Booted up og Dark Souls after playing Dark Souls Remastered for the longest time

Original looks so much better it's not even funny. Literally soul vs soulless. Also cant unsee the broken foot ik in animations.

No, everything looks worse in the Demaster. The particle effects look shit too, ruined the stylized bonfire swirl, ruined the pyromancy effects. Even little things like the particle effects for when you slam a Zweihander into the ground, which in the original is a nice subtle effect, but in the demaster it kicks up a ridiculous amount of dirt like a grenade just went off under the ground, and if you're on solid ground it kicks up giant rocks everywhere, the new effect looks straight out of a cartoon it's SO bad. The DLC was the turning point where these games went to shit and became exactly what you describe, before there were blind spots you could aggressively position yourself into and not roll just to survive and wait your turn like you're playing a western boss fight. It's funny, because almost nobody plays like this naturally their first time playing. Most people will start of using shields heavily and will slowly lean the game like this, and this is a good way to play regardless, while and rolling around randomly can actually result in getting punished heavily unless you already know what you're doing.

I strongly recommend playing Dark Souls 1 if you haven't before, because it's basically an amazing adventure game with a super interesting and well structured world to explore. Please ignore what these vids made by people with hundreds of hours playtime look like, the game is a lot more interesting than that and has stupid amounts of cool shit to discover.

Historical revisionism only goes so far anon, PTDE to this day, with all the patches and mods, still can't maintain 60fps which it didn't matter anyway because playing above 30fps breaks the physics, and no dsfix doesn't fix any of this, the controls were terrible to the point that you needed a controler but good luck because anything that wasn't a xbox 360 controler didn't work, online was basically lag switch simulator.

What do you mean never running at a consistent 60 fps. With a decent CPU and DSfix you can indeed run at a consistent 60 fps. There are other issues like jump being short, and probably timer based status effect stuff being double speed, but it will run at 60

The ONLY issue I found with 60 fps via DSFix was single ladder left to the bridge wyvern, which makes you fall to death under textures if you slide down. Literally one (I repeat, ONE) problem, which can be avoided by not sliding down on the ladder.

The OG Dark Souls does take a lot of inspiration from OG Demon's Soul's Foggy Aesthetic. I'm sure this was a silent hill style fix to help the system not have to have such a large draw distance, but it still gives such an old charm and flare to the original releases.

RDR was a fantastic remaster: 60fps, 4K, HDR, modern platform support, almost everything else untouched, like it should be, but if you go to any comment section it's filled with mouth-breathers complaining that there's almost no difference and that it's not worth it.

I'm glad Bluepoint didn't get their hands on Bloodborne, now there's still hope we'll get a faithful remaster/port at some point, unlike Demon's Souls, where the original version will never see the official light of day thanks to their garbage.
