Why don’t more games include the ability for vehicles to crush infantry?
Pretty sure it's a warcrime o algo. Also I don't want to lose my own guys to something as stupid as 'oh your own tank ran him over because... um... muh realism." Fuck that.
>>740406076>it’s a warcrime90% of RTS gameplay is a warcrime
>>740406076running over the enemy like in C&CI can’t think of any game where you can run over your own units.
Empire at War does this. If you play Empire your tanks (picrel) are so fuckin fast that youre better off using them to squish people and Palpahu Ackbar than it is to wait for their shitty guns to kill anything
>>740407309What the fuck is empire at war trending again? It's not a good game lol the other one that was an age of empires clone was better simply because it plays like age of empires
Because it's pretty gay and makes infantry feel worthless.
>>740406076>warcrimegrow up, dude
>>740407541Their worth is they are generally faster than heavy armour and cheap so you can swarm vehicles, this just punishes inattentive players and lack of micro.
>>740406385>I can’t think of any game where you can run over your own units.Halo
>>740407541>Detonates all your tanks/humvees/motorcycles before they can do anything>Destroys your base in 0.00001 seconds>Kills your infantry in saturation fireWe got the rockets
>>740406076>warcrimeThat's what makes it fun
>>740411770Yea but that’s funny
>>740407541Laughs in guardian GI
If you think about it RTS games are just a fusion of>God Games (i.e. Black and White and similar)>City Builders (Tycoon series, City Skylines, etc)>Strategy/Tactics Games (Might and Magic, Total War, etc)RTS Superweapons and General Abilities are just God Powers, Commandos and Heroes are just "Your creature".Basically the problem is that appealing to all three demographics is an ever shrinking niche. City builders just want to build their bases and not get raped by rushers, god gamers just play Mobas to control 1 unit + their summoner abilities, and strategy gamers just play total war.
>>740413916More people play RTS games than citybuilders or God Games or CRPGs
>>740406076>No you see that's a warcrime!>Runs over entire village with a tank!>Anon you said that was a warcrime!>Yeah, for you
>>740406076Am I seriously supposed to believe that crushing an enemy combatant is somehow reprehensible when blowing him to chunklets with a tank shell is perfectly fine?
>>740405791They don't think in terms of cool or fun ideas anymore, they think in terms of game design rules. In the modern day this mechanic would be a cooldown or an ult on a timer, where you can make your tank dash forward in a straight line and it breaks the enemy's armor and stuns them for 2 seconds.
>>740414416Company of Heroes does it stillYou can do a tank blitz and just crush the enemy infantry.
>>740414173As I said, Mobas lean heavily on the "god game" side of the trifecta.Furthermore RTS players only play>Starcraft>Age of Empires 2>MAYBE Command and ConquerNot Warcraft 3 because Blizzard killed it.But each of these more or less carved out a niche within the overlapping elements of the 3 core genres that you can't really improve on. Age of Empires beat out Empire Earth, etc etc.
>>740414416Iron Harvest would have been the perfect game to have it, and yet it didn’t.What a massive disappointment of a game.>>740414568Tempest rising does as well, which is pretty OP
>>740406076>Pretty sure it's a warcrime o algo. I'd like to know what convention actually forbids running over enemies, because I'm actually not sure it ever comes up enough for anyone to forbid it. It's usually not a particularly practical tactic to get that close to the enemy to begin with. No, not even if you're inside an MBT.
>>740415383There's likely some article about it because some psycho general was executing civilians by running them over.
>>740406076You can run over soldiers with a vehicle if they are attacking you.
>dude, tank rush, lmao
>>740414695Is tempest rising any good? I've had it in my backlog since release and have never gotten around to playing it yet.
>>740415589Maybe. But that'd already have been covered under the conventions on treatment of civilians or prisoners of war, so I kinda doubt it. You don't really need to outline every single unusually cruel way to execute civilians or prisoners when it's already made clear that executing them at all is a no-go. Plus that'd still be different from running over enemy combatants.
