It'll happen to you
>>
>>740544949
It's not necessarily that video games became more boring, I just got more interests
>>
M8 it happened to me like 10 years ago I just have nowhere else to go

>>

I'm older than you. Hasn't happened. You're a faggot burnout.
>>
>>740544949
"Suddenly"? Like you woke up one day and were like "holy shit why did I ever find this hobby fun?"
>>
>>740544949
Try other hobbies.
They're hollow and unfulfilling too.

I bounce between hobbies pretty regularly. If I run out of vidya I wanna play I go do some other shit for a month.
>>
I’ll be playing vidya till im 80. I already stopped watching sports.
>>
everything is boring and unfulfilling

You made this thread yesterday.
Seems like an awfully bitter thing to do

I'm 34, and I like video games now more than ever.

It was in my 20s that I kind of got bored of video games.
>>
>>740545176
I beat dw4 last week, no idea why they took away the ability to remove character control in chapter 5

Already did. 35, don't play videogames and have been enjoying my time watching livestreams and lets plays for the past 8 years or so
>>
>>740544949
I always think this will happen to me, but then I play a banger ps1 or ps2 game and know gaming just changed. Its all still there and will never go away.
>>
>>740544949
I'm almost 50 and still get pleasantly surprised, with both old and new games.
All i had to do is mostly ignore AAA slop, and "indie named indie" slop as well.
>>
>>740544949
I did before but now I picked up emulating nes games and have been having a lot of fun.
>>
>>740545335
You became a cuck?
>>
>>740544949
Nah it's just that gaming is like wading through a mountain of shit to find the good stuff. So many awful terrible games that get shoved in your face that you have to ignore.
>>
Unlike you I’m a video game lover.

I've been playing the same shit over and over for years. Games are just shit now and developers are just making shitty games and chasing trends way too late after they got popular.

TV and Film is also shit.

Every type of media is just shit now.
>>
Im 42 and yeah these game announcements have been shit. I haven't bought a AAA game in over a decade really. Ill still enjoy a nice retro style indie or old arcade game and im having fun playing Teardown with my 4 year old. These huge cinematic games and looter shooters and friendslop or asymmetrical multiplayer games aren't what I grew up playing so I dont feel like I grew out of anything because they've always been shit to me

What's wrong with playing nes games?
Btw I am 32 and never owned an nes.
>>
Bullshit, you just go from wanting to play the latest new slop to some incredibly convoluted dad game that requires 500 hours to master because deciding to play something new is literally too mentally taxing to be worth the trouble.

You're going to grow up and suddenly realize you went from buying 12 AAA games a year to instead having as many hours in EU5 as you have grey hairs.

I'm not QUITE there, but a game has to be an 8/10 at minimum now to even hold my attention long enough to finish it. I basically only play really good stuff now and it hits me as hard as a 7/10 would've hit me 20 years ago.

I see these game showcases and a streamer will look at something like Wardogs and say "whoa this looks really cool" and my reaction is just complete 100% boredom because I've seen a million military shooters already and there's absolutely nothing new or interesting that can be done with that genre anymore.

I still find games just as fun as I used to find them when I was a kid. I'm near 30. They bring me the same joy still.
>>
>>740544949
Yes. So it's up to you to make the decision of what you want to do with that. Either keep hanging out here or go somewhere else. If your whole life was video games though and that was your ultimate hobby, then I'm sorry.

I like to mod and tinker more than to play games. But I can still get some stuff that'll hold my interest, it's just quite rare. I think a reason the older boomers in the past liked the more dadcore games is because they tended to have that complexity that felt worthwhile. I tried that where winds meet and that felt like the bad kind of obtuse complexity, where I had to menu-juggle around to upgrade shit for the most inane purpose.

Pretty much all I need is:
Total wars
Arma 4
I'd really like an xcom kind of game to come around
I'd like a 'pick up turn my brain off shooter' like Rising storm 1/2 and RO2 were for me during the 2010s.
Some kind of citybuilder.

When i still lived small, vidya was all i wanted to do to escape, nonstop. Now that i recently have my own place with private backyard, i completely lost my taste for vidya. I just sit or lay outside now, watching bumblebees, birds and wild flower growth.
Feels weird, actually. I'm gonna die alone and this place is the best i could hope to get. So i'm really just slowly waiting for my demise as comfy as i can. Everything i ever liked or practiced went down with the ship anyway. Too many good things are ending.

