Included in the collection:>HITMAN: Codename 47>HITMAN 2: Silent Assassin>HITMAN: ContractsFeaturing enhanced visuals, improved performance, Photo Mode, and the ability to switch between classic and remastered presentations at any time. Will /v/ be playing this when it comes out 2027?
I'll insta buy it if they fix schizo AI from 2.I'll never buy if not only they don't fix it, but also fix sliding.
Disappointed Blood Money isn't included. Contracts takes place between Curtains Down and Flatline. They could have merged all the games together into one game that you play chronologically lol
>>740513431>>740514051The first two are unplayable by modern standards so if they didn't include gameplay improvements it's not going to be a fun time
>>740515030Probably didn't include Blood Money so it could potentially get a full remakeit's definitely the most popular pre-2016
Estimated price? I'm willing to pay up to 40€ for it
>>740518281Free.
I dont think I even want enhanced visuals. I like that era's graphics.
I need to use the BATHroom
Having an actually playable version of the first game would be nice. It was so fucking trial & error with how strict the AI detection was relative to the rest of the series.
>>740513431No I've had quite enough of demasters and I've already played the originals.
>>740513431Damn, it's been a while ... yeah, I'll give em a shot :)
>>740513431Hitman 2 and 3 on PC are a pain to get working properly on modern machines, I welcome this.
What are some other good series where the first game is bad? And not just dated, actually bad even when it came out.
damn i literally purchased the second game a week ago intending to play through the entire series (skipping the first game because it looked clunky as shit)guess i'll wait for the remasters to release
>>740519392Yakuza 1 and 2 are clunky and the series didn't actually get good until 3

>>740513431I literally bought the remasters for PS3 a day before the announcement.I didn't watch the trailer, but I will assume the new remaster somehow looks worse than the original.
>>740520741>Elder Scrolls

>>740520623>Yakuza 2>clunkyYakuza 3 is literally clunkier than 2.
>>740520549SA is also pretty clunky and the AI is absolutely schizo, you're not going to have a good time
the new dongle is a silly item but i like it
>>740526136best narrative of the series though
>>740521860>trying to pick a hidden stash that isn't an ICA stash during preparation crashes the gamei just got disconnected brieflyhopefully when they're looking at that they can fix the berlin stash that crashes the game
How are they going to go about this? Will it be a purely visual remaster? Are they going to shove C47 into contracts or will we have two different versions of the same level? Will they give all 3 games the contracts gameplay, blood money's, or will they give them modern woa gameplay?
>>740515030Blood Money is on modern platforms, albeit as "Reprisal" with Absolution style mechanics and UI for some fucking reason on Switch and mobile, or as HD alongside Absolution on PS4/XBO. Codename 47 never got a console release and the other classics are GOG only otherwise right now.
>>740530705its just the original games with some rendering upgrades and maybe bugfixes
>>740531095Hoping to see /v/ get filtered hard with SA
>>740513431I will pirate it because IOI is still scummy with selling WoA.
>>740516153The controls or structure aren't really the issue, it's just a few bad levels. They don't need to touch the core mechanics
>>740515030Blood Money is perfection, there is nothing to remaster there.
you also get one free dr popp per machine
>>740514051If they made the original 2 play like Contracts they would be good but I doubt they're going to do that
>>740513431>no blood money, aka the best oneit is cool but I will wait for a sale.
watch how they'll remove the maps in all those games and replace them with instinct.
>>740520741>Assassin's Creed>Witcherkys
Why don't they simply use the WoA engine to remake these games? No need to re-do any gameplay, just recreate the maps in WoA.
>>740538068never notice that elevators dont work in WoA? apparently the code is spaghettifiednot sure if thats an IO problem or a glacier problem but apparently the newer engine is a lot better
if they don't fix some of the jank in the first 2 games especially what's even the point
YAMEYAME
Silent Assassin is the best Hitman game
>>740539865names are for bathrooms so i'll have to use one
>>740513431Aren't these 3 games in World of Assassination?
