature, which as I shown has been restricted and censored under Anti-Fiction policies. Arguably Backloggd is the less sustainable site given its Anti-Fiction staff. They are against freedom of fictional expression.
As for MobyGames, it has existed for a very long time, but I really only use it for the credits feature so my use case is different from yours. It seems that at one point it was incredibly active. For example, some games' screenshot section have a ton of screenshots with LP-like commentary blurbed underneath.
For visual novels (I'm a weeb), I use vndb which has an incredible (unrivaled & the best) search and tag system. For anime, I use anidb which has a better tagging system than every other anime database, and it even has the ability to search for fantranslations/subtitles by language. Sadly, anidb seems less active (and less shilled) than most sites. Lastly, for manga, I use mangaupdates.

I've only ever used GameFAQs to check the age-ratings boards' certifications/ratings of games across regions. Also its box art section can be pretty good, especially to view multiple regions' box art. However, modern games just include the digital store's art, rather than physical box art scans.
But, Fandom owning it is indeed grim. (This is also news to me.) I'll never forgive Fandom for banning the Alicesoft wiki and Monster Girl Encyclopedia wiki. Their restrictions have also censored images of bare-breasted demons in Megami Tensei's fandom. Because of this, Megami Tensei has two wikis, but I'm unsure if the independent wiki is as active as the fandom one.

MobyGames lists seem easy enough to export.
HowLongToBeat should be too.
GameFaq seems a bit confusing, but probably can be done.
Gonna be a busy month, but I will work on it.
