>watching video essay of a vidya i like>90% of the video consists of retelling the storyWHY do they do this?
>>740467771Because they have nothing to say about it. What's really weird is that it'll have 500k views.
>>740467771It's called grifting
>>740467771ez views for no effort
>>740467771More watchtime = more money, basically.
>>740467771because 90% of video essays are made by kids (under 25) now trying to be like the tiny amount of people that make money off it who are older. If you're 30 and you watch video essays consider getting a job as a fucking faggotcuck schoolteacher where you can get paid to watch the same individual kid probably, droning out the same drivel
>>740467771>/v/ gets mad if someone puts his own opinions into a game review>/v/ gets mad if someone just presents the game as is.
>>740469825(like when you were assigned an essay and you were 15 did you have some special insight that you theorized that amused the teacher? or did you try to pad to the word limit by saying anything that you kind of had a grasp on, as a retarded teen, like the literal events of the book/film/whatever. of course it's the latter so why would you voluntarily consume a retarded kids fucking essay)
>>740469853Maybe have less shitty opinions.
Got to pad it out. Can't place ads until you reach 8 minutes.
>>740467771I'm making video essays for super obscure Japanese indie games, and I feel like if I don't go over the story then I'll have no evidence for what I actually want to say about it. Everyone would just look at my video and go "I have no idea what this guy is talking about" and click off.
Content parasitism. There's a whole ecosystem of Youtube videos pretending to be analysis/critique that are functionally just summaries and/or abridged versions. Youtuber gets to profit off someone else's work with minimal effort. Audience does not have to commit to actually paying for the thing or taking the time and energy to genuinely experience it.It sucks, but it's been happening for a long time. If you go back you can find people making the same complaints about Reader's Digests way back in the 1800's.
>>740469942Whats crazy is that "college" level essays hardly ever get that much more complex. By that level you spend 75% of the time just repeating constantly "I didnt say this, this was the source I swear to god this was the source Im not plagiarizing" Essays are bullshit
>>740467771padding because the slopessayist doesn't actually have anything meaningful or insightful to say
>>740467771this gif either makes no sense towards this context or the jester is supposed to be the content creator
>>740469942Dunno what the fuck you're talking about but I used to always end my essays with this kino line (got shouted out in grading many times)>Thus, in a broad sense...
>>740467771>see clickthrough rate of essay videos>its always abysmal dogshit>ur part of the problemweird flex OP
>>74046777199% of these faggots exist to waste your time for money, it's insipid trash by design because jewgle doesn't want anything that makes you truly think on their platformsYou are lucky to find a single insightful person making this shit, just about all of them are NPC drones
