While they obviously propped themselves up on the resident evil remakes I think one key element of that which is facilitating their success (and perhaps why DD2 and wilds were less than stellar) is the original RE games were quite limited in scope - they aren't massive, sprawling games with 20, 30 or more hours of gameplay on a first run - and that tighter scope gives some boundaries to the developing teams which reigns in a lot of what plagues other AAA games we see. Now we can trace this philosophy back to RE7 as well for being a new game that isn't major bloat due to the hilarious failure of RE6 but that is why I suspect they have moved to making remakes. Even RE9 (which is blatantly two projects mashed into one) is a fairly short experience but length is never a sign of quality.Plus as >>740395912 says tech homogeny is useful when your teams are all making the same sort of games - pragmata isn't that far removed from RE4 really. Remember EA tried to do the same via frostbite and it didn't work so well.