It's not about age; games past 08 GOT boring and unfulfilling. You can thank the 7th generation and its raise of development costs for that

Everything has

>Music went to shit (rock died by 2010, metal is in its way out)
>Movies had Hollywood scammed by woke agendas, nuked and cucked to outsider filmakers because "diversity"and ran out of new blood because celebrities went also to utter shit
>Books barely hanging
>Comics are a mess like always but found sustainability
>Anime and manga fucked over by digital
>Gaming went the ultimate cuck route with dumbshit propagandas, consumer happily enabling predatory practices 2 decades ago to ingrain and happily giving away ownership for the impression of convenience
It's nice that music is kind of unJUSTing itself but others...

This whole "you age out of video games" is a myth caused by how relatively young the media is.
It is something created in the 90's, where almost everyone over 40 didn't grew playing video games.
In bang on 1990, the atari VCS was just 14 years old.
But, you know, 1990 was 36 years ago, most people that grew up with the atari are now 50-60 years old.
It's an old people hobby now.
>>
>>740549425
>Music went to shit (rock died by 2010, metal is in its way out)
Music started to become enshitified as early as the 80s when electronic drum beats became prevalent
>>
>>740544949
Happened to me years ago.
>>
>>740551242
We had lots of creative talent behind making music. Nowaday is the tech the one in front of the artist and the artists of today are talentless in perspective.

I still enjoy old games, but I have almost zero interest in new games. I watch these not-E3 things and feel absolutely nothing. I feel out of touch with what the modern gamer is into.

I've been watching a lot of movies instead lately. I've seen 100 this year that I've never seen before.

My dislike for newer games is that their streamlined, battle harden, and generally work.
Meanwhile, look at older games.
>clunky UI
>esoteric mechanics
>dead men walking
>ridiculous writing
Before, games were learned, not just played. Now we have something like RPGmaker, which is anthesis of this game design. Sure, RPGmaker games can be fun, but unless you're Fear and Hunger, you're not going to be learned, to be studied. To be beaten.
That's what's missing in a lot of modern games. How are you supposed to beat say GTA6, if you were setup to pass to begin with?
>>
>>740551384
>>740551456
There's one thing I grew to appreciate about movies/books is that they really transport you to another world, and are able to convey different tones.
E.g. I can read No Country for Old Men, then Dune. Two vastly different experiences. With games, I feel the tone can be a bit limited
>>
>buy steam sale game
>ehhh I cbf
>Ask for refund a week later

Like bro on paper manorlords is my game but I just cbf anymore. Prob 1/20 games I stick with. Least slay the spire 2 is still good fun. Indieslop rogue likes with a good gameplay loop is all that seems to to hold me now.

Maybe cause I work 10 hours a day and mentally we all started to slip past 30. Ohh well dota2/Warcraft 3 are still scratching that itch for me
>>
>hit 30

>start making games instead

I've fully accepted that 1990-2005 was the golden age of vidya and we're mostly over the hill. but there's so many good and interesting games from that era that you could play them forever and not run out.

I'm having trouble enjoying jRPGs. The past few years any jrpg I try has been feeling slow and unfulfilling, either the combat is too shallow or the story sucks
I picked Breath of Fire recently and I'm reminded of how often localizers change the script
But then I started thinking maybe I wouldn't have enjoyed these games as much if the script weren't altered with spicy pop culture references
Pretty much the only singleplayer game I have had fun with recently has been Deltarune and 4 player Tales Of, but that last one I consider cheating, not everyone can have that
If it's the only game you have and it's like the 90s or the 2000s I can understand playing a slow ass unfulfilling rpg because you've already beaten Mario but in 2026 playing a jrpg makes me feel like that one Nintendo CEO who said jrpgs are only for depressed gamers who like slow video games
>>

I'm in my mid-3os and think games are still fun. However, I'm feeling pretty unfulfilled with life in general so I feel numb or checked out most of the time. I've got some other hobbies and am trying to make some changes to improve things, but until then, I'm struggling to find motivation for much of anything.
>>
>>740557132
same. I think the reason is you're just kind of supposed to have kids by this point. Being able to re-experience a lot of stuff through the fresh eyes of a child keeps you engaged.

I've got hobbies beyond videogames, and when I'm doing them I'm enjoying life. But I cant be skiing year round, and most of the day just feels empty.
