Graf being Graf. He kept waiting for the time when the people making multiplayer sourceports would fold their work back into the main ZDoom branch, but he never really outreached properly or put in the effort to adapt their work, feeling it was beneath him to do so.

He then kept getting more and more upsetti spaghetti as the csDoom line of ports kept growing and deviating, especially since they'd keep moving to later iterations of ZDoom and thus get to use Graf's work while he was too mad to implement theirs. It was a major fukken stick in his craw that Zandronum was popular when it was based on an older version of ZDoom that doesn't even have full DECORATE support.

And of course, during all of this, GZDoom gets more and more features that are harder to network online, so it becomes a bigger and bigger task to implement it. Just because Graf can't actually work with other people and has a huge ego.

The whole tranny flag thing to me is really just the earliest sign that a thing is now someone's personal fiefdom. The rot always sets in soon after.