>>740540160what? no
>>740539973>>740516514>>740533450contracts is the pinnacle of hitman games and the darkest in the series, not blood moneyif they have to make a remake of an older game i prefer contracts
>>740513431As someone who has beat all of the original games, I keep coming back to Contracts and Blood Money because they are that good, but as soon as I beat C47 and SA I never touched them again. They are infuriating, especially SA, which is a shame because some levels seem fun to replay but the incredibly agressive AI and the excrutiatingly slow stealth walk just get on my nerves man. I remember the first time I played Contracts I had a sigh of relief the moment I first went into stealth mode and saw how fast 47 could walk in it, such a QoL improvement.Anyway, if they fix those 2 things I may give it a replay. C47 in particular just needs a mid mission save and it's alright even with those 2 shitty missions. You know which I'm talking about.
>>740540556they had the darkest tone in the series, especially contracts
>>740513431I'll only buy it if they uncensor the India levels.
>>740531095The old games have some UI issues in 1080p
>>740540556C47 doesn't even really need a mid mission save for most missions because they're so shortThe only ones I felt could've used a checkpoint were Lee Hong Assassination and Plutonium Runs Loose
>>740540670yeah ik, they also had the best soundtracks by far, SA's is good but Contracts' and Blood Money's are how Hitman should sound
>>740519361Why would you ever have a modern PC?
>>740513431>Codename 47How do they port that? The control is very PC-centric
>>740541036NahThe C47 title screen is still the best track int he franchisehttps://youtu.be/J4ossube1m4
>>740540885it doesn't matter if they are short, everyone's first playthrough in a hitman game is experimental and that alone should be reason enough to let you get your manual chekpointsAnd about the Lee Hong Assassination, that probably got a shit ton of people filtered because even if you know what you're doing and even if you're running, that mission is like +20min long. I love that mission but on a first playthrough its very stressfull to lose like 15min of progress because you made one fuckup. There's a lil "prank" (probably unintentional) in the mission where after you kill LH's bodyguard in a cutscene 47 remains with his pistol out when you go back into playing and that can get your cover blown near the end of the mission
>>740540827that's the type of bugfix they'll go for, compatibility stuff not really trying to polish decades old gameplay
>>740541218Contracts and Blood Money are more iconic, C47's and SA's track sound like they could fit in other games.
>>740541582Truth is, all the Hitman games only have one memorable trackC47: Main titleSilent Assassin: 47 makes a decisionContracts: Winter NightBM: Ave MariaWoA: Mission AccomplishedI'm never playing Absolution to find out what its song is supposed to be
>>740541854>Contracts: Winter NightI like the whole soundtrack but winter night isn't even top 3 most memorable, at least not for me.>BM: Ave Mariakinda, it's not even part of the ost so i dont think it should count, besides its mostly memorable for people who arent that fans of the series, the kinda guy who got the game as a kid and maybe played 2 missions only to never touch it againsince im a sperg with hundreds of hours in the game for me it's either Hunter or Apocalypse (again, speaking about "memorable", not "best", although Apocalypse probably is the best track)
>>740513431>made by SaberIt's the same cunts who made this and thought it was okay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5nO7e7nyt4
>>740542165and yes im a disgusting ESL and on top of that im on 4 hours of sleep, sorry about the mistakes
Hopefully its gonna be good, i still play the 2nd and contracts from time to time but they are so bugged
>>740530572It'd be nice if they could also fix the engine crashing on newer hardware, I haven't even played Freelancer at all lately because I can't even predict when the game will just stop my graphics drivers
>>740520741Shit opinion
>>740542180The Tomb Raider remasters they made recently were very good.
