I literally can't understand the core gameplay here
What's supposed to be deep about this game? I don't get it.
You fight all enemies in the same way, boosting sideways or occasionally climbing/staying up, maybe doing some boosting to fool homing missiles.
You kick enemies (but damn that's clunky as fuck to actually pull off without lock on and you end up overshooting past the enemy or missing by several meters) and shoot your guns and then fire your big guns when the enemy is staggered
This is it. This is literally all there is.
You don't have to evaluate if your sword swing will take too long and lock you in place for retaliation, if you will outrange your opponent, if the enemy will stagger when you hit him and get interrupted.
Everything is about this basic comboshit game
I legitimately can't see the skill ceiling here

#1 they nerfed the game heavily after release so casuals wouldnt get frustrated (if you want to play the game as devs envisioned you have to play on release, this is true for every fromsoft game)

#2 there are encounters that will counter certain weapons/builds. so if you go all in on one weapon type you could still be roadblocked a bit.

#3 you can make tanky mechs and speedy glass cannon mechs, its not like every build is exactly the same.

Literally nothing, AC was never a deep game. You just make cool robots. It actually does have a fairly robust rank system though, which layers in a bit of depth, and those scores are recorded.

I have only played this one but I am very interested in hopefully one day playing at least some of the previous games in the franchise. The way I saw ACVI as I was playing it is that it was clearly like a mecha power fantasy sort of game. You have this garage, you have practically infinite money that you never have to really worry about, and you go to make all types of builds to play with on the missions. I guess this would go over the head of a guy like you OP but I enjoyed it immensely for what it was. Yeah it leans more on the easy side but going for the platinum for this game was incredibly fun for me. Playing to get an S rank was fun even though the game should be more clear on its ranking system. Not sure how the other games in the series would be by comparison but literally all look fun to me so that is already a positive.

you spastically circle strafe the target, locked on or not (using mouse, say), and then just spam all your weapons. you can kinda get a rhythm and range thing going:

maybe you want burst damage, maybe your weapons only seem to hit at a certain range or approach angle.

anyway do that until the guy's bars run down and that's the game
