But it's 100% a movie game in hindsight and I was slightly caught up in the hype of a new Final Fantasy when it released. I've gone back and played it since and I couldn't stand how long the cutscenes were on a rewatch, how slow they were. There are things I really like about the game, using Brit vas for example, especially for CID, I couldn't imagine anyone else voicing him, or for Benedikta, for Odin/ Barnabus, for Gav, but the problem is the best characters either die too early or don't get enough screen time.I really liked Gav but he's such a small part of the game it's unreal. Having no Party system in a Final Fantasy game is criminal to me. It tried far too much to detach itself from it's roots to appeal to a broader audience and it didn't work.Best part of the game for me are the DLCs by far, there's a lot more loot, explorables, and in Rising Tide I'm not stuck looking at an awful purple grey cloud sky box.