>>740541854 "night time in new orleans" , "apocalypse" ,"vegas", "Hunter", "hong kong underground" , Kyd gave so much soul to the whole games
>>740542165> for me it's either Hunter or ApocalypseI tried listening to both and I don't even remember where they played. Chant themes are utterly forgettable, they all blend in togetherVegas is probably the best track in BM that Kyd actually composed, I do remember hearing it in game even if I didn't really connect it with House of Cards which is a mission I don't like and never replay
I like all the music of the old games
i don't mind the new music if i'm honestit's different sure but not inherently worse
>>740542752>I tried listening to both and I don't even remember where they playedthats how C47 and SA work, not how Contracts and BM workContracts and BM have tracks that play depending on what you're doing, they are not "place specific", though there are some exceptions like the Vegas track which always plays at the casino and when you enter the porn mansion in YBWO
I always play muted for full roleplay immersion
>>740543160real life has no sound?
>>740543262no, 47 is deaf. he is a master at lip reading and that's how he can hold conversations
>>740543262he's deafman
>>740543371huh
>>74054344347 is deaf so I play with no sound so I can roleplay as himit's not funny if I have to explain it dude
>>740543371how does he lip read diana's recordings? what about that time a mailman knocked his door?
Hitman: Contract itself is already the remastered version of Codename 47.So it's a HD remastered of a HD remastered of a remastered.
>>740543703>how does he lip read diana's recordings?he uses a tailor-made ICA device that allows him to interpret the vibrations from her voice>>740543703>what about that time a mailman knocked his door?he knew he was coming, he was prepared.
>>740543853No, it's a remake of some (but not all) C47 levelsAnd some of the remade levels are basically entirely different than originals with only a handful of concepts carried over to an entirely new layout and structure
>>740520741None of those are correct.
>>740513431>releases>comes with built-in freelancer mode like in WoAplease baby it's all I want
>>740513431I already own the whole original collection on GOG. I don't care for remasters unless they are giving them away for free.
>>740514051Skill issue.
>>740533450Are people forgetting that they already remastered BM on Switch? Pic related.Kotti even did a complete playthrough of it, if you want an idea of the changes they made:https://ww.youtube.com/watch?v=2iKPVNKn3rU&ra=m
So we are getting 100 ai upscale hd texture remaster releases late 2026-early 2027 while everyone waits for gta iv to release.
>>740537613AC1 was a glorified tech demo that had you running the same "minigame" missions over and over.Witcher1's combat was complete dogshit and destroys the game, despite the excellent writing.>>740520956No one mentions Arena for a reason. Elder Scrolls found its footing with Daggerfall, even though the game was literally unbeatable on release due to major bugs.
>>740544302Persona 1 blows
>>740545014Nah, both games their rough edges, but they’re still perfectly fine games to play to this day. They’re not comparable to Codename 47, which is broken and borderline unplayable by modern standards.
>>740513431Depends on if they'll delist the classic titles from steamspoiler: they willit will also be just a graphical touchup, guaranteed C47 and SA will remain unplayable trash that works more as a proof of concept than a game
>>740545142it's literally the only good Persona game since it doesn't waste your time with slice of life minigame and visual novel bullshit, has dungeons that are more than just hallways with monsters (unlike 2) and has actual positioning mechanics, even if they are just grid based
>>740519392uhhh i heard from some boomer youtubers that the first street fighter was kinda mid
>>740537613AC1 is legit the worst one of the whole saga, you're doing the 3 same things all the time (tailing, chasing, pickpocketing and maybe killing a dude) all so you can unlock the big showdown of the map and it's over in 5 minutes after a lenghty cutscene where you stroke their cheek as they die and explain that they were actually the good guys.
I would actually have prefered to have the games totally remade in the WoA engine, I'm not really interested in going back to the jank of Codename 47
>>740518876Based
I legit could never beat or understand the tutorial levels of Hitman 2 and Contracts on the Xbox 360 HD collection.
