Once you understand this is a "Sekiro-like" (but way easier, as you can improve your parry frames) and the roll is a trap, you actually make progress quite fast.

It's not a terribly difficult game but the final boss fights will likely give you some resistance even on the easiest difficulty.Just don't be ashamed to use the most OP exospines and charms. They make the game a cakewalk.
