>>740393240Kind of true. The ony thing against it is that due to the way Materia works there isn't all that much distinction in the way they play, outside of individual stats and limit breaks. The only exception being the Wutai sidequest since it's most optimum to use Barret and Vincent for their long range weapons so you can put them in the back row and save on potions, but otherwise that's about it.

>>740397984Cait Sith is actually a pretty decent mage but the problem is that unless you're doing some exploit bullshit his limits are pretty much the worst in the game. Ultimately the pragmatic approach is to give Cloud all the best spells and have Barrett, Cid or Yuffie make up the rest of the team since they have by far the best stats and limits by the mid-to-late game. Again, assuming you're not doing exploits like turning Vincent into a one-shot monster.
