Ueda bros, what do we think? Personally I think the atmosphere is extremely compelling, but I'm a bit skeptical about some of the gameplay elements
>>740399613This is just the 2nd trailer. You'll have to wait till next year for the release date trailer, so you're looking at a late 2028 release at the earliest. Regardless, Ueda is a big retard when it comes to the technical side of things, and he doesn't have Sony's support, so I'm unsure how it'll turn out. Reminder that Sony delayed TLG because the performance was horrendous on the PS3, but Ueda didn't see that as an issue and was upset that Sony delayed it for the PS4 (keep in mind that even on the PS4 TLG wasn't great performance-wise, so it probably was atrocious on the PS3).Besides it's release and potential technical issues, this is my most anticipated game title. The sense of awe, discovery and adventure is all there, and that's what Ueda excels at.
People aren't ready for a conversation about Ueda's approach to framerates.
>>740399613I'm excited. And I feel fine about the gameplay. From the two trailers we've seen, it looks like you'll be traveling across a landscape SOTC style, seeking out robots compatible with your head, and solving puzzles/dealing with environmental hazards (like the swarm of snake-like creatures, the massive sandstorm in the first trailer, or hostile big mecha). The climbing mechanics from SOTC and TLG are back, and you have the clearly marked sections on mecha meant for climbing, like the fur patches on Colossi. The character animations for the robot player character are Ueda's style (procedural animation? Not sure the right term - but it's a system's based thing that makes animations react correctly to the environment, instead of being stiff and pre-baked).The environments are gorgeous, and it seems like you're possibly working towards some overarching goal involving the rocket at the end of the trailer. Getting off the planet? Launching a Satellite? Is it one step in a larger goal? The trailer was moving to me, despite it being shots of dead robots.
>>740399613Why did the trailer run at 10fps in some places.Surely the rendering machines they have would be able to run Unreal Engine 5 at full speed, right?
>>740399613if they let me get in the giant robot and fight other giant robots i will play his game.
>>740402769That's in the trailer!!
>>740399613it looks super generic to me, I don't like the move to a futuristic setting, or the designs, or the world's look. idk just feels like a departure from their others games.I like Ueda's games because it always had that feeling of someone from the past exploring something already ancient even by their time, but grounded to the old world and nature. A sad world that still looks beautifulThis has that similar vibes, sure, future guy finding ancient future stuff, but it doesn't hit the same to me. and i've already seen so many games and movies that do this sandy area abandoned cities with robots or future city ruins with some vague post apocalypse story that i just can't get excited for it. Ueda always had that unique look and touch that this one doesn't have....but who cares i'm sure this will still sell millions so what do i know.
>>740399613hope it doesn't get delayed for 10 years and then finally release at 480p 15fps with the blurriest textures ever conceived.
>>740403192there's a particular sadness to robots that isn't for everybody
>>740399981Apparently TLG ran better on the PS3, the technical hiccups come from recoding it to the PS4.Read somewhere that there were a lot of features and animations that were cut during the transition due to time and the difficulty of porting it over which update wasn’t happy about
