Keep in mind 2 could not even hit 3 million after almost six years, and that includes launching in the Switch's first year and Smash shilling, as well as a lot of porn. Given the critical acclaim that 3 received in the face of the uphill battle it faced having to follow 2 (as in, 2 was so embarrassing that 3 was written off by most players), its performance is actually rather commendable.