It just occured to me that people who start hitman with some in between title are probably confused af. about the story.I know nobody cares about OG Hitman's story but imagine starting contracts and snapping some dude's neck and going through a lab full of fresh corpses and babies inside pods. Or starting with SA and seeing some random church farmer start taking on assassination jobs.I think people should at least watch the story of C47, since it's the most important game lore wise and nobody plays, it to at least understand whats going on.You can go from C47 straight into ANY other Hitman and it won't feel weird but skipping C47 is, dare I say it, problematic
>>740518876that level filtered me so hard I dropped the game.
>>740545707There's nothing really wrong the controls of Codename 47, it's the NPC scripts that need to be fixed the most and that could theoretically happen in this remaster
>>740513431Mark my words theyre going to change a lot about the first game.No way on earth that plot will fly with the modern audience. >this white guy is a mix of all races thats why he can blend among anyone.
>>740545846Contracts is basically a remake of C47 but with less comedic tones and edgier tone.
>>740545707>have the games totally remade in the WoA enginei dont think that would work for contracts but it would probably be alright for the other 3.
>>740545278>which is broken and borderline unplayable by modern standards.Outside of the AI somehow cheating and seeing corpses through walls in specific maps, I didn't recall much being broken about C47. It was just a fucking hard game.
>>740546082The NPC scripts are broken, that's the issueLIke how guards instantly go on alert if you climb through the window of the seafood restaurant even if no one sees you do itOr how retrieving the car bomb in Plutonium Runs Loose stops all NPCs from moving so you can no longer get to the target without being detected (because you can no longer tailgate behind the guys walking through the gates)Or how in Say Hello to My Little Friend the guards claim they'll be hostile to you no matter what, which is a lie since you can go past them with a specific disguise
>>740545954Contracts does a terrible job introducing you to the origins of 47, they are just regular missions that feel no different from the new original missions of that game. Nobody is gonna pick up on the 5 fathers thing because the game doesn't make it clear like the first game does. You don't even kill Pablo Ochoa, and IIRC, the fathers don't drop notes when they die giving you some lore like in C47.
>>740544327it won't
>>740546578Not to mention you only see Ortmeyer in the first five seconds
>>740545278The only thing that is questionable in C47 is the goofy ass life system that only works for a pure action game, not a stealth game. The enemies would beeline to your spawn point as soon as you respawn.I don't recall C47 being broken at all.
>>740519392The first Hitman game is not bad silly zoomer.
>>740545447Instead it wastes your life with 30 seconds long Persona summoning sequence per turn that can't be skipped. Persona 2 has the same problem.
>>740546578>Contracts does a terrible job introducing you to the origins of 47It was also a disjointed story as fuck. It was my entry into the series and I had no real idea wtf was going on.
>>740544683Broken URL award
>>740547169PSP version lets you skip animations
>>740547231and dont forget that technically the entirety of contracts takes place in between 2 blood money missions
>>740513431>Codename 47This needs more than remaster. It needs Remake in style of other 2 (but this would make some Contacts missions more redundant)
>>740547691What do you mean "in the style?" It already basically has the same controls, runs in the same engine, etc. The only real difference is that it's buggier and doesn't have mid mission saves
>>740547979He obviously means that they’ll have to redesign some of the more combat heavy and gimmicky missions to play more like what a “traditional” Hitman level plays like. A lot of the missions do need a design overhaul, but I feel like a complete “from the ground up” remake would sacrifice some of the weird atmosphere that C47 had.
