I decided to restart a project i had in the making, is a ninja girl who has to fight other ninja girls and to be clear yes this is gooner bait but is not NSFW at all. i recently finish the basic systems for the game so i decided to do some sprites for the art. i enjoyed the process a lot but i want to know your opinion before moving with the rest of the code. what would you improve? what is your favorite combination? currently mine would be C3
some animation i did to test the proportions
i think c2 is pretty neat, also this looks really good :D
>>740381867C2 and C3
yeah C3 looks finegood luck on your project
>>740381867>C3yepit's pretty good as is to me
3 will be a nightmare to animate and won't read well at all. C1 is what I'd go with. Simple, readable, but still distinct and the long red scarf lends itself well to dynamic animations. Maybe consider adding some short ribbons/stray hair to her hair buns for more dynamism in quick little gestures. Like if you make her crouch, her ribbons could flip up for two frames instead of having the scarf blow up for ten frames.
Make her a loli or I shalln't play your game.
>>740381867C2+5. Bit of the glossiness of 5 on 2 would be primo.
>>740381867C3
>>740382932im really aware of this, as a solo dev im sure i would be limited to simple sprites, right now it takes me around 2-4 hours to do a simple sprite animation like >>740381896 and i spend a lot of that time figuring out how to make it look good, C shading will probably add a few hours to a single sprite, the problem would be that the whole game would need to follow the same render for consistency which i think is unsustainable
>>740381867Don't go with 3, or those dot fishnets will eat your soul long before your project is finished.
>>740386302at this point i have 3 in my heart but not in my mind, there is no way these fishnets would look good. i tried animating something with them and what i get is this weird "pixel shifting" effect that looks weird and it feels more like a bug than movement.
>>740386639C with 2 boots and remove the space buns and maybe put a mask on her
>>740381867I would need to see a full screen of the game at intended resolution, or at least some background, c could be fine but it would need to the whole game to match it. I dislike 5c. Not just the outfit but how the shading looks with the outfit. Might look ok with the c1 outfit.
2 makes her legs look fat
>>740381867In terms of preferences, 5 is the only one that I would avoid using because it's less distinct, but you really cooked with 2-4.I personally like 1 the most, but also enjoy some elements from the others, namely the scarf from 3, it looks pretty on her and very cool looking. I assure you, giving it two ends as opposed to just one like in 1 and 5 will pay off in terms of looking cool.Keeping development in mind, I'd say 1b with 3's scarf. I do think c-shading looks the best, but depending on your workload and concerns you're already having, b-shading just seems more doable. The shading despite its simplicity does look nice, and the base design of 1 has no dithering like 3 that will absolutely destroy your motivation. If you really want to go with c-shading, switch at the end of development only, it will save you a lot of redoing and surprises mid-development when you realize you need to do new sprites.Wishing you the best, anon. Treat her well and treat your game well.
>>7403818673 is my favorite but looks like a bitch to animate. 2 is a good compromise, but I'd add the red scarf from 3 to it.>pelvic curtain + nopanPatrician taste.
