I've never played Gothic so what's so special about this game rpgwise? I like no handholding games so i'm about to buy this.
Well i don't think you'll get what's so special about this game since now many other games are like it. But if you played it 20 years ago like everyone else you'd get it. Basically same deal as playing VTMB now vs then>it had a nice story/atmosphere>nice talent point system>nice characters>great world with lots of exploration>clunky combat that becomes good once you learn itPlaying it now it will probably just feel like a Witcher or Risen copy or something. My biggest critique of the game from what I've seen so far is that it's oddly way too much like the original. Like, all the locations are even structured the same way as in the OG. And all the characters seem to be the same. The voice lines are almost 1:1 the same in many cases.It makes me wonder: what's even the point of remaking it then, if you're just going to make the same thing but in shittier? If you're going to remake it, go wild and put your own spin on it (and also add extra content), or leave it be entirely.