>>740513431the hacks of io didnt bother make them in their live service shit game 3 as dlc? the bad ending of 3 vanilla was a shit reference? well shit
>>740519392filtered
>>740513431>Photo Mode
>>740519392Street Fighter might be the biggest example
>>740548284There is a lot of complaining about missions that don't have targets, that's trueI like what Contracts did with Deadly Cargo, where it compressed all the Rotterdam levels in C47 together. And it's probably something that should be done for consistency's sake, it was always weird that Traditions of the Trades was the only level set in Hungary. It'd be very easy to do for the Colombia and Asylum missions as well. No idea how you'd merge the Hong Kong missions though.Meet Your Brother you'd have to scrap entirely though, there is no way you could overhaul that mission into playing anything like a traditional Hitman mission
>>740548284its 2026 and 47 can cover and shoot without looking like robocop rusty a little forced action isnt bad
>>740542180halo cea is an exception, that was one of the first big remasters they did and they got bullied really hard back then for fucking shit up, they got a lot better after that
>>740547979Silent Assassin gameplay is really polished Codename 47 gameplay and it's bigger difference than what you think. So I really want remake of first Hitman with all improvements from Hitman 2. Also ability to save during mission instead weird checkpoint/life system is huge deal on it's own. >>740548284I don't think it need to be something this drastic (especially since Contacts did that for some missions). At most just add more options to missions. SA and Contacts still had some combat stuff or other not assassination missions.
>>740513431A sliver of censorship = no buy
>>740548886if it was so polished why jap guards have x rays? barely found that issue in first game
>>740519392Mass EffectStreet FighterElder Scrolls
>>740547231didnt the back cover explain anything? im assuming you played it on ps2 back in the day and didnt start with contracts in the modern age where the whole series is easily accesible
>>740519392Codename 47 was not bad. It was really flawed and had some dumb ideas but core was still good and reason why it's franchise instead one forgotten stealth game from 2000
>>740548994Hiroshima mutation, Yazuka recruit for it.
>>740549089you mean one forgotten TPS from 2000, going into stealth is precisely why it became iconic, it was originally just gonna be a shooter
It's pretty lame they announced this as a 2027 title. You'd think a remaster of some old ass games would be more of a "thing you can get within the next 3 weeks" type of announcement.
>>740547287I had beaten Persona 1 years ago. The skip function only makes the animation 2 seconds faster, the summoning sequence is still there.
>>740549029Yeah, was a PS2 rental. Only rented it because I aware of 2 due to all of the controversy surrounding it (some country wanted it banned), so I wanted to see what the buzz was with the first entry I could play at home without committing to a full purchase.
>>740540505The older Hitman games were legit a little bit scary. WoA definitely turned into more of a globetrotting bright-lights spectacle type of thing. I can see why IOI got the Bond game contract.
>>740513431I loved contracts, but I'm not sure if I have the patience to replay these. The first Hitman games were ridiculously hard.
>>740545446Do people realize steam doesn't have a monopoly on retro games.
>>740549687WoA feels very bond at times, even some of the music
>>740545846>>740546578I don't remember WoA story or implications fully but I wouldn't be surprised if they already soft retconned him being a clone and a mixed race clone at that which he was supposed to be in at least C47. He's more and more just european looking as the series goes on. I guess they didn't completely do away with his "cloning father" because there were some easter eggs.
>>740550475he was a bald aryan in Blood Money and he still was a mixed clone
>>740550475Nope, hasn't been retconned at all. I think the only retcon WoA even made is 47 killed Diana's parents or something

It's kind of important to make it believable he can do multiple jobs in Asia in the first game without immediately being outed and some in the second game too iirc. BM is almost completely in the USA so that's different. It also makes a difference whether he can blend in as a tourist or if he's infiltrating some secret ranks.
>>740537172God I wish

>>740551532i dont think 47 stands out that much in the middle easti think what kinda screws him over are the blue eyes
>>740551803I can't remember if you can disguise yourself as a black guy before WoA but I know you definitely can in that game, and it's even funnier because there's even unique black NPCs you can disguise yourself as, like the chief bodyguard of one of your targets in Whittleton Creek
>>740551532To be fair, disguise barely works in Hitman 2: SA.47 sticks out like a sore thumb in Malaysia.
>>740551948I was about to comment on which game was the first where 47 had blue eyes. I know that he was a blue eyed european at least by blood money but most likely the eyes weren't blue in C47. Even tho there are blue eyed people in those countries too even if they are rarer.

>>740552264Why wouldn't he be?
