I'm gonna be honest, now that I've been to Japan, places like Inaba fucking suck and I get why Yosuke is so desperate to escape. You just feel cut off from the rest of society, in a country where everything in supposed to be integrated from the top-down and thus you have little real sense of community. And the funny thing is Inaba isn't even the worst of it, it's not really "the sticks", Inaba is basically just a suburb of Sendai.