>>740552508He's not an explicit target in the original game but the point is that he's literally Hitler and you should kill him to progress anyway. Hitman Contract gives him a redesign and makes him a target.People who don't hate Hitler might stuck in that mission.
>>740552831they changed his design in contracts right?
>>740552831He's a French guy in Hungary posing as a dentist to conceal a bomb he plans to use on some NWO gathering. Has nothing to do with Hitler apart from his appearance

>>740545842I know that feel bro
One important change that I hope is made for Contracts is the ability is to use weapons you've unlocked at any timeFor some bizarre reason, Contracts only lets you use weapons you've unlocked on a replay of a mission. Your first run always has to be using the default loadout.
dudes expecting way too much out of a nightdive upscale slopmake
>>740553370did contracts even have replays? i think youre forced to load a save if you wanna play a mission
Why do these gay companies announce remasters a year early? Seriously, this shit should be ideally shadow dropped, at worst announced 4 months before release.
>improved textures>improved lightmaps>converting some 2d elements to 3d geometry that doesn't stand out>proper skybox instead of skyplane>keeping the rest of the visual make-up rather intact, unlike say, fucking Nightdive's effortsGuess they're bringing it all up to Blood Money's standards? It's pretty tastefully done in the examples provided at least. It makes the OG graphics look more like the low-settings equivalent in comparison.
>>740552032People always ignore that. They talk like 47 have perfect disguise what fools everybody but in game you are always "suspicious X" (it's funny level where you are referred as clone)
>>740553631Yeah, it has a level select, but I think it might only unlock after you beat the game. It's retarded. Here's the equipment screen, if you've never replayed the game you've probably never seen this
>>740555591They must have had some thought process where you first play with the default layout and your reward is getting to play with your weapons of choice.
>>740555756I don't get why it was necessary. Just like 2SA the game already has unlockable weapons for getting the Silent Assassin rank on a mission. They didn't need to gatekeep the other weapons too
>>740555986It wasn't. I was just trying to imagine why they did it that way.
They should remaster Blood Money and Absolution and fix 47's bloated potato face in Absolution
>>740557605What's there to remaster? But porting BM maps + salvaging the best Absolution maps into WoA engine could potentially be cool. I would not even play it, but it would be something.
I just want a fucked up map which is all of Hitman 2's smashed together into a single WoA map to act as a new playground for targets. It'll look like a theme park
>>740558909Mr Swing King?
>>740514051Remakes should not change quirks found in the original game.
>>740560717sliding was gay ngl
>has a graphics toggleYou're telling me they're going back into the source code of these games to make that happen? Then why can't they actually go and unfuck the versions of C47 on Steam/GOG so they run as-is without needing community fixes?
>>740558093I kinda want this just so we have a true 1:1 comparison of BM mission design vs WoA mission designBecause hot damn, a lot of BM missions feel no more fleshed out than 2SA ones to me. The only appreciable difference comes from the new player mechanics rather than the missions themselves

I just want to know if they plan on Making C47 and 2SA fun so I know whether or not I should give a shit
Does anybody have that pic of 47 threatening a tranny?I've seen it here a few times.
>>740564284They say exactly what the remaster is: A graphics replacer, nothing more. You can assume maybe a resolution fixer but that's about it.
>>740562678whats the problem with C47? i played it for the first time in 2024 and other than the horrendous default controls in the settings the game worked properly
Since there is a new Hitman game in development (which I think won't be just another expansion to 2016 like II and III were), you guys think there's a chance we get another dark hitman like contracts? I think the main problem for that is that Hitman fans now expect 47 to take on Jeffrey Epstein typa targets, and those require these gigantic, scenic, locations with lots of luxuries. Hitman Contracts had you taking smaller fish and I think that allowed for grittier locations like the motorcycle club. I at least would like Jesper Kyd back but then again, I don't know how sharp he is nowadays, maybe he's way past it and has gone senile or sumshiet.
